âYer really bad at this.â It was none of his business that some other vampire couldnât seem to either a) compel someone into stepping outside or b) seemed too awkward to hold the attention of someone they intended on feeding on. And yet he couldnât just watch the poor thing suffer, for all he knew she was new at this. Two seats away from her at the bar, heâd already fed for the evening and was just thoroughly amused and somewhat horrified at the display heâd been watching for the last thirty minutes. âIf yer trying tae do what I think yer trying tae do.â Jamie actually looks her way and canât help but be at least a little amused. âLord help ye if yer trying tae flirt.â @p-earlrenaudâ
Pearl was working on a more subtle tactic than what sheâd resorted to. The hunger returned quickly, and her need to feed demanded a more sustainable method. Drawing on returned memories, sheâd tried to work out the specifics of how her sire had controlled her, but it wasnât a technique sheâd mastered on her own, clumsily trying it out in the bar with failed results. She was determined to not hurt anyoneâ to avoid as much harm as possible while she learned about what sheâd become and how to reverse it. The man she was trying it out on gave her as exasperated look as he picked himself off his stool and found another spot at the bar away from, and Pearl buried her face in her palms. She looked up at the accent, an unusual one for the area, but directed her attention to the half drained cocktail in front of her in embarrassment. âIâm really not trying to flirt,â she insisted in a timid voice, swirling the speared olive in the glass with her finger tip. âIâm just trying to⌠make new friends.â Pearl winced at the reply as she uttered it, finally meeting his eye.
