Meet Paloma Rodriguez, a designer who’s been with us for a little over a year. We're certain, if you get to know each of our people, you'll get to know OMNIPLAN. So, we asked Paloma afew questions: What’s your hometown? Cd. Juarez, Chihuahua (Mexico) What project are you currently working on? CoolSprings Galleria Mall and La Plaza Mall Expansion What's something not many people know about you? I lived in Germany for a year as an exchange student, so I like to think I am somewhat decent at speaking German. What's your Alma Mater? University of Texas at Arlington Who's your favorite architect? Zaha Hadid If you weren't doing architecture what would you do? I don’t think I see myself doing anything else, but if I had to choose, I’d be a travel critic writer. I really enjoy experiencing different cultures around the world and of course its architecture. So the idea of getting paid for traveling sounds amazing! Do you have a hobby? If so, what is it? Soccer, every Tuesday at Grand Samuel Park What's your favorite Dallas restaurant? Dive Coastal Cuisine What's your favorite thing about Dallas? There is always something to do or visit: museums, concerts, festivals, shopping, sporting events, and much more. Most of these events and locations also happen to be free of charge ;p Where is your dream vacation? Chile; hiking and camping my way through the scenic routes from Punta Arenas to San Pedro de Atacama. Who is your alter-ego? (Pop-culture figure, TV personality, super hero, etc…) James Bond What do you listen to on the way to work? I usually walk to work, so I love listening to the busy streets of Downtown Dallas. Past or present, who would you like to have dinner with and why? My grandmother. She was a brilliant and insightful woman who would always have a book in her hands. She never really travelled much, but I do remember her always saying, “These books take me to wonderful places” she always knew a little bit about everything. Meet Omar Ali, a designer who’s been with us for just a few months! We're certain, if you get to know each of our people, you'll get to know OMNIPLAN. So, we asked Omar a few questions: What’s your hometown? Dallas, TX What project are you currently working on? I’m currently working on the Energy Square redevelopment and the Provo Towne Centre revitalization. I typically seem to move around a lot though. What's your Alma Mater? I received my graduate degree from the University of Michigan (@taubmancollege) and undergraduate at UT-Arlington. Who's your favorite architect? I don’t have an all-time favorite architect, but currently really into the work of Francisco and Manuel Aires Mateus based out of Portugal. If you weren't doing architecture what would you do? I would probably pursue computer science or something else related to programming. Do you have a hobby? If so, what is it? I’m a collector of hobbies… I enjoy riding and working on my bicycle, playing music, drawing, and making things. What's your favorite Dallas restaurant? I have many… but my favorite upscale restaurant would be CBD Provisions. *Bonus: best place for Indian/Pakistani cuisine- Al-Markaz in Carrollton. What's your favorite thing about Dallas? I enjoy being close to my (huge) family and friends after spending a few years away. Where is your dream vacation? I would probably visit Croatia to tour all the Game of Thrones shooting locations, or New Zealand to see the Lord of the Rings scenery. Who is your alter-ego? (Pop-culture figure, TV personality, super hero, etc…) Ettore Sottsass. What do you listen to on the way to work? NPR or KXT. Past or present, who would you like to have dinner with and why? A double date with Lee Krasner and Jackson Pollock; my date would be my girlfriend, Nimet. What's your favorite OMNIPLAN memory or tradition? So far, I really like Omnilunch (especially when we go to KWP), but I’ve heard that Halloween is really great here as well! I’m very much looking forward to experiencing more OMNIPLAN events and traditions. #OurOMNIPLAN

