Ik Hal’s financial situation is meant to reflect him as a person and how someone who’s a veteran and a pilot, two very respectable well earning careers (or at least they’re supposed to be) but still able to end up like this but I think it’s ironically getting closer and closer to reality with the rise of homeless veterans being abandoned by the country they risked their lives for.

Being a Green Lantern fan is truly a liberating experience because some rando can send you a twelve page essay about why your fav is an absolutely horrible character that no one should like and then every single reason they list is why you like them. Yes Jo in Absolute Green Lantern was a shitty partner to her ex??? It’s part of what makes her interesting??? Yes Kyle is genuinely a little stupid sometimes??? It’s funny??? Yes Hal is Hal??? It’s why I’m here??? I never feel scared to say all these guys and gals kinda suck it’s part of the charm. I’ve never heard a single Hal fan not call him a pathetic loser. I’ve never heard anyone say Kyle is a genius, creative sure, but he also wrote his own name when signing autographs as Green Lantern. He’s dumb.

Meanwhile you point out a Batman character’s well-thought out character flaw supported by the text and they disembowel you.

I'm biased but shouldn't the destruction of Coast City be a bigger deal in-universe? A major US city got nuked to dust so where's the fallout for people who aren't Hal Jordan? Did civilians doubt the Justice League afterward? Was the trust in superheroes shaken? Was there a congressional hearing to decide if someone could have done something more to prevent the death of 7 million people? It feels like it had less effect on the world than 9/11. This shit should be referenced more often outside Hal's comics as the colossal failure to protect civilian lives that it was.
