The Dossier- Final Steps
~overlyrated~ As you can probably tell, these are the final steps. I hope you enjoyed reading Step Ten I stared in awe at the Christmas lights strategically placed around the building. Red and green tinsel covered the floor. I looked around and suddenly felt panic because I remembered what this was for. I dug threw my bag and found my binder. I set it down on the center of the floor and wiped my sweaty palms on my shirt. I wasn’t really dressed for the occasion, but it didn’t matter because this moment was all about her. The doorknob rattled and I scrambled to the side so I couldn’t be seen. I pressed my body against ground and watched her walk over to the binder. She wrapped herself in her jacket, shivering. I wanted my body to be the thing keeping her warm. She crouched down and flipped the binder open to the first page. Check, step ten. Step Ten- Karma arrives at her favorite spot in the city and finds the secret, final page of The Dossier.
Step Eleven Karma took a deep breath and began to read,
Step One- Admit To Yourself That You Still Have Feelings For This Girl
Step Two- Choose the completely WRONG moment to make a drunken move after hanging out at a strip club… And get shot down on purpose.
Step Three- Agree that you two don’t work, locking the door on any future you could have together which will drive Karma nuts.
Step Four- Karma goes nuts.
Step Five- Find the person who annoys Karma the most in the world and ask for her help. Explain everything to Soleil and hope she agrees to help.
Step Six- Pretend to be dating Soleil.
Step Seven- Have your first big fight.
Step Eight- Tell only Shane about your plan to propose to Soleil.
Step Nine- Wait and see if Shane tells Karma
Step Ten- Karma arrives at her favorite spot in the city and finds the secret, final page of The Dossier.
Step Eleven- Karma realizes she’s standing underneath a mistletoe. She looked up and above her head was a hanging mistletoe. She stood up and gently flicked it. I took a deep breath and squeezed the box in my pocket. I emerged from my hiding spot and silently stood in front of her, watching her play with the mistletoe. I grinned as she hit it into the air, having it fall back down on its string. “Watching you like this was less creepy in my head,” I joked. Karma stopped and noticed me. She immediately knitted her eyebrows together. “Really, Amy? After all of that complete sht you put me through, you expect me to- to what? Be your girlfriend or something? I don’t think you understand the concept of deception?” She spat out, angrily. I just continued to smiled. “Stop smiling, you maniac!” I inched closer until our breathes hit the other’s face. I lifted my hand up and stroked her cheekbone with my thumb. “Mistletoe.” She pierced her lips and her unsteady arms wrapped around my neck. I shut my eyes and leaned in. Her breath hitched and her arms tightened around me. She pressed our bodies together to deepen the kiss. Our lips moved in sync and we clung onto each other as if our lives depended on it. My tongue roamed her mouth until we needed air. I stepped away from her and picked up the binder. “I’m still angry at you. You did all of that for nothing,” she whispered staring at her feet. I pushed the binder into her hands. “Turn it around,” I said. She hesitantly did what I said. Her eyes slowly moved over the words, Step Twelve- Hope she says yes. I pulled the matte box out of my pocket and got down on one knee. She lowered the binder that was blocking her view and gasped when she saw me. “Karma Ashcroft, will you marry me?” I opened the ring box to show the diamond ring nestled in velvet cloth and foam. She covered her mouth with her hands and tears streamed down her face. My eyes widened and I stuffed the box back into my pocket. I rushed over to her and pulled her into a hug. “What’s wrong?” I asked, worried. She put her hands on my shoulders. “We aren’t even dating, but I feel like marrying you would be the best decision I’ve ever made.” I pressed my forehead against hers. “We’ve known each other for so long and we live together. We’re practically dating! I know everything about you, Karma. I fell for you and there is nothing in the world that can change that. Our wedding can be extravagant, expensive, and beautiful like you’ve always imagined. I’ll be as romantic as you want! Our relationship can be full of the cliches that you love! We can reenact your favorite scenes of every fucking romance you love. I’ll buy a rowboat and we can go down the river with some dumb ducks like The Notebook. I know you love that film! We can finish everything in your bucket list like A Walk to Remember. We can make our own bucket list- together for everything we want to do as a couple. I just wanna make you happywith whatever I have because we have something everyone dreams about. We are meant to be whether you like it or not. If you reject me, that would be the biggest mistake in your life and I guarantee it. No one knows you like I do. I understand you amazingly and my vows are gonna be so damn awesome!” She smiled through her tears and extended her left hand, lifting her ring finger as high as she could. “Oh wait, is that- is that a yes?” I grabbed the ring from its box and held it over her ring finger. “Of course, buttface.” I put it on her finger easily and now I was crying. She pulled me closer and kissed me. I snaked my arms around her waist and pulled away, keeping my hands where they were. “I think it needs to be resized to something smaller, but it’s beautiful.” I smiled and pecked her lips. “Anything for you.” She jumped and wrapped her legs around my torso. I spun her around and we laughed until we had cramps. We laughed and then we would start a new life together. Maybe a family. Whatever happens is unpredictable except the only constant; Karma.
