Man, people suck D: The Zoophobia revival gets announced and people are IMMEDIATELY jumping to call the original garbage and horrible. My brother in christ, it was written by a highschool girl. It's not gonna be high art. Just. What's even the point of this.

The original Zoophobia isn’t perfect. It’s messy. But it has a lot of passion and heart in it. I’m expecting the reboot to be very different from the original comic and based on how Viv discussed it at LVLUP it sounds like the case!

Gooseworx should co-create the Zoophobia miniseries if Viv wants the show to be good

With TADC finally ending, and Goose not seeming to have plans atm I'd like to propose an idea for her to pickup that she may very much be interested in.

So, Viv has recently announced she will be doing a reboot of Zoophobia as an animated miniseries and I have stated I actually hope it will be great and Viv can prove she makes something great under her belt. However, her track record of poor writing and barely improving, not to mention the writing being easily the weakest part of the comic hinders that hope for me.

So then I thought, how about Viv actually collaborates with someone who did work on a miniseries and effectively mined as much drama, character development and worldbuilding in only a few episodes than Viv ever did in 2 seasons of both of her shows?

We already know Goose loves Zoophobia as she's made musical compositions for the comic before. So why not take her up to a higher level and also have her co-write the show along with Viv? She could make the miniseries have balanced focus and actually good pacing.

I think it could not only end the fandom rivalry between TADC fandom and the Hellaverse fandom, but it could make something truly amazing from Spindlehorse.

The Hellaverse hatedom is genuinely the most disgusting, vile, racist, bigoted group of people I’ve ever encountered in my life. They don’t want accountability from people who have made mistakes in the past. If that’s what it was about they’d be listening to the people who were actually hurt. After watching Hazbin season 2, I was right about Viv and female characters

Because holy shit, she just reinforced it. She KNOWS how to write great female characters. Sera is an absolutely phenomenal character and is easily the most complex figure Vivziepop has ever written. Her redemption is just beautiful af and she gets ample focus on her psyche.

Same went for Carmilla this season and even Emily. All of three of them are just great. Lute is...well, ok she kinda sucks this season but, for the most part, holy shit, those three were great. But as I've stated before, notice who these three are: Supporting characters. They aren't the main cast (Hotel gang)

So it just pains me when I can see Viv shows she definitely knows how to write women characters, even great ones like Sera, but when it came to the female characters in the Hotel gang, she fucking fumbled it.

Charlie this season is just fucking abysmal. I get that her regressing is the point, but not only is her arc so rushed, she remains static and uninteresting althroughout somehow. Vaggi is reduced to a name change, and not exploring her past as an Exorcist all that much. Niffty is the least bad of them as she's just comic relief, but she's still nothing that great.

So, all this is saying is, Viv knows how to write women, as long as they are not the main cast

I had a realization

It's not that Vivziepop can't write female characters well. She CAN. It's that she can't write female MAIN characters well. Carmilla Carmine, Mrs. Mayberry, Verosika (Sa'ing Moxxie aside), Sera (I've seen the leaks she actually is really interesting), etc

These ARE interesting, three dimensional, fleshed out characters (relatively speaking), with their own clear goals and motives but they're purely supporting characters, secondary and even tertiary to the protagonists.

Meanwhile, Charlie, Vaggie, Millie, Niffty, Loona are part of their shows' main casts but they're all either underdeveloped, uninteresting, one-note, and often tied to another character. Their motivations are barely explored, if they have them at all, and when they do it's quite lackluster.

Vivienne knows how to write fleshed out female characters when they're not the main focus of the story. But for some odd reason she can't do so when they are the protagonists.
