There was a letter left in the mailbox, it was obviously one of Courier’s envelopes. There was a doodle of a bird on the front. …He seemed to be putting elix’s pens to use!
It was addressed to you, so it couldn’t have been a mistake. A little odd he chose to put it in the mailbox rather than just hand it off to you, then again he could’ve just missed delivering mail.
In any case, the hand writing was sloppier than you’d expect, but legible.
“Hey, Comedian! I didn’t have a real reason for a letter. It just felt like a good excuse to deliver some mail.
It’s also a good excuse to give you a thank you letter. It’s about time I thanked you properly…Little worried the pudding isn’t quite getting my message across. So thanks, bud! For everything. You know how good of a friend you are to me, right? I wouldn’t be alive without you here, honestly. Even if it’s a little heavy to think about. I’m working on that, so nothing to worry about either.
I am real thankful for you letting me live with you too, even if I technically have my own place. …It is “occupied” right now, but it’s the thought that counts. Sorry for the breakdowns. Don’t mean to make you deal with my mess, even if it is comforting that you’re here.
I also just wanna let you know you’re a wonderful person. I don’t know how to tell you in a meaningful way. I hope the cinnamon rolls make up for that. I honestly think of you like a brother, if that’s no issue on your part. I’m happy that you’re around. I’m happy that you’ve stayed, I’m happy that I’ve stayed. Your jokes are very funny, too. I would’ve slipped in a pun somewhere along the way, but wordplay isn’t my strong suit. Guess it’s better to leave that to the ones that’re good at it, huh?
I can’t really think of anything else to write. Words are not what I’m best at. On another note, I found a recipe for a lemonade cake. We could bake it together, if you want! I’d just like to bake something with you. Maybe we could talk about my mom. She would’ve really liked you. Maybe we could make brownies together sometime. Just let me know, alright?
comedian had indeed gotten the letter! he bounced his heels out of habit, smiling at the mailbox. she pulled the letter out carefully, taking time to take a look at the outside and to admire it. it was pretty, comedian could tell you that! he always liked seeing what envelopes courier used!
and then he didn't even notice it, but xe was smiling at the thought of the letter, and she always appreciated when courier did stuff for her. it always made him feel guilty- like comedian wasn't doing enough for him. comedian wanted to do more.
he settled in the kitchen. he had planned to take his time to read the letter, making sure to savor whatever courier wanted to say to him- she was pretty sure courier was happy when he did that.
... oh. wow. comedian hadn't even finished the letter, it was just the first part- and yet he was already getting emotional.
shaking hands. he could recognize his hands were shaking- the same way comedian couldn't shake the smile off his face despite the fact that tears were building up slowly, and the giggling turned into little sobs.
she didn't know why she was crying. maybe it was just the proof that yes, he was loved, yes, he doesn't have to worry, and- .. courier was such a good friend. comedian couldn't believe he was crying over a letter.
she barely finished the letter before she pushed herself up from the table and marched right over to courier's door. they pushed the door open slightly, peaking his head in.
courier?
