James burst out laughing. “Chaining yourself to something? Alohomora is one of the most basic spells, so you’re gonna have to charm the living hell out of that for it to be Hermione-proof. The idea is cool though. It would make a statement.” he told his cousin. Their family events where mostly just the adults catching up, but James liked to cause a little chaos every now and then, just to keep things interesting. Of course that was more fun when another cousin or sibling was an accomplice. “I admire your ambition, maybe one day you’ll actually be better than aunt Hermione.”

“Oh, I am sure I could figure something out.” Dominique liked the idea of the challenge anyhow. When it came to their aunt, she considered it a huge win if she could get away with something for more than five minutes. “I like to think I inherited my mum’s brains.” She joked with a laugh but it was true. “Right now I’d take about anything to make things a little more lively, yeah?”

“Hey, is there homework for tomorrow?”

Dominique looked at her cousin a moment, gauging if her question was serious or some form of sarcasm. “We’re at school, there is always homework.” For one class or another it felt like. “Which class do you specifically speak of?”

Kat sighs softly, wandering through the stacks of library books, bored. She huffs unable to find anything interesting, and heads back to her room. Seeing Dominique there, she smiles. “Domi! Wanna go shopping?” She smirks softly, a friendly, happy glint in her eye.

Homework or shopping? That really was a no-brainer. “Every moment of every day,” she told the girl with a grin as she jumped off the bed in one lithe motion. Surely her overflowing closet could fit some more things in it. “Just don’t let me forget to get some new quills while we’re out. Much as I’d rather buy cute shoes or something with that money.”

“I think they’d first have to get over the shock of our hair colours changing, only then they’d be able to start discussing leaving us behind or taking us with them.” James argued. There were only a few family members that would probably appreciate the prank, some of his uncles, like Ron or George. Maybe his dad, he could picture him trying to hide a grin. “I think they’d ultimately take us with them, as a punishment. Also Aunt Hermione could probably change our hair back to our normal colours in a heartbeat.” he finally said.

“I mean I’m not above chaining myself to something,” She joked with a laugh. Some of the events were fun, but most were just tedious listening to all the pointless adult chatter. “Hey, with enough time I could fool Aunt Hermione. Maybe for like five minutes, but I could.” At least Dominique liked to think she could.

Sadie furrowed her brow, looking at the other girl with confusion. “Room of Requirement? What’s that? I don’t think we had anything like that at Ilvermorny. Sounds cool, though.”

“Only the best thing ever.” She told the other girl. “It’s this room that pretty much turns into whatever you want it to. If you need to practice spells, it can be a giant room. If you need for some unknown reason cleaning supplies, it’s a closet. You get the idea I’m sure.” It was the one place she had insisted on her father telling her where it was. “You guys had to have some cool places there, right?”

Sadie grinned and stuffed her books into her satchel, springing to her feet. “Where to first?” She asked the other girl.

“Hmm,” she had to think about that a moment. “Somewhere outside. It’s way too stuffy in here to keep wandering around this place.” Even if the idea of secret corridors and rooms sounded like something out of some book. “Hey, do you think this place has a Room of Requirement like Hogwarts?”

“Anyone who doesn’t notice you is a blind idiot that I’m going to hit upside the head with a broom.” Vi offered nigh-immediately as Dom spoke of her own inability to be seen by the opposite sex; to be honest she wasn’t sure how anyone could not want to date her sister. She was beautiful, intelligent, funny… the more she thought about it the more she wanted to punch boys just for being stupid and not asking her out. 

… then again both she and Louis would punch any boy who did ask her out too. Or if they  hurt her. Or really if they look at her wrong. Perhaps they were the reason boys hadn’t been storming down Dom’s door.

“You’re right though, we’re awesome all on our own. Our luck Louis’ll find someone before we do it and make sure we know it. If he does, though, I say we make sure we vet her really hard and embarrass him at any turn.” The smile that shone then was blinding almost; she and Dom planning vague torture for their brother gave her reason to live, even if they both loved Louis to the ends of the Earth.

Dominique had to laugh at the picture that flooded her mind of their brother rubbing it in their faces he had a date. “That’s alright, there is two of us and one of him. We can scare anyone away.” She pointed out with a laugh. “I almost feel bad for any girlfriend he might have or really, some of our friends.” It couldn’t be hard constantly being around girls that were part-Veela in nature. Being around so many part-Veelas in their house, outside their father, was probably a bit overwhelming if you weren’t used to it.

“Ugh, I’m almost too full to move now...” She remarked as she pushed her plate away feeling like taking a nap right there. “Don’t suppose they’d let us camp out until breakfast time.”

“She already tries her hardest at that. She’s actually quite good at it too.” James admitted. He loved that about her though, he loved his sister and if there was someone gonna boss him around, he’d prefer it to be her.

“Yes!” James enthusiasm about Dominiques potential pink hair suddenly grew. “It’d be perfect. You should put red in my hair too. So we’d be kind of matching. Hell I’ll go pink if it’ll piss the adults off.” he laughed. He always hated those formal events they got dragged along to by their parents. If he could rebel in any sort of way, he’d do it. And if it was just some kind of glamour that would be easily removed.. why not?

