Reyna frowned as the little girl climbed up on the ledge, but the elder girl didn’t seem to want to stop her. They were multiple stories up. But then again, Reyna remembered sitting with Darcy on the edge of a cliff, kicking their feet as they stood on what felt like the edge of the world. How exhilerating it was. And how Reyna knew that she’d protect Darcy if she fell. This was a house of freaks mutants like her. Maybe they didn’t need to fear heights either. “Reyna. Nice to meet you too.”
Isla finally seems to acknowledge Reyna, looking up at her and then her mom. She wasn’t very good at talking to strangers who were older than her, but that’s because where she and her mom came from wasn’t a very nice place. Opi notices her hesitance and smiles, picking Isla up off the ledge and balancing her on her hip even though she was quickly becoming too tall to be carried this way. “How are you liking it so far? A bit stuffy, yeah? It’s like... Wow... But stuffy.”
