It’s less “Leon finally communicating,” and more that his acting and excuses start to crumble and waiver to the point his family can see him a little more clearly.

After the Invasion, even when he’s cleared to leave the lair again, losing that front arm makes a LOT of things more difficult — Running, walking, jumping from rooftop to rooftop… he can’t even swim yet due to his bandages and injuries. Leo falls behind a lot quicker than before.

Of course, Donnie’s working on making him a worthy prosthetic! Plus he gets a few non-robotic ones along the way! But all of that takes time, and Dee was ALSO recovering for a while. Nothing is ready for Leo to use until a few months in.

Sure, they travel with Leo’s portals often, so everyone can stick together, but when they are actively trying to look around the city (it’s not really “patrols” yet, considering their condition, both emotional and physical… but they do try to help wrangle the stray, mindless Kraangified-creatures, or make sure humans and yokai alike are getting to safe places while buildings continue to collapse and homes are lost) using his portals just doesn’t always make sense.

So yeah, in the first few weeks of Leo finally being able to join them topside, it gets frustrating really quickly. There’s usually one brother willing to stay back with him, catch him when he falls and all that. Still, it’s hard and slow and a little overwhelming for all of them.

So when Mikey makes an offhand comment like, “Ha, wouldn’t it be so much easier if you still had those wings?” and Leon doesn’t laugh? Leon actually seems to get a little bit more upset?? Teary eyed, even??

BASICALLY: the dragonets separated from their papa while out on a supply run. While they scoured the trash in an alleyway, April was crossing through on her way home from school! They weren’t exactly super stealthy at the time, but that’s okay, April’s a weird lil girl, she was more than happy to help them find their way again.

She absolutely used her knowledge as blackmail to Splinter though.

She will not tell a soul what she saw… IF she gets to play with them every so often :D

And thus, they have a human sister now.

Trying to get used to using procreate cuz I got a new tablet, and I could really use a distraction from reality right now lol

Like damn, alright! I know nothing about Clash Royal, never had any interest in TF2, but I kinda like doodling these guys, wtf??

Figured I should update people on recent projects, and I just finished another market so I’ll be able to just chill and doodle turtles tomorrow (I hope 🙏)

COI REFERENCE PICTURES

Mostly for their "cloaked," humanoid forms and the respective cloaking item used! Since there are so many large yokai species, there are cloaking items made specifically to reduce their size and make it easier to access buildings in the Hidden City. Leo was the first to find one in Big Mama's vault (during "Bug Busters"). It wasn't... on purpose, since he just saw bird and took it, but the surprise was useful all the same!

They're not super hard to get otherwise! Mikey and Raph just picked theirs up at a general shop in the Hidden City. Donnie's was the only one that cost much, but that was because he was picky. It's made blending into the crowd a lot easier.
