m.c. imagine ➢ tangled AU
A/N: so i did a cinderella AU for luke and i decided to do princess AUs for the rest of the boys. here’s michael’s :) - I sat alone in my tower, looking outside the window at the large ivy-colored stone that was taller than the tower itself. The waterfall sounded loud but quiet for it was so far away. I watched as it flowed down the stone and disappeared in a cloud of mist at the bottom. Days were always like this as long as I could remember. Mother kept me up here, away from the outside world. I let my long hair flow out the window. Yes, it’s long enough to reach the bottom of the tower. I sighed, hearing the birds chirp in the trees growing near the ground. “(Y/N), I’m coming up!” I heard a familiar voice. I snapped out of my daze and yelled down. “Yes, Mother!” I felt a tug on my head as my mother climbed up the tower’s walls, using my hair as a long rope. She stumbled through the window as I helped her up. “(Y/N), darling, you need to stop leaving your hair out when I’m gone! You never know what kind of things could get stuck in there,” she laughed, putting her basket and cloak down on the table. “It just gets kind of stuffy with all of it in here,” I shrugged, pulling it back up through the window. It was the only way you could get in and out of the tower. My mother sighed, fixing up the mess that I left on the ground. “You need to stop leaving your paint out on the ground, it will spill on the floor and I’m not going to be the one who cleans it up.” “Yes mother.” She walked over the chairs set up near the fireplace, sitting down. “Well, it’s getting late, tomorrow I have to go back to the market to pick up my dress from the tailor, that bastard wasn’t done when I got there, a complete waste of time-” I tuned Mother’s voice out, laying out my paint on the table. In a few days, it would be my birthday, and all I ever wanted was just one day outside my tower. - Mother left for the market early that morning, leaving me alone to daydream about my birthday. I imagined how great it would be to run around on proper ground, to feel the sunshine on my whole body, to actually see the market- My thoughts were interrupted by a voice down at the bottom of my tower. “Hello!? Anyone up there?! A little help!” I looked down, and saw a small figure standing on the ground. How was that possible? No one ever found the tower, ever. “Hey, you up there! I can see you, help me up, would you? I’m kind of in some trouble!” I panicked, turning away from the window. My hair fell out the window before I could decide what to do. I yelped, trying to grab it before too much fell out, but it was too late. I felt a tug as the man started to climb the tower. I ran to the corner of the room and started rocking back and forth, grabbing a pan from the kitchen for protection. The man finally made it to the top, helping me pull all my hair back in the place. “Woo, that’s quite a workout. Thanks for the help,” he said, out of breath. I curiously looked at him. I hadn’t seen anyone except Mother for as long as I could remember. He was surprisingly handsome, with a smirk that seemed to stick to his face, green eyes, and hair that looked so pale it was almost white. “Hey, are you okay?” he asked, kneeling down next to me. I tried to swing the pan at him, but he dodged out of the way. “Woah there! Don’t do that, calm down. It’s okay, I’m not going to hurt you.” He had a serious look on his face. “I’m Michael, and you are?” “(Y/N),” I stuttered, standing up to my feet and lowering my pan. “Nice place you’ve got here. Small, but nice. It’s bigger than my house, actually,” he laughed. “Thanks again for helping me up.” “Why did you need help in the first place?” I asked, stuffing my hair against the wall to make room. “Well, it’s kind of a long story,” he said, scratching his neck. “To get to the point, I picked up this beauty and some guys were chasing me, this and that happened and I ended up here!” Michael pulled out a crown from his bag, glistening with diamonds and silver. My eyes widened. “You stole that!? You’re a thief!” “Not really a thief, more of a borrower,” he said, putting his hands up in defense. “Why did I let you inside? Mother’s going to kill me! I have to report you, somehow-” “No way! Please don’t!” Michael got scared. “Don’t report me, (Y/N).” “Why not? Isn’t that what the guards have to do, report people who steal?” “You don’t understand,” Michael said, sitting in a chair near the table. “I need this crown. If I sell it, I’ll get at least a hundred dollars for it, maybe more.” I scoffed. “Really? You need it for money?” “The money’s not for me!” he screamed. “It’s for my family! They’re struggling to survive, we have no food at home, and my mother is sick. If we don’t get help soon, she might-” He sighed. “Forget it.” “No, Michael, I’m sorry,” I said, feeling empty for being so rude. “I didn’t know-” “It’s fine, how could you know anyway? Just, please, don’t turn me in, I’ll do anything.” I jumped a little. Anything? “You’d do anything?” “Woah, don’t get too excited.” I smiled. “Would you,” I looked towards the window. “Help me out of here? See the outside world?” Michael paused, looked at me weirdly, then laughed. “Go outside? That’s it?” I nodded. “Please. For one day? And you can keep your stupid crown and sell it.” “Fine, it’s a deal.” He shook my hand, then smiled. “Why don’t we leave right now?” “Right now? Really?” “Come on, I don’t have all day. Let’s just go already,” he complained, dragging me towards the window. I looked down at the window and took a deep breath, letting my hair fall down the side of the wall. “I’ll go down first,” Michael said, swinging his legs over the windowsill. He looked over his shoulder. “Ready to see the world, (Y/N)?” - hey guys! if this gets enough notes/enough requests, I’ll do a part two! just tell me in my ask if you want it :) requests are open! send me feedback and ideas for writing! main blog: http://lukesbatman.tumblr.com/ writing blog: http://opticlifford.tumblr.com/
