I hope to have consolidated the purpose and context of my work through the experimental development of a studio practise that encourages narrative in and on a variety of objects and materials. 

I plan on coming to a conclusion of this year’s body of work by pushing the boundaries of materials in the industry surrounding customisation in ways that enhance the surfaces to give a visual that has the ability to carry narrative beyond convention and trends apparent in the industry. 

(However, I do feel there is a movement towards a more exploratory and experimental custom scene from a few makers and builders which I hope to join and follow. Influencing a new strand of narrative custom that lies deeper than an aesthetic tradition.)

Currently I am exploring the idea of structure as a narrative for the materials it is displayed on. I plan to find material limitations within the processes available to me. Taking conventional methods and using them in creative ways to create a holistic narrative piece is one of my goals of this unit.

At present I intend on developing material uses and my repertoire of surface finishes to create more ways of displaying a narrative through object. 

My approach to problem solving will be tested throughout the unit with the intention of pushing my practise and forcing personal development as a designer, illustrator and maker. 

As learning is an important part of any practitioner’s development, I want to embrace new modern technologies such as 3D printing and CNC machining to speed up a prototyping process while integrating craft and looking to maintain a craft aesthetic with this interdisciplinary method.
