hi i was wondering if you could talk about dnf synastry
i really don’t understand astrology but i love seeing people talk about it
hi anon of course! ive actually been meaning to get into it but it's just such a complicated and very long topic i never knew where to start but i'll use this to get into the basics!
DISCLAIMER I am not a professional and I do this for fun + it's been a hypfx of mine for a longgg while now. I've been reading dnfs synastry and their natal charts for like i guess 2 years by now but I do it alone and barely have other people to talk to about this (untl recently shoutout to my priv moots) so there may be things that I've interpreted wrong slash placed focus on a specific effect of an aspect (as there can be many manifestations of an aspect in relation to other synastry aspects in their chart and personal placements in their natals) if ever u think ive got something wrong or you want me to go further in depth feel free to tell me!
ok now let's get into it.
this is the synastry chart that I use
the outer circle (blue stuff) is dream and the inner circle is George.
So let's start with what a synastry is. Basically, a synastry chart is two people's natal charts laid on top of each other like the way you see in the picture I added above. Astrologers use synastry charts to see the relationships of the planets in the two people's charts, whether their compatibility is good or not. Keep in mind a synastry reading is not the same as telling the future. This doesn't cement anything as fact, just highlights possible tendencies in a relationship, behaviors that may cause strife and arguments, and what parts of the relationship can come easy.
So now let's get into what aspects are. An aspect is the connection between planets/luminaries with one another as they orbit around the sun. It's categorized by how close they are together and the angles they form. (measured by degrees) The closer they are the softer the aspect and the father apart they are the harder the aspect.
The first three are considered soft aspects and the last three are considered hard aspects.
conjunct - under the same sign or forms a 0° angle
sextile - forms a 60° angle
trine - forms a 120° angle
square - forms a 90° angle
quincunx or inconjunct - forms a 150° angle
opposition - directly opposite or forms a 180°
but most of the time planets don't form exact angles which is when astrologers allow an orb of influence (i promise this is important) which describes the impact of the aspect. For example, a square aspect would create a 90° angle. But if the planets don't line up exactly at 90° but instead at 95° that would still make the aspect a square aspect however it would have an orb of 5°. The smaller the orb the greater the effect the aspect has on the two people, especially if it's a major aspect.
so now onto dnfs synastry.
I mentioned the orbs and the aspects because it's essential to understanding what I'll be talking about. I want to be able to explain it as best I can without having to oversimplify their aspect, therefore 'watering it down.'
The very first aspect that most people notice in their synastry is the venus mars conjunct and I know other people have talked about this but I still think it's good to bring up because WOW.
Okay so remember when I mentioned tighter/closer orbs have greater impact and influence as an aspect? Yeah, so their venus mars conjunct (which is crazy enough as it is) meet at exactly 0°. It is an exact conjunction.
When we talk about venus, we're talking about love, beauty, art, and money. It can tell us a lot about how we deal with the matters of the heart and as well as what gives us pleasure in life. It also tells us about what attracts us and what is attractive about us.
Mars is all about action and energy. It's aggression and desire. Mars and venus come hand in hand because while venus rules romance, mars rules sexuality. It's our drive and the impulses we find hard not to give in. Your mars sign can tell you a lot about sexual desires and a well as how you respond to conflict.
In a synastry, a venus mars conjunct is a good aspect to have in a relationship. (again dnf have it in an exact degree making it all the more hard-hitting) It can be a good indicator for having a
In a synastry, a venus mars conjunct is a good aspect to have in a relationship (again dnf have it in an exact degree making it all the more hard-hitting) It can be a good indicator for a relationship, other astrologers even refer to this as a soulmate aspect or a marriage aspect. It can also indicate that the relationship will always be fun and exciting, never a dull moment between you two. With a venus mars synastry, right off the bat there is a connection between two people, one that they cannot ignore. It hits hard, especially when meeting in person. See: George leaning in for a kiss twice in the meetup vlog and asking Dream to get in bed with him like jesus christ. Also twitchcon SD where they genuinely cannot keep their hands off each other, finding ways to touch and be close.
A venus mars conjunct indicates that there is an undeniable chemistry between two people and very strong sexual compatibility. It’s exciting and intense. Magnetic in a way that nothing else has been before. Even from the start there has always been this feeling of toeing the line between love and friendship. This kind of connection is one that stays with you and you might even find yourself comparing it to past connections or maybe even future ones. Think the way I loved you by Taylor Swift. No matter what, it’s not something you can ignore. Both people know how to get under the other's skin and push their buttons just right.
Mars is a masculine planet while venus is a feminine planet. The mars person, in this case it’s george, tends to be the one that initiates. He may bring his and the venus person’s own desires to the surface and act on it. Venus (dream) brings comfort and home. He brings in a sort of domestic feeling into this partnership, like they could have something more– something deeper than just the physical.
There is a deep understanding of each other's desires and needs and a mutual appreciation of said desires but also the qualities the other person possesses. This can create a good synergy between them, a good balance of giving and taking.
A problem, however, with this aspect is that while it can create a beautiful and deep connection, it is also very intense. If a couple has this aspect and is surrounded by other hard aspects there is a possibility for possessiveness and jealousy. In times when communication is not clear (example a relationship is not defined) it is extremely easy for this aspect to lead to ‘hate sex’ LOL as in pushing each other's buttons so much so that tension becomes so high and the next thing you know clothes are off and everything. I don’t think this is really something dnf need to worry about (at least, to the point where it becomes a hindrance to a happy relationship) because they have other harmonious and soft aspects that support this one.