“Good because someone needs to keep you walking the line,” Dominique teased her cousin. If anyone was capable of such a feat, she knew it would be Lily. Then again, she knew how much James and Albus loved their sister so it wasn’t a great feat of magic. 

She had to chuckle. “I certainly will. I mean I am sure before break I can even figure something out to do some crazy transfiguration thing.” Certainly she could stump the adults for a little while, long as their aunt Hermione wasn’t around. It was a challenge she could accept. “I am not sure what would scare them most though, making us go or leaving us home to our own devices.” Things did get a little crazy when there were too many Potter-Weasley cousins around.

“True, true.” he hummed in agreement. Especially when your parents were all at the centre of the western wizarding world, that only seemed to complicate things more. “Lily would so like that.” James laughed, thinking about his younger sibling as the oldest instead. The three Potter siblings would probably all be different from the way they were right now if the order in which they were born would be different. 

“Your mom would die.” he could just imagine the face his aunt would make if Dominique would come home with pink hair. Or he could imagine the howler she’d send if she found our before they all went home again. “Doesn’t seem like a smart plan if you think about it like that. I mean, unless you want to give her a good scare. It would be funny.” As always his more rebellious side won from his responsible one.

“I think she’d find it rather amusing to be able to boss the two of you around.” Not that Lily didn’t already carry enough sway over her older brothers. Dominique figured all youngest children dreamed of the chance to be the oldest at least for a day.

Her mum would did, James wasn’t wrong there. As awesome as her mum was, dying hair unnatural colors was sure to get a rise out of her. Truth be told, it would probably be the biggest motivation to do it. “Ah, but magic is a great thing. Just a little bit on the ends or something probably wouldn’t be too bad. She’d only ground me for a month or something.” She acknowledged with a laugh. “I’ll make sure I do it right before some stupid event our parents drag us to that we never want to go to but can’t tell them no to.” Seemed like a fair strategy to her.

Sadie leaned in slightly. “Well, we could always try to find something fun to do,” she suggested with a raised eyebrow. “Care to go exploring?”

“Only every minute of every day!” Dominique told her as she snapped her book shut and shoved it into her bag. Surely homework could wait a little while longer when there was exploring to do.

Sadie rolled her eyes in frustration. “I’m just stopping in to return some books. Believe me, I’ll be out of here as soon as possible.”

“And yet, you’re still here.” Dominique told her raising an eyebrow as she glanced at the girl from over her Transfiguration book. “Though I wish you luck on finding that fun. It’s always eluding me these days.”

Sadie sank into a library armchair with a huff, setting her pile of books aside to give her arms a much-needed rest. “I swear, if I don’t have some fun soon I’ll die of boredom,” she complained. “I knew Silvestris would be intense, but this workload is ridiculous.”

Dominique looked at her a moment. “Well, I reckon you’re not going to find it in the library. Quite dull in here unless you count someone telling kids to shush every ten seconds.” Certainly wasn’t her idea of a good time but otherwise she’d never get her homework done with so many distractions. “Annoying the librarian doesn’t count as entertain, surely you agree?”

“Yeah, that’s the part that terrifies most people about what they’re building here. What if we’re being indoctrinated towards a new cause and we’ll end up being used in a war without even realising it? I know it’s not a widespread fear, but it is something I’ve heard.” Or seen, perhaps; sometimes Vi can’t keep track of which things were real and which were visions she’d had in a moment of glossy-eyed distraction.

The mention of branching out and finding her own crew made Vi smile; she really did want the best for Dom, even if it meant that she might get left behind at some point. In the grand scheme of things, family was the most important thing to Victoire, and in truth her siblings ranked above pretty much everyone. Her parents had each other, and the rest of their family had their own siblings or attachments, and for Vi it was Dom and Louis, and they would always rule her heart and actions.

Her attention drifts over to Dom with a small smile hidden behind her glass of juice, snorting, “I promise I won’t tell Louis if I catch you kissing behind one of the trees, non?” She was teasing, but it was her right as the older sibling, leaning a bit to bump her shoulder lightly against her sister’s, “I’d be lucky to ever find romance at this point, but I’m okay with it.”

Are you, Vi? Are you really?

Dominique had to laugh. “Well, don’t worry, most guys don’t even know I exist.” she admitted with a shrug. It only bothered her some days when all her cousins were getting dolled up for the weekend and she wasn’t. On the other hand, she kind of liked the freedom of only answering to herself when it came to her whims. “You’ll find it when you’re meant to or some stupid thing like that.” Dominique assured her sister. Vic was too good not to find someone that deserved her. “But really, you will. You’re too special and awesome not to. But for now, we can be awesome all on our own, n’est-ce pas?”

“Of course not.” James agreed. One of the many things he liked about Dominique was that she was about the only family member who could match him in his dramatic sense of humor. “They’re not that bad. They just… care. I know it might seem like we have this whole thing with our parents, especially me and Albus. But..” he shrugged, not finishing his sentence entirely. He had been pretty bad when he was younger, the typical my-parents-don’t-get-it teenager. And he could still be that sometimes, but now he was also starting to see that maybe they just wanted what was best for him, even if James didn’t agree on what that actually meant. 