Meet Amber Jones, an administrative assistant who’s been with us for almost two years. We're certain, if you get to know each of our people, you'll get to know OMNIPLAN. So, we asked Amber a few questions: What’s your hometown? I’m proud to be an Okie from Muskogee. What's something not many people know about you? I love horror movies! Apparently, people don’t peg me for that genre. What's your Alma Mater? The University of Oklahoma. Boomer Sooner! Who's your favorite architect? Antoni Gaudí. I have an obsession with the Sagrada Família. If you weren't doing architecture what would you do? If I wasn’t working at an architecture firm, I would probably have my own cooking show on Food Network. Do you have a hobby? If so, what is it? Cooking! It’s my creative outlet. What's your favorite Dallas restaurant? Cane Rosso, Pecan Lodge, or Thai Opal! I like variety! What's your favorite thing about Dallas? My favorite thing about Dallas is that there is always something to do. Between all of the events, great shopping, and amazing restaurants….you should never be bored! Where is your dream vacation? Italy! The culture, the food, the sites….yes please! Who is your alter-ego? (Pop-culture figure, TV personality, super hero, etc…) Pioneer Woman. I secretly want to live on a ranch with lots of animals and have my own cooking show! What do you listen to on the way to work? Nothing! I don’t like a lot of noise in the morning. Past or present, who would you like to have dinner with and why? My dad and grandpa. They passed away when I was little and I would love to fill them in about what’s been going on in my life. What's your favorite OMNIPLAN memory or tradition? That is very hard because OMNIPLAN has so many great traditions! If I had to pick one, it would probably be Fair Day. #OurOMNIPLAN

Meet Jared Brown, an Associate Designer that’s been with us for more than 2 years. We're certain, if you get to know each of our people, you'll get to know OMNIPLAN. So, we asked Jared a few questions: What project are you currently working on? Currently, I am working on 3 top secret multi-family projects! What's something not many people know about you? I am guessing most people know this about me by now...but I am a proud father of a 4 month old baby girl! What's your Alma Mater? I received my graduate degree from Rhode Island School of Design, and my undergraduate degree Is from UTA. Who's your favorite architect? My favorite architect changes with my mood, but right now I am feeling a mix of Tom Kundig, Peter Zumthor, and always a favorite Wes Jones. And if you weren't doing architecture what would you do? If I wasn't doing architecture, I would be making furniture somewhere secluded. Do you have a hobby? I enjoy making...I always seem to have a project (much to my wife's dismay). I love woodworking and glass blowing most of all. What's your favorite Dallas restaurant? Deep Sushi for sure! Where is your dream vacation? I think next on my list would be Japan... Or maybe Moscow. Who is your alter-ego? Cole Trickle... What do you listen to on the way to work? KERA... And the podcast 'Doug Loves Movies' Past or present, who would you like to have dinner with and why? Nikola Tesla! That guy is a genius... And I would love to hear his thoughts on Edison... What's your favorite Omniplan memory or tradition? My favorite OMNIPLAN tradition is fair day... The whole firm goes for a day to the Texas State Fair. It seems to really bring people together! #OurOMNIPLAN

Meet Adam Thomason, a designer who has been with Omniplan for nearly three years. Recently promoted to Associate, Adam is working on several projects around the office. We're certain, if you get to know each of our people, you'll get to know #OMNIPLAN. So, we asked Adam a few questions: What’s your hometown? San Antonio, TX (although I’m a military brat and didn’t move there until the summer before high school. My parents are still there so I consider it home). What project are you currently working on? I just wrapped up working on a renovation project for Southwest Plaza Mall in Littleton Colorado for the last two years. What's something not many people know about you? I like to think I’m a pretty open person, but not too many people know I have a Smurf collection! It’s more from my younger days but now that’s its recently been brought out of the attic I think it’s time to grow the collection. What's your Alma Mater? Fightin’ Texas A&M, whoop! Who's your favorite architect? Local architect, obviously my wife Jenny Thomason! Famous architect… I’ve always been drawn to the works of Richard Meier and Ricardo Legorreta. I appreciate their use of simple geometric forms and light to create spectacular spaces. Their use of color, or lack thereof, are drastically different but I enjoy them both. Do you have a hobby? If so, what is it? I’m a sports guy, I enjoy watching sports! Football, basketball, baseball, hockey, soccer, college or pro, preferably on a patio with my dogs. It’s how I spend much of my free time. I also enjoy to dabble into a wood working project around the house here or there and a 5k or half marathon from time to time. What's your favorite Dallas restaurant? The best Italian restaurant within walking distance of my home. When I lived downtown it was Porta Di Roma, now that I live in Lakewood Heights in East Dallas it’s Scalini’s.
