Funny little beat-up chupacabra dog skull I’m cleaning up right now. Check out those nubby little teeth! Poor dude was found in a ditch by the person I got it from. It’s got a little healed dent in its forehead too.
Any idea what this might be? I assume it’s a fibula? The person I purchased it from said it was likely from either a possum or raccoon but it seems too large for that. Thank you for your help!
You’re on the right track; this is a fibula from a large bird. Turkey is pretty common but I cannot be sure.
Hi! I was wondering if anyone could help me identify these skulls. I got them all as a gift from a friend, and she got them from an antique store a while back. But neither of us know the species for any of them, it would be nice to put names to skulls! Any help is appreciated.
(If different angles are needed just let me know. Some have lower jaws if you need those too)
Could you get side angles with a ruler or even a hand for comparison?
From left to right it looks like you have a doe, a sheep, and then three pigs/hogs of some sort
The first skull is actually from a young cow! The sheep is correct and two out of those three pigs have been put down by a bolt gun which would make them (more than likely) domestic meat pigs. Wild pig skulls are slimmer and have a straight profile when compared to domestic pigs, which usually have dished snouts and broader skulls.

Happy National Pet Day from your favorite birb and her new brother, Stimpy!
When depression-era farmwomen had to start using flour bags and feed sacks to make clothes for their families, manufacturers began making their bags out of brightly-colored and printed fabrics to boost sales and add a little flair to the common sack dress.
Once the trend caught on to the point that manufacturers were confident it would stick, they started making fabrics in an even wider variety of patterns and colors:
They even gave instructions on how to remove the ink, if you didn’t like the pattern:

Kate Clark’s Twist on Taxidermy
Kate Clark, in a studio near Brooklyn Navy Yard, houses a variety of strange taxidermies . The interesting thing about her animals is that they all have human faces which have been sculpted from clay. She then uses the animal’s own facial skin to cover the faces. Kate uses recycled hides that are considered imperfect for trophy mounts.
“In the Western World, humans are so separated that we have no reason to connect with [wild] animals anymore,” Kate says. “We have become so other.” In fact, she says that most people don’t even realize that she often changes the sex of the animals. Going through her sculptures you will see female faces with antlers attached—an appendage usually sported only by male animals. “Something as straightforward as that doesn’t even register, because our understanding of the natural world isn’t very good anymore,” she says. Queensland scientists have described a new gecko species.
SCIENTISTS IN OUTBACK Queensland have discovered a new species of fat-tailed gecko.
The new gecko species, Diplodactylus ameyi, is found in outback Queensland and northern New South Wales. It is tan to medium-dark brown with pale spots; well comouflaged for the arid environments it inhabits. A specialised termite predator, it is up to 85mm in length and has a distinctive, broadly rounded snout and shelters during the day in disused spider burrows…

THE HAUNTED EXORCIST DOLL
In 1888 this doll was given to Cedric Argyle of London. The doll had previously been used in no fewer than 68 exorcisms. Reverend Thomas Blythe and his friend Mr. Argayus Brown used the doll in exorcisms when mischievous spirits haunted the stately homes and staff quarters of the gentry all over England.
During the exorcism the doll had been used to distract the spirit by being offered up as a plaything. Mr. Brown made the assumption that whilst the banishing of the spirit from the house it was haunting, it somehow had entered the doll trapping itself.
Thomas had often commented on the doll looking at him on numerous occasions and blinking or smiling. After a time the doll was finally photographed by a friend. When it was photographed again some 20 minutes later the photographer said he noticed the doll seemed to smile and it spooked him. No one took much notice until the plates were developed and the photographs revealed the face had actually changed!
