Down a small run of stairs, and the room opened up into an office, lab off to the side, window separating the two areas, curtains on both sides of the wall...it definitely was what you'd expect of Urahara, based on what you could hear of him.

THESE MAD SCIENTIST TYPES ──── they really do think of everything, don't they? Izuru feels the energy shift all around him as they pass one barrier through the next, and even the slight tug on his Reiatsū while stepping past the threshold ──── no doubt the portal is composed of Sekkiseki, and Izuru can't blame the older Shinigami for such a level of caution...which begs the question of how Urahara-san even managed to get his hands on the stuff; isn't it a natural, albeit rarely-occurring, mineral found only in the Soul Society? Where did the lab equipment come from? Maybe Urahara-san still keeps in touch with someone from the Soul Society, like a member of the Twelfth Division, and they smuggle materials to the World of the Living for him?

Well, at least he seems prepared. Even has a file on him all ready to go. Certainly saves him the trouble of embarrassing himself trying to explain something he barely understands.

Izuru idly wanders over to the lab section of the underground bunker, cocking his head with an owlish curiosity at a particularly technical-looking piece of equipment: all screens and control panels, wires and pipes, glass tubes and crackling spiritual plasma, smelling faintly of ozone and something metallic...