I’m just- I can’t even. I’m currently emotionally stable and not because of what I just wrote, but The Dossier ending!
The Dossier- Step Nine
Step Nine I have been talking to Shane and hanging out with Soleil a lot more, barely giving me time to talk to Karma. The only times we saw each other were night and early morning. This morning, I decided to wake extra early to go get a coffee because it was the big day. I looked over to Karma's empty bed. She's never up before me. Maybe a new early class? I texted Soleil a quick message and got changed. I got my bag and ran instead of drove to the café. I opened the door and was greeted by the aroma of coffee beans. Just the smell of it made me feel more energetic. The inside, like the outside was decorated with Christmas lights and cheeky mistletoes. I order a peppermint mocha and sat down. I draped my coat over my seat and stared out the window, watching the cloudy morning sky until the manager came over with my drink. "Hey! Is the roof set up, yet?" I asked, excited. She nodded and set the coffee down. "Yeah. She's gonna love it!" "Thank you so much! You're the best." She just rolled her eyes. "Of course. Anything for you, Raudenfeld. You've been a loyal customer since before you came to university here. You still haven't told me who 'she' is, though." "You'll find out," I said with a grin. I turned to thank her again, but ended up not since I spotted Shane with Karma. They were sitting three tables to my left. If they turned their heads just a bit, they would see me. I made myself small against the chair and tried to listen. "It's happening today. I should have told you earlier." "How long did you know?" Karma asked, sounding devastated. I looked over to see her puffy red eyes. "A month. It's gonna be on the roof of her favorite place which happens to be here." Karma gasped and slammed her hand against the table. "This is my favorite place! That bitch! It's the only roof I can be on without getting nauseous!" Shane sighed and patted her forearm. "I'm sorry." Karma shoved him away. "It's totally fine. I don't have any feelings for her anymore. We've grown apart." I felt a squeeze at my heart, but shook it off. "Stop lying to yourself. You're in love with her." Karma put her hands over her face. "I am! Hopelessly." She started to cry and Shane pulled her into his arms. I couldn't continue watching, so I got up with my coat, leaving my drink and walked over to the manager, making sure they didn't see me. "Can I get up on the roof now?" She nodded and led me to the 'Employees Only' door. There were steps that led to the roof. "Thank you, again. And remember, the beautiful girl who asks to go to the roof is the one I'm proposing to. Let her up?" She nodded and let me climb to the roof. I nervously opened the door. Check, step nine. Step Nine- Wait and see if Shane tells Karma
The Dossier- Steps Seven And Eight
~overlyrated & FakingItFeels~ Step Seven I clenched my fist, ready to punch something. My face was red hot as I let Soleil yell at me. We were standing in the middle of my shared dorm room as she accused me of not trusting her since I blamed her for cheating on me. Shane and Karma awkwardly watched from Karma's study desk. "I go all the way to Houston to surprise you with flowers and I see a half naked girl coming out of your bathroom! What am I supposed to think about that?" I shouted. Soleil grabbed my wrist and dragged me out the door. "That was my roommate, the one you never met," she said, loud enough so the two in my room could hear. "We're really good at this," she whispered. I smiled and agreed. "What should we do now?" I whispered back. "I don't know," Soleil said, loudly. "What do you want from me!" "Nothing! You're amazing. We're still good. I forgive you. Im sorry for overreacting." Soleil cleared her throat. "Ready to sell it?" She asked, quietly. I nodded and pulled her face towards mine. Our lips met in a hard kiss. I fumbled from the doorknob and opened the door. Karma's eyes widened at the site of us. Shane