“the only thing i believe that will be constant in this world is gravity. i don’t believe in anything to stay the same forever. because believing in something like that sets expectations for how things should turn out. however, gravity is constant regardless of any expectations. that’s why i can believe only in gravity.”
— — baek yijin
interviewer: since they were two people who made such a good impression, some viewer pointed out that their love actually began when they were 19 and 23 years old and not 25 and 21 years old. it was not (supposed to be) a romance between teenagers and adults but (some viewers) felt uncomfortable since one of the parties was still a minor and it was the adult who first defined their relationship as “love” on that day, the response was also conveyed to the actors and producers.
“to be honest, i didn’t really feel pressured (to shoot the scene) but i’m sure joohyuk-ie must have been pressured. the director approached it very carefully. there’s a certain of level of expression (required), right? he approached it very carefully. in fact, heedo had nothing to worry about. heedo’s emotional state was the same because she was still in her teens and she was in the process of becoming an adult, but joohyuk-ie and the director had a lot to consider and they had to approach it carefully.”

Episode 5
Already feeling an emotional connection that’s definitely way beyond friendship. They probably don’t understand themselves what they feel for each other. But openly communicating their vulnerability is brave. There’s acceptance. There’s tenderness.
So wait a minute
WAIT A MINUTE okay?
You are telling me Baek Yijin didn't have to worry about the nature of their relationship because he ALREADY knew he was falling in love with her?

So now it's been several hours since I watched the finale and I can genuinely say I've never had a show mess with my mental health this way. I've been thinking about why all day and I think I understand now.
Heedo gets this really beautiful closure scene at the end of the episode, but it's one sided. Also we, as the audience, get no closure.
I've spent eight weeks getting to know these characters, coming to care for them, and frankly, falling in love with them. And yet I don't get to know where they ended up. All I know is that 2022 Heedo spends 95% of her time feeling nostalgic and melancholic. She has a shop named after a failed relationship. She's married to a nobody ( as far as we are allowed to know) man who is for some reason abroad.... for what seems like an extended period of time, even though the lack of time spent together was one of Heedo's reason to break up with Yijin.
But also WHAT ABOUT YIJIN?? Did he ever find anyone else? Is he still single and dreaming about his first love? Did he develop healthy coping mechanisms? Does he have friends outside of work? Does he have a support system outside of his immediate family and work colleagues? Are he and Seungwan still friends because she's with his brother?
Is Seungwan still with his brother? Did she learn to love her job? Or even better, find a job that that is worthy of her and somewhere she's appreciated? Are her and Ji Woong still friends?
Are Ji Woong and Yurim still married? How is his website going? Why had him Seungwan not seen each other for so long before the funeral? Do he and Yurim have kids?
How is Yurim's academy going? Are her and Heedo still best friends? Was Heedo her Maid of Honor? Is she still friends with Yijin?
WHY DID HEEDO HAVE YIJIN'S PHOTO??
There are so many unanswered questions that I, as someone who cares for and loves these characters, believe I deserve to know.
If only to be able to love on and know they are happy.
you know what's poetic cinema? Baek Yijin dropping the yellow rose that signifies friendship when Na Heedo tells she has to have him showing that his feelings are growing beyond platonic.
twenty five twenty one; ep 5
do you know what else is so crazy and beautiful about this very scene and the camera directing here? it is the fact that yijin knew he could cross the line because he now realized how much heedo really meant to him, that, even by just her existence, it already gives him every comfort he's pursuing in life. that, she is his safe place.
and also the fact that yijin now realized he's brave enough to get up once again to face the reality and strive for what he always been wanting. so he decided to take her hand, be by her side, while running towards their dream together. all for his sake, and for heedo's.
"i'm going to your world." -na heedo
"wait for me, heedo." -baek yijin
near tears as i’m rewatching clips from ep 9…her being a mess and almost in tears because she likes him so much but can’t pinpoint what their relationship is and he just laughs at her, pats her head, and just says that he’s done worrying about it and that he never needed to because HE KNOWS HES LOVED HER THIS WHOLE TIME
Baek Yijin telling Hee-do's ex "She only deserves greatest moments. And I can provide her those greatest moments" and "What do you mean she doesn't know what she is doing? I know what I am doing" is legit him saying I am so fucking sure of my feelings and also aware of our situation and what it means which is WHY I won't ever use my feelings as an excuse to cross the line.

“let’s suffer together when we’re in pain. It’s a hundred times better than being lonely alone”
"this drama was sad from the very beginning. since i already knew the ending, even the bright part felt nostalgic and sad. i was sad and heartbroken when i saw the ending.
still, i think the audience gave us a lot of love because na heedo and baek yijin were so pretty. during pre-promotion, we called it "the story of everyone's first love" but it was much more beautiful than that. the relationship between the two was so special and beautiful that i wonder who has ever had such a first love. heedo was really lovely and baek yijin was a really warm person.
i think that's why people who support the two naturally wanted the story to end in marriage. if i were part of the audience, i would have too. i'm sorry to everyone who gave us so much love. i'm sad too."
ㅡ kim taeri, on the ending of twenty five, twenty one

“Like, if we were meeting together for the first time right now, part of me… I dunno, part of me thinks we would’ve made it. Steve…”
it’s good to be different and it’s good to be sort of like go against the grain and challenge what’s normal. you’ll thank yourself later.
