THE LOST COVE

I was never the summer kind of girl. I wasn’t one of those kids who, at the end of every school year, would look forward to all the family outings and beach trips scheduled all throughout the summer vacation.

Maybe because I nearly died in the sea. Twice. After those two incidents, I became afraid of open water and deep pools and I unlearned how to swim. (I passed years of swimming in PE class, mind you.)

I still go to beaches, sure. I just don’t fancy going past the area where I can still see the sand beneath my feet. To add insult to injury, I grew love handles and thick thighs during my teenage years. Going swimming fully clothed might be a ridiculous idea, but there was certainly nothing pleasant about feeling uncomfortable in a swimsuit either.

Needless to say, I fell out of love with the sea.

But as soon as I saw the beauty of the private villa that my family rented in Calatagan, Batangas last weekend, I just felt it. All I knew was that I wanted to breathe the salt in the air and feel the sand with my bare feet.

We had a huge house, a couple of cabanas, an infinity pool, and a long beach strip all to ourselves. Nevermind that it was low tide during the afternoon of our first day there and that it rained the morning after. The trip was nothing but lovely.

The week started with a beautiful long weekend. I took one of my brothers out on a cupcake date and I also went on a overnight staycation with a few friends.

I also started eating being more conscious of what I eat. That meant learning how to cook healthy dishes and more frequent grocery runs.

I love going to offices with big windows! I never had an office desk with a view.

Laid back days are just perfect for chilling out and sleeping in.
