soulmates and soulmate aus have actually always stressed me out a lot but its been hard to really articulate it until recently. what do you mean that person is bound to me forever in every single scenario and every timeline and every universe? they're being cosmically forced into proximity with me and cant refuse me? theyre being magically compelled to like me? why would i want that??? i'd really prefer to be chosen because they genuinely like me and want to spend time with me and not because the universe deemed it so. but in a soulmate scenario it's like you can't trust that anyone actually likes you because you could just be their cosmically ordained work buddy or favorite barista. logically this is a ridiculous thing to tie your brain in knots about but it really did keep me up as a kid