just smiled and clasped his hands together. We made our way to my bed which I pushed her onto. "Make up sex is always the best," Shane said to Karma. She just shut her eyes and looked away. I pulled away from Soleil. "S-sorry, guys. We were just-" "-caught up in the moment," Soleil finished for me. I smiled at her and pecked her lips. "Aww, you finished my sentence," I said, pretending to sound touched. "Of course, baby." She nuzzled her nose against my neck and got up. "I have to go, but I'll see you soon." "I'll miss you!" We kissed one more time before we walked to the door. "Good job," I whispered with a wink. I shut the door and turned to Shane. "Are you gonna leave anytime soon?" "Do you want me to?" He asked, visibly happy that he got to witness 'lesbians loving each other'. "No, I actually need to tell you something important. Karma, can you give us a second?" She reluctantly nodded and went into the bathroom with her earphones. I waited until I could faintly hear her music that must have been playing so loudly in her ear. Check, step seven. Step Seven- Have your first big fight. Step Eight I put my hand over my jeans pocket. "You have to promise you won't tell anyone." "Gay scouts honor!" I took out the matte box that has been in my pocket for a few hours. "I'm gonna be proposing to Soleil." "Oh my God!" He grabbed the box and opened it up. The diamond ring was nestled in between two small pieces of white foam and velvet cloth. "How did you afford this?" He asked. I smiled and closed the box, putting it back into my pocket. "It's a family heirloom. I just got it resized to fit K-Soleil's finger." "Did you tell Karma, yet?" I frantically shook my head. "No, and I don't plan to. She hates Soleil with a burning passion. So don't tell her." Shane's face fell, but he nodded. I smiled and hugged him. "Thank you." "No problem. When is this all happening?" "In a month, hopefully. She's the one. I wanna marry my best friend. "Christmas time, cute. And is Soleil actually your best friend?" "Uh-yeah. We're really close now. Girlfriend and best friend." "Okay then. Where is this happening?" "Her favorite place in the city. The roof of the café. Simple and sweet." "Can I come out, yet?" Karma shouted from the bathroom. We laughed and Shane opened the door so Karma would get out. She looked at his down face curiously. "What were you guys talking about?" Shane looked panicked. "Sad things! Like... There aren't anymore donuts. Amy wanted to tell me before you because she didn't what you to freak out, too." Karma smiled, obliviously. "I don't like donuts that much, but okay. Everything will be okay, Aimes." "We'll see about that," Shane muttered. He said goodbye and left. Karma got into her bed, facing mine. "I'm really glad you're my best friend even when I know it can't get any further." I felt a pang of guilt rise in my chest. "You too, bestie." Step Eight- Tell only Shane about your plan to propose to Soleil.

The Dossier- Steps Five And Six
~FakingItFeels & overlyrated~
Step Five I rehearsed what I was going to say before I knocked on the door. I brought my fist put and took a deep breath. “Amy? What are you doing here?” The door swung open before I could knock. I lowered my arm and nervously smiled. She let me in and got a chair out for me. “Hey. We barely know each other, but can I ask you for a favor.” “Anything to help, you know how much I love helping.” I had my fingers laced together, shaking them back and forth in a begging motion. “Please! You know I’m crazy about this girl!” She sighed. “I would love to help, but I just came back from my work abroad-“ “I came all the way from my school, Soleil! Don’t tell me it was a waste because gas is expensive these days.” She sighed. “Fine. I’ll help.” “Thank you, thank you, thank you!” I threw my arms around Soleil. “Whatever, as long as it’s helpful.” “It is! Swing by my place tomorrow?” “Alright. Now get out before my roommate comes back and thinks I’m actually a lesbian.” I laughed. “Okay, bye!” Check, step five.
