When the Germans invade France in the middle of an RAF pantomime, Private Fred Wimbush is left with three simple orders: Get back to England. Don’t get shot. Don’t let them find out you’re not a woman or you’ll be shot. Simple. After rescuing and teaming up with a fellow British officer and a group of Girl Guides caught in the crossfire, ‘Fredrika’ shows the Germans she’s more than a pretty face with a knack for mechanics and machine guns and flees the country with a German General’s blimp and an SS Officer’s car and leaves behind a smoking unusable airfield and many a broken heart. Just when Wimbush thinks he’s home and dry in England, the Powers That Be declare him an irreplacable service to the nation and send him back behind enemy lines for round two and to teach the Germans a well known British song about Hitler and tennis.
