HURU

I plan to make a series of 5 photorealistic paintings of females that have been neglected by society for many years. I want to make a series of paintings to empower all kinds of females, regardless of race, age, fame and background. I will paint 3 females who I know personally and 2 females who are famous. This body of work includes my mother, who raised me alone as a widow. My friend’s child, who reminds me of the innocence all women possess. Myself, as I am proud of the woman I am becoming. Aishwarya Rai who plays a role that is based on a true story. A woman who is forced into a brothel and was degraded by society. And Princess Diana who represents grace and power. I will include a variety of different women to show how all women should be supported. The backgrounds of the painting are either blue or red. Blue symbolizes wisdom, stability and understanding. Red symbolizes danger, passion, energy, love and power. I chose these colors because women represent all these qualities. They can be cool and they can also be fierce. I created this small scale body of work with oil paint, brushes and my hands. The oil paint helps bring flexibility and depth in color. The slow drying of the oil gives the ability to work on the painting much longer giving an advantage of blended detail. Some influences for my work include the Mughal era, realism, and Philip weber who also paint realistic women.

Fauvism is associated especially with Henri Matisse and André Derain, whose works are characterized by strong, vibrant colour and bold brushstrokes over realistic or representational qualities. I love the contrast of realistic work with something odd on top such as vibrant brush strokes. I want to try this technique.

Led by the example of Georges Seurat and Paul Signac, Neo-Impressionists renounced the spontaneity of Impressionism in favor of a measured and systematic painting technique known as pointillism, grounded in science and the study of optics. I like the this style of painting with dots. It reminds me of when people use m&ms to make  a large painting.

Rococo is a movement in art, particularly in architecture and decorative art, that originated in France in the early 1700s.  Rococo art characteristics consist of elaborate ornamentation and a light, sensuous style, including scrollwork, foliage, and animal forms. This theatrical style of the architect is so beautiful to me.

Ahmed Parvez was born in Rawalpindi on 7th July 1926. The family were drawn to artistic pursuits; his grandfather was an architect, his uncle had a studio in Lahore and his sister wrote poetry. He was a modernist painter. I loce how he uses shapes in his paintings and the color palatte he uses.

6) the great painter of Pakistan, born in 1914, left a huge mark as both a painter and a teacher on artists and painters of the country, sub continent and around the world. Ali was famous for his work which revolves around human emotions, thoughts, pain and pleasures. He not only felt that all aspects of human nature but also showed them in his work through lines, colours and paint.

The term Baroque, derived from the Portuguese ‘barocco’ meaning ‘irregular pearl or stone’,  is a movement in art and architecture developed in Europe from the early seventeenth to mid-eighteenth century. Baroque emphasizes dramatic, exaggerated motion and clear, easily interpreted, detail, which is a far cry from Surrealism, to produce drama, tension, exuberance, and grandeur.

Mosaics.

Was an American painter and he had a big role in the abstract expressionist movement. He was known for his technique of pouring and splashing liquid household paint onto a horizontal surface, This is called the drip technique. This is interesting to me because it shows that he painted his canvas from all angled. He used the force of his whole body to paint and he covered the entire canvas, this often happens in a frenetic dancing style. Critics were for and against his style, some said it was very creative, some said they did not like the random effects that it created. I personally love it. At first it looks easy to do but I have tried making a painting like this. And it takes an artist to even make sure the painting falls in the right place. Its beautiful the colour he uses.

He is considered a pioneer of abstract art. He was born in Moscow, Kandinsky. He was more into figurative art before 1913 and then he pushed into pure abstraction. He said “art independent of one’s observations of the external world.” He especially believed that colour could be separated from all external references and become a subject for art. His 1910 book, “On the Spiritual In Art,” laid out his theories. What is interesting about this artist is his connection of spirituality to painting. He expressed the communion between artist and viewer as being available to both the senses and the mind. He would listen to tones and chords as he painted. Kandinsky theorised that yellow is the colour of middle C on a brassy trumpet; black is the colour of closure, and the end of things and that combination of colours produce vibrational frequencies. He knew how to play the piano and cello. This is very interesting to me because I always felt that there is much more to art then just it looks pretty and colour. The feeling it gives is beyond the surface level. So What if there is more spirituality to art than I thought. He inspires me to be more thoughtful when it comes to art. I love how he can get regular shapes and make them into a painting. He is able to keep me intrigued and make me want to look at it for a while.

Chris Rivers is a painter of skyscapes. He adds a lot of vibrant colors and effects to give the look of clouds, mists and vapours. He adds great detail in every part of the painting, there is so much dimension. When you look closely in some of his paintings you can see small figures that float within the clouds. I thought this was extremely unique and very interesting. His paintings remind me of the term beautiful disaster. I have been following this painter on instagram for years. There is something about his paintings that draw me in so much. The addition of the small figures shows how he takes time with every small detail. It also makes me look at his paintings in more detail and with more fascination. His color palette is out of this world in my opinion. I love it so much. It reminds me of the modern renaissance. The colours he chooses to use have an expensive look to them. Maybe because these colors are tied to renaissance paintings. So the colors he uses gives a very chic vibe in my opinion. Overall, I really enjoy his work, the detail is so amazing.