Step Five- Find the person who annoys Karma the most in the world and ask for her help. Explain everything to Soleil and hope she agrees to help.
Step Six I saw a glimpse of brown hair from the corner of my eye. I smirked and crept over to the other side of the room. “Found you,” I called. Soleil pouted and moved from behind my bed. Like the twenty year olds we were, hide n’ seek seemed like the perfect game to play to relieve our boredom. “Unfair! You opened your eyes at ten!” Even when she was whining, her voice was sultry. “You didn’t noticed the other thirty seconds I didn’t count?” I asked, taking a step closer to her. She shook her head, taking my wrists and pulling me closer. Our bodies were touching. She cupped my cheek and leaned down to kiss me. I slid my arms around her waist and pushed her backwards. She fell onto my bed, dragging me down with her. I put my hands under her croptop and bit her bottom lip. “Aimes! Can I borrow-” Karma closed the door behind her and covered her eyes. “Oh.” Soleil scrambled to her feet. “Hi, Karma. I was just gonna leave.” “Are you sure you weren’t just gonna cum?" she asked annoyed with a raised brow. I held back a laugh from her wordplay and got up. “Bye, babe.” Soleil gave me one more kiss before leaving. Karma loudly sighed and glared at me when she was gone. “Next time, put a sock on the door. And please not in our dorm room, since she has her own.” “All the way in Houston!” Karma shrugged. “If she can travelled all the way here, I’m sure you can. What wouldn’t you do for even a bit of action?” I blushed. “Whatever. Sorry for that,” I said, giving Karma puppy dog eyes. She sighed. “Forgiven- if I can borrow your beanie.” “My beanie? For what?” “I just wanna wear it and see if it looks good on me.” I reached over my bedpost and took my beanie off its hook and threw it at her. “Just so you know, you look good in anything,” I said. “Especially nothing.” “Ha ha, very funny. You better stop flirting with me since you have a girlfriend now. A sexy, intelligent, helpful, caring- Damn it! Why does your girlfriend have to be so perfect? I can’t find a legit reason to hate her, but I do!” I propped myself up with my elbows. “The more girls the merrier. And why do you need a reason to hate her? You jealous?” I teased. Karma ignored me and tried to put the beanie on. She had it on wrong, so I got off my bed and helped her. We stood in front of the mirror as I placed the hat on her head correctly. “There. You look awesome. You’ll have guys swooning.” We looked into the mirror as my hands rested on her hips. “I need to tell you something.” I stepped back and listened. She tapped her fingers against her thighs, a habit she had whenever she was nervous. “I might be bi.” I stayed silent for a bit then asked, “How do you know?” She exhaled loudly and began to pace the room. “I really like this girl. Not in a friendly way and I think I want to be her girlfriend. I’m already sure she’s lesbian. It’s pretty obvious and she’s out.” I nodded. “Then ask her out,” I replied. She grabbed at her hair in frustration. “I can’t! She’s taken and she’s my roommate,” she looked into my eyes. “It would be awkward.” I let out a nervous laugh, at least I hoped it sounded like I was nervous. “That would be awkward, considering your roommate loves her girlfriend. Goodnight, I guess.” Karma pierced her lips and tears brimmed her eyes. I climbed into bed and turned so I faced the wall. I felt terrible for playing her like this, but it had to be like this so the ending would work. Check, step six.
Step Six- Pretend to be dating Soleil.
