      A cursory glance is paid to the tiny form that shuffles up to stand beside him, peering up at him from from behind the crook of his elbow. Canting his head to one side, his gaze lids patiently as he waits for her to find the diction she appears to be grasping at and voice whatever query thatâs caught on the cusp of her tongue.Â
      -- when he was human? ...in truth, he wasnât truly certain that he ever had been human ; not entirely, anyway. But  a l i v e  -- oh, what a time itâd been to be alive in!
      â -- well, they didnât call it the roarinâ twenties for nothinâ, darlinâ! The economy was booming, consumerism was at an all time high, and nobody was more of a sheba than the flapper girl! Ha ha ha! ~ â He throws an arm down around her shoulder and swings his microphone out before her in a wide sweep, clearing the air as if it were a canvas upon which he might paint a picture of the era.
      â ...prohibition was in full swing, but nobody cared! Everyone toted it all the same, in flagrant disregard of the law - morals took a back seat, and indulgence was the name of the game! And that wasnât all! Why, it was industrial growth as far as the eye could see! Automobiles, telephones, moving pictures, radio!! The golden age of radio! The first and only mass broadcasting medium! New styles of dress and dance ; thatâs right! Dancing! It was the age of JAZZ ! Why, it was like one long, continuous party that no one thought would ever end! â
      ...He lowers his microphone and releases her shoulder with an easy shrug of reminiscence. â ...ah, but nothing lasts forever, Iâm afraid. The stock market crashed in 1929 and brought an end to the era ; from what I understand, that was the start of what would come to be known as the Great Depression! ...Itâs just a shame I died before I got to relish the full extent of that human suffering. The hardship, the misery! Sooooo many orphans. Ahhh, yes ...it was a wonderful time to be alive, indeed! .......but youâve never been topside, have you my dear? After all, you were born here in Hell, werenât you? ~  â
