Seth Jarvis was seen in โhis favourite european cityโ Pori with Jesperi Kotkaniemi. The two were attending a womenโs Finnish baseball match. Article incl. photo with Jarvis and his sling after shoulder surgery (partly behind paywall) in Finnish.
Jarvis is visiting Finland from Sunday to Thursday before heading to Denmark and Freddieโs wedding.
About his shoulder injury: Jarvis had to have shoulder surgery after the championship celebrations. He won't even have time to recover from that by the start of the upcoming NHL season. โHopefully I'll be fit to play when we come to Finland in mid-November to play against the Seattle Kraken. I've known about the injury for about three years, but it hasn't really affected my playing. Now was a good time to get it fixed, though.
"If there's a lockout in the NHL, I'll come play for the Pori Aces," Jarvis says, knowing the team's name and pronouncing it very well in Finnish.
The summer is an exceptionally exciting and in many ways uncertain time for KK. It is very possible that he will be traded to another NHL club before the start of next season. However, at this stage everything is still quite calm, and there are no direct transfer rumors anywhere. โThe rest of the summer may then be more urgent and quite interesting in that direction.โ
โI should be able to play and I want playing time above all else. You always know that a transfer could happen at any time. It's a business and there's a certain uncertainty about where I'll play next season. The NHL is a tough world in that way," Kotkaniemi reflects.
Purely from a playing career perspective, a transfer would be very important for Kotkaniemi. On the other hand, a transfer always involves many things outside the rink. For example, he and Jarvis moved to the Hurricanes at the same time five seasons ago.
โHeโs a good friend of mine. Ultimately, we have pretty similar, easygoing personalities and we get along great when we play golf, for example. He never really has bad days.โ
โThe hardest part about a potential transfer would definitely be that Iโve lived in Raleigh for five years now. That has given me time to build a lot of life and friendships.โ
Even though the two might play on different teams against each other next season, Kotkaniemi is very pleased that Jarvis promised to play for the Aces during a possible lockout. โItโs really good that itโs now completely black and white,โ Kotkaniemi laughs.
