Make no mistake. Trans people, especially trans women, are the canary in the coal mine. If the United States government manages to pass legislation making it essentially illegal to be trans again, mark my words it WILL continue on up to sending us right back into McCarthyism and the “kill or imprison anything you disagree with or dislike” policies of the 1950s (not that that hasn’t already been happening under the radar, but it’s going to be More).

There really are people out there who are acting like suggesting genetic testing to “confirm the identity” of a group of people isn’t a wildly dangerous thing for a government to start doing. This is not a door that should be opened.

Everyone needs to see this. We can’t just let them discriminate against us, we have rights and we should fight for them. Our government is actively trying to push down minorities and no one is talking about it. This affects me and many of my friends. This could affect you or a friend you have. Even if this doesnt affect you, SPREAD THIS INFORMATION AND BE AN ALLY. We’re not gonna live in a broken country where freedom and equality is preached but only certain groups have those rights to equality and liberty. We shouldn’t have to live in fear of what human right our government is gonna strip away from us next. Please spread this.

that moment in paciencia y fe (which in general is just a really powerful song) when abuela claudia says “and ay mamá, what do you do when your dreams come true? i’ve spent my life inheriting dreams from you!” is just so amazing because it takes this elderly woman who would typically be restricted to the role of the “wise mentor” or whatever and it makes her vulnerable and human and it’s amazing i love that line so much

I love Abuela Claudia so much. “Paciencia Y Fe” and “Everything I Know” are some of the highlights in ITH, and they show her depth as a character, but really the whole thing is so very solid. Honestly I have to say it’s my absolute favorite musical, the characters are so fleshed out, and the women are well written with real stories that don’t revolve around their love interests. It’s beautifully done. Inútil hits hard as well, and all the Rosarios are very relatable (except Kevin’s father. I hope never to relate to him), I love it so much.

sorry to burst your bubble but misgendering “bad” trans ppl is just as transphobic as misgendering any other trans person bc it implies being correctly gendered is merely a privilege that may be revoked by cis ppl so long as they dont like us which is an incredibly harmful mindset to promote.
