i just wanted to ask, did you ever do any training/go to college and pursue art professionally? and how did you get to where u are now artistically? ive been doing life drawing classes but i rly dont know how to apply it to my work. tips on how you use irl references in ur art?

I haven't gone through any kind of schooling. Like a lot of online artists these days, I'm totally taught off of online tutorials and messing around on my own. We should all be very grateful for the amount of free resources there are online!!
Regarding references, I recommend combining photographs/real-life observation with other artworks depicting that subject. For instance, look at a head from a certain angle, and then look how another artist has drawn that same angle. You can begin to map real-life features onto the abstractions in the drawing. It's easier to hold onto the observations you might make looking at a person or a photo if you're thinking of ways to use those observations in your art.

Your art is so gorgeous! Do you have any tips for color choices? I find yours always look so nice and I'd like to get better at picking colors
Hello! I'm really flattered you like my art!
I'm still learning how to pick colors and do lighting myself. With the piece just posted, here's what my first color pass looked like when I was setting up what I wanted to do.
In real life, color and light is really complicated, and depending on your photo difficult to intuit, so it helps to break things down and simplify things into simple rules you can apply as you go - like "if this part is facing down, it should be getting that orange bounce light". The default rule I go by is that the shadow color comes from the color of the environment + color of the light
I recommend keeping an eye out for pleasing shots in movies and thinking about how those artists decided to compose the lighting and color. Movies are, like art, not really realistic or true to reality, but rather control and exaggerate colors and lighting to create something appealing.