The Dossier- Steps Three and Four
~FakingItFeels & overlyrated~ Step Three I finally got to the dorms after class. I unlocked my door and swung it open. "Are you here, Karma?" I called. There was no answer, so I processed to undress. I put on a pair of sweatpants and tank top. My next class was in half an hour, giving me enough time to take a power nap. I went under my covers and closed my eyes. "Why are you already here?" I jumped at the sound of Karma's voice. She had a floral dress on with a towel wrapped around her head. "I wanted to take a nap," I said, sitting up. "Oh, sorry. I didn't mean to bother you," she said. Karma took the towel out and ran her fingers through her hair. "No problem. I'm not that tired anyway, where are you heading?" She shrugged. "I have class in ten minutes. But I have some time to spare." I nodded and patted the empty space beside me. She sat there and crossed her legs. "I wanted to talk to you." She began to tap her finger against her thigh, nervously. "Don't worry, it's about something you probably wanted me to say for a while." "You wanna get a dorm pet?" She asked, excited. I shook my head. "Okay, what is it?" I took a deep breath and turned my body to face her. "I am done, trying to get you," I paused to take in her reaction. She remained emotionless so I continued. "We both know it wouldn't work out because you don't like girls and we're roommates. It would be impossible so I'm gonna back off. We can both move on with our lives and relationships." Karma looked down at the ground. "This is- this is good. Great even. I'm happy we can... Move pass this." She clenched her jaw, annoyed. "Yeah. You should get going." She got up. "I should. Goodbye." "Bye." She left and shut the door behind her, a bit too harshly. Check, step three. Step Three- Agree that you two don't work, locking the door on any future you could have together which will drive Karma nuts. Step Four Shane and I sat alone at the café by our university. We were just talking about the attractive people here for orientation when I felt someone's arms around my shoulders. I looked up and saw Karma. She had on a giant smile. "Hey, Aims. Mind if I join ya?" I shook my head and kicked a chair out for her. She thanked me and greeted Shane. He just waved. "I'm gonna go and let you two talk. See you later." "Are you sure?" By the time I completed my question, he was out. Karma reached her hand out and took mine. "We should hang out later. Just the two of us." She stroked the palm of my hand with her thumb. "Sure. Like a friendly date." She opened her mouth to speak, but shut it and just nodded. "Just friends." "Great! Can't wait, girly-friend." I winked at her playfully and she laughed a little to loudly. "You are so funny! I just love it when someone's funny!" She leaned closer to me. "I just love it." "Okay. Good to know?" I moved away. "I'm gonna go to class. We can plan in our room." She nodded enthusiastically and hugged me before I could leave. When I left, I shook my head with laughter. I found it extremely entertaining watching her in desperate mode. She just hated the fact that she couldn't have me since I 'closed the door' on us so she tried extremely hard to get me. Everyone wants what they can't have. Check, step four. Step Four- Karma goes nuts.
The Dossier
~overlyrated and FakingItFeels~ We got the idea of HIMYM and Faking It because there was a girl named Quinn whose stripper name was Karma. I don’t know.. This is going to be based around Barney Stinson’s proposal to Robin Scherbatsky on How I Met Your Mother. We’ll be skipping and changing some steps. All in Amy’s point of view. Enjoy!
Karma Ashcroft is a girl who is always planning. Binders, dossiers, memos, notes, laminated note, you name it and she’s made it. Now that Karma and Amy are in college together and what happened in high school doesn’t matter, Amy decides to be the one with a plan for once.