One aspect that they have that I believe supports their venus mars well is their moon trine mars which is right beside the venus mars. A mars and moon trine makes them feel instantly connected to each other, much like the venus mars conjunct. This, however, is one of those aspects that can indicate a good and long-lasting relationship. It can offer the emotional balance that lacks in a venus mars aspect. There’s connection and understanding here, a deep kind of compatibility that makes them a good team. I like to think of this as a friends to lovers aspect because of how good the connection is. It’s the kind of aspect that you would want in a best friend, a lover, a partner, a teammate. And who wouldn’t want to find all of that in one person?
In a moon mars trine, it is usually the moon person (dream) that kind of opens the relationship into something deeper. Mars (george) feels deeply for moon but may not instantly know how to express it well but moon helps mars grow out of their shell, opens their eyes to new things and new perspectives. Mars invites moon to express more, to let out feelings and to open up.
Overall a moon mars couple tend to be inseparable, attached to the hip. They look for each other when they need comfort or when they’re looking for fun. Compromise and communication comes easy to this couple, sometimes it may not even be needed. They support each other and cheer each other on. They are each other’s biggest fan and in return they are also the biggest inspiration in the other’s life.
With my knowledge of Dream's chart and just Dream in general, it’s very obvious that he’s a creative person and one of the ways he expresses that is through storytelling. I feel like this is the kind of aspect that makes someone write a song about their lover. This feeling of going into a big project, knowing how much vulnerability is needed yet still going through it because you feel supported enough by your partner that you know no matter what things will be okay. I can see George being Dream’s biggest supporter for this. As in barricade to all his shows (or in the wings or a vip section), wearing his merch dancing to the lyrics. It’s the kind of grand gesture of love that mars brings out in people. Less words and more of showing you how much I care.
And just like the venus-mars, this moon-mars trine results in good sexual compatibility. Along with their emotional connection, the physical compatibility just makes their partnership seem like there will never be anything better than this, no one else will know them as well or as deeply as the other person.
Mars (george) understands moon. (just btw, moon rules over our innermost self, its our feelings and how we deal with things. It’s home and comfort. It is the deepest parts of our hearts. For someone to get this part of you, they get the innermost you, even the person you are when no else is looking) Mars understands and acknowledges the desires of moon and feels the need to make it happen, to be the one to give it to them. The best way I can describe it is mars is undyingly devoted to moon, no matter what.
But not every aspect they have is a soft aspect, they also have a couple hard ones. But even that seems to work in their favor.
Here’s one that I really like; their Mercury opposition Uranus.
An opposition aspect seems scary sometimes, as it can result in conflicts but this one isn’t all bad. In fact, we’ve seen it in action several times.
This kind of aspect brings forth different thought processes and communication styles. For example, one may be rigid and logical while the other may be more emotional and thinks in a roundabout way. Either way, this challenges the other person’s way of thinking. They offer opportunities to broaden perspectives and to change opinions, even if nothing will change.
All the times that dream and george have debated on space, on podcasts. All the tiny disagreements they have off camera. The little things like having different solutions to the same problem. All of that is a possible manifestation of this aspect. Leos and Scorpios are competitive and prideful. While this kind of aspect can cause miscommunications due to their stubbornness as individuals (think, when george wanted to see dreams face and dream wanted to hear george say i love you and it ended in a slight argument with dream saying george thinks the physical appearance matters more and george saying he doesn’t need to say I love you LIKE T_T george has seen dreams face now and dream got his i love you from george so it’s all good but this is a good example) This aspect can also ensure that they’ll never be bored, never run out of things to say. This is a relationship that never feels lonely in the silent moments. And after all the debates and disagreements, they come out of it knowing each other more than they did before.
This ask is already getting so long and I’ve only covered two of their aspects LOL but really they have a lot of aspects, both soft and hard. But I genuinely think that despite the hard aspects, they have enough soft aspects that can act as like a ‘padding’ to the difficulties that might arise.
Before I finish this off, I wanted to talk a little bit about their natal charts and how well they fit together.
In George’s natal chart, he has venus opposite the planet saturn. We’ve already talked about what venus is so now let’s get into saturn. Saturn rules over restrictions, limitations. It has to do with time and our responsibilities. With george’s saturn opposite his venus, there’s delays for him in love. It doesn’t come easy to him and not always is it something he feels like he can have. Whether the obstacles be internal or external, there is always something getting in the way of him meeting or having love (ahem visa ahem)
But saturn isn’t a planet of denial. It doesn’t take things away from you. Saturn may delay his love but there’s no stopping him from having it. It may take him years (7 years of knowing each other and 3 years of waiting) but it will come. And once it does, every single aspect in their chart, everything that affects them physically, the need to be near and to touch and be close, all of that lights up and goes haywire, for both of them. Which I think is really interesting.
Synastry doesn’t cover the amount of waiting they had to do to be together. In the time they spent apart, they had the chance to deepen their relationship and friendship in the ways that they can; emotionally. Which is something that I know a lot of astrologers worry about when it comes to a venus mars conjunct. That it’ll be all impulse, no thinking. No time for building an emotional bond together. But dnf have because it was all they could have. And I think that’s something I would be in the wrong to dismiss. It was a massive part of their life where they had to compromise and work together. In the years they’ve known each other, not once did they drift apart. They didn’t give up and they waited it out, and I think saturn gave them this chance to give definition to who they are without anything getting in the way. It’s sad that they waited and it’s sad that George has this aspect, but in some ways I just think it’s beautiful. Especially when we get to see how close they are now, how much of each other has been home for a long time.
Sorry for getting too into it there but their synastry never fails to make me emotional. I think no matter what, they’ll always have a special bond. If it took them years to realize it, if they knew this whole time, I don’t think it changes much. I might just be biased but I genuinely think they could last forever. Even when it gets hard, just a little patience, communication, and compromise will go a long way.
Thank you so much for sending me an ask! feel free to ask questions or anything anon i appreciate this I love talking abt astrology (as you can see from this long ass fucking post)