“Hey! It’s tough being the oldest too! I always get the blame, I always have to be the responsible one. Clearly it was not a role cut out for me. Lily should’ve been born first.” he protested. “Or Albus maybe, but he’s so grumpy all the time.” He laughed at her considering pink hair. “I’m not saying it would look bad, because it probably wouldn’t. But it is pretty bold. Definitely bright though.”

She shrugged figuring a lot of people had things with their parents in some way or another. “Eh, we’re teenagers. We should have things with our parents.” That’s what she liked to tell herself anyhow. If she was being honest, she figured her cousins would figure it out at some point or another and their parents would come around. Life just worked that like, or at least it did in her mind.

Dominique had to laugh trying to imagine Lily as the oldest. “You know, I’m sure she might like that in some ways.” Being the oldest probably had its perks too. “It would surely match my scintillating personality!” She proclaimed with yet another tinkling laugh. “Might give mum a heart attack too.”

Dom was definitely blessed with their mother’s looks, and before she’d awakened as a Seer, Vi had definitely had the attitude down. She was very much her mother’s child, but loved her father dearly and wished she could find some kind of common ground with him more than just the thread of DNA. She did have a sort of daredevil streak that could be attributed to him, but their mother was no slouch.

“Some people are going to assume they’re building an army of the best and brightest to combat something that we don’t even know about. How weird would that be?” A shrug lifted her shoulders delicately and Vi turned to look at her sister with a smile, nigh-on beaming at her, “I’m glad to be here with you guys too. I feel like the whole legacy thing at Beauxbatons was wearing thin, and you two seemed to have so much fun at Hogwarts.”

“Well...” Dominique thought about it for a moment. “Suppose it wouldn’t be surprising.” Not when you considered all the students that had fought in the Battle of Hogwarts back during the war. Was that what this was? Dominique wasn’t sure but she didn’t think it was impossible either.

Hogwarts was a lot of fun, Dominique couldn’t deny that. Especially considering she had Louis and a whole plethora of cousins there. “Yeah, but it had to be nice being the only one there.” Dominique loved her siblings and cousins but it was hard sometimes as one of the youngest of so many. “There isn’t anything I can do or even not do, that hasn’t been done before at Hogwarts by a Weasley.” Not that Dominique wanted to save the world, but it would be nice to be known for something other than her family; a feeling she knew most of the family felt at some point or anything. “But it’s okay, because I like having my own posse at school.” She told her sister with a smile. “But if I ever get a boyfriend, lets not tell Louis, deal?”

Helios raised an eyebrow and ran a few steps back from her, grinning. He loved a good scrimmage and he loved a challenge. “It’s excellent, thank you,” he snarked, before he lobbed the quaffle back at her expertly, watching as it arced perfectly in her direction. 

As they tossed the quaffle back and forth he nodded along to her words. “A joke shop, huh? That does sound like a lot of fun. Do you guys prank your parents a lot then? I can only imagine the havoc. It sounds delightful.”

Dominique easily snatched the quaffle from the air. “Oh, it’s a lot of fun. We mostly prank each other.” They knew better than to pull one on their parents. Once in a while her dad would find it funny but it wasn’t a sure thing sometimes. “I mean our parents are pretty scary. Don’t be fooled by what the books say, they can all be intense and scary.” There was a reason her grandmum was able to take down Bellatrix Lestrange, Uncle Harry Voldermort, and the rest of the dark wizards. “If you ever want a crazy quidditch game, I’ll have to invite you over. It’s total madness and total riot.”

“Thank you, thank you.” he came to a halt in front of Dominique, bowing as if he’d just finished some kind of performance. “That’s the spirit Domi, who the fuck needs potions, right?” he replied, laughing heartily. He liked that she believed in him even if she was joking, he wasn’t sure if he could quite agree with her statement.

“You know, the usual.” he shrugged, smirk appearing on his face. There barely was a ‘usual’ when it came to James. He got bored easily, and because of that was always coming up with new ways to get in trouble, though it wasn’t intentional. “Quidditch indeed. Trying not to fail my classes. Annoying Albus even when I don’t mean to. That boy needs to loosen up a bit.” he joked. “What about you?”

She shrugged. “Some people do, but not Gods like ourselves.” She joked carrying it out a little further. Potions wasn’t something she really hated, but there wasn’t any need to point it out. Dominique liked being the quiet overachiever that she was when it came to academics. “But really, are your parents being nutters over grades again?” Her parents were bad but they really didn’t carry the clout Harry and Ginny did in the wizarding world.

“Try not to annoy him too much.” Dominique pointed out. “It’s tough sometimes being the youngest,” she told him with a wink but sometimes she too got intimidated by her older siblings. “Oh, much the same. Working on my skills on the pitch, trying to brighten up this place a little bit, it’s a bit gloomy... Considered dying my hair pink or something, but it’d be too much don’t you think?” She was only half joking on that front.