Step One
I watched as Karma got ready for her hopefully final date with Liam. She was in a royal purple maxi dress which looked great on her and probably only her. She stood in front of a mirror and began curling her hair. “Are you sure you don’t need back up?” I asked for the third time tonight. She laughed and shook her head. “I’m fine!” I frowned and walked over to her. “I’ll always be here for you,” I said, putting my chin on her shoulder. “I know, which is why I love you so much!” She set the curling iron down and used two fingers to lift the corners of my mouth up. “You look better smiling. See you soon,” she said, kissing my cheek and leaving our dorm room. Why was she so amazing? I ran over to the window and saw her get into her car. “Don’t regret this,” I whispered to myself. When she drove off, I took my clothes off and slipped into a champagne silk dress. Since it was chilly, I threw a trenchcoat over it with a scarf. They were sitting together in a fancy steakhouse when I came in and took Karma’s hand. Liam greeted me with a small wave. Karma stood up, shocked by my presence. “Why are you here?” She asked. “I told you that I didn’t need backup!” “I know, but I love you, Karma. You’re on a date right now, but I’m not the one sitting with you, laughing with you, eating with you, or kissing you, instead it’s Liam. I couldn’t wait to tell you this because I’m perfect for you. I don’t want you wasting your life with him.” “I’m right here!” I threw a glare Liam’s way which shut him up. Karma was standing, dumbstruck. It took her a few minutes to comprehend what I just said, but by the time she did, Liam pulled money out of his wallet and put it on the table. He was walking towards the door. “You guys are perfect for each other. I’ve known that since high school, but I was selfish and wanted you to myself, Karma. It’s over, goodbye.” Karma turned to me and shoved me. I fell back and hit the wall behind me. “You just ruined my date with Liam!” I stayed quiet and watched her grabbed her coat and keys. “When you come home, you better go right to bed so I don’t see your face.” Shit shit shit! I grabbed her wrist before she could leave. “It-it was fake, I don’t really love you, anymore! Shane told me Liam was going to break up with you today, yeah… that’s why he gave up so easily. I knew how much more it would hurt if he waited til the end of your date.” Her eyes got watery and she threw her arms around me. It was a lie. Liam and I talked last week and he agreed to let me have a chance with Karma. I stroked her hair. Even though I felt horrible for lying to her, I loved how close she was. “Let’s go home.” She nodded and let me lead her out. Check, step one.
Step One- Admit To Yourself That You Still Have Feelings For This Girl
Step Two “Get up and stop mopping.” Karma had her face buried in a pillow and when she spoke, it was muffled. I sighed and got off my bed. I walked over to her’s and sat beside her. “You know what will cheer you up?” I asked, putting my hand on her shoulder. She threw the pillow across the room and shook her head. “The strip club!” She groaned. “I don’t wanna-” I put my hand over her mouth. “Well, not for you. I need you to be my wingwoman. But, hey if you want, you can pick up a lady.” She glared at me. “I’m not a lesbian, Amy.” I rolled my eyes. “All girls are lesbians when they’re drunk.” I grabbed her wrist and pulled her off her mattress. She fell onto her ass. “Amy!” “Sorry.” I helped her stand up. “I just want you to get out there and have some fun.” I pulled open one of her drawers and threw some of her clothes on the floor. “Pick out your outfit.” She reluctant picked up a pair of shorts and v-neck. “I’ll be waiting outside while you get changed.” I grabbed my keys and left our dorm room. I dug through my pocket and pulled out a slip of paper. “Step two… Please work.” I put it back into my pocket and got into my car. Karma came out looking simple yet stunning, not that she cared anyway. I leaned over the passenger’s seat and opened the door for her. “Wow, you don’t look like you’ve been in bed for the last two weeks!” “Shut up,” she said, trying not to smile. I started the car and we made our way to the strip club. Three shots and a private show later, I began to worry about Karma. I haven’t seen her since we went inside. I stumbled to the bar. The bartender turned to me. “Have you seen a short, auburn haired girl with-” I heard someone shout my name behind me. It could have been any girl named Amy, but I turned around anyway and saw Karma with another girl. I made my way to her when she smiled. “Say hi to Amanda.” Karma gestured to the bleach blonde standing next to her. She waved at me. “Amanda, this is the Amy I was talking to you about.” “Prettier than you described, which I didn’t think was possible.” Amanda winked at me while biting her bottom lip. “Gotta keep your standards low.” They laughed while I tilted my head in confusion. Karma pulled me aside. “I’m being your wingwoman,” she said into my ear. “I just wanna go home. Can you drive me home?” She nodded and said bye to Amanda. We walked outside. “Alright, I already got you Amanda’s number-” I shut her up with my lips. After a few seconds, she pushed me away. “What the hell?” She shouted. “I don’t want Amanda. She’s no Karma. I just want you. I love you.” “I can’t. I’m not- get someone else to drive you!” She ran off with my keys and drove off in my car. I stood there with a wide smile on my face. Step two, check.
Step Two- Choose the completely WRONG moment to make a drunken move after hanging out at a strip club… And get shot down on purpose.
