hiii. can i request a fic where the reader is yuuta’s sister’s best friend. she knew the okkotsu siblings back when they were still kids and had a crush on yuuta (who’s like 2 - 3 years older), but never confessed because of rika.
she doesn’t see him in a long time ever since yuuta distanced himself from his family.
then, she meets him again when he helps them when she and yuuta’s sister are moving into their college dorm.
that’s the basic idea, but you can go in whichever direction you want!

you've loved yuuta ever since you could remember.
you remembered the day she introduced yuuta to you—a magical day that was.
"meet my onii-chan, yuuta!" a shy boy stood beside your bestfriend. he had spikey hair, chubby cheeks, and the most striking feature was how tall he was compared to any other boys your age.
"hello! um..my name is yuuta! im 9 years old and im her older brother!" he introduced himself. there was a slight blush on his round cheeks. for some reason, it made your heart go ba-dum-ba-dum faster than it should've.
but it didn't stop there; it was how ineffable he was—or is. he always shares his favourite toy with you. he listens to your suggestion whenever you guys wanted to roleplay. he actually had manners, unlike those stupid boys in your kindergarten class who laugh like it's the end of the world and eats their own booger.
your friend noticed this, of course. what a menace she was, suggesting the three of you to play house together; yuuta's the husband. you're the wife, she's the daughter.
it was your first time playing house together with a boy. sure, you've roleplayed as husband and wife with her before, but for some reason it feels different with yuuta. maybe because he's a "stranger", or maybe because of your little internal conflict.
you wanted to yell at her for suggesting such ridiculous roleplay idea, but at the same time, you can't help thanking her for it.
it might've been the best day you've ever had.
that night, you stared at your ceiling, hands on your chest. is this what grown ups called "love"?
everything was fine and dandy for a while. you grew closer to yuuta, even giving him a cute nickname; "yuu-chan". that's right—he's your yuu-chan. nothing will ever change that. no one will ever change that.
she started showing up when yuuta was discharged from the hospital. then, slowly, she slithered her way through your little friend group.
you remembered hating her. you hate her guts. her confidence. how beautiful she is. how hypnotising she is, and how yuuta seems to be so hypnotised with her.
there rika and yuuta were, perched on the sandpit. she was weirdly close to him. "yuuta-kun, that's not how you build a sandcastle!" rika giggled. "you silly. here, let me show you..."
you were on the swing, clenching the handles tighter than you intended to. next to you was your friend, who seems just as solemn as you were.
"i really don't like rika-chan." she sighed.
you nod. "it's not fair. yuu-chan spends all his time with her now." you huffed. "i feel really weird whenever i see them together. it's like...my heart feels like it's about to cry." the word you were searching for was heartbroken, but obviously at your little age, you didn't really know what that was. you thought heartbroken is like when your heart is literally broken.
to make it all worse, rika "proposed" to yuuta just a few weeks later. they made a promise that they'd get married when they're older.
you recalled how much you were ugly crying that night in your room alone. you didn't get out to eat dinner. you didn't watch the tv. you didn't even do your homework that your scary kindergarten teacher told you to do. you were just on your bed, weeping alone.
it's not fair. not fair, not fair, not fair. it was supposed to be you and yuuta, not rika and yuuta. how dare she steal your yuu-chan from you? is this really love? if so, why does love feel so, so painful?
well, worry not. because just about 6 months later, rika died from a car accident. everyone mourned her death—your friend, you, and especially yuuta, who saw her dying right before his eyes.
though, inside the deep, dark and evil part of your heart, you felt a little thankful. maybe you and yuuta can be close again.
how wrong you were, because after that incident, you never saw him again.
you asked your friend of course—constantly. "what happened to yuu-chan?" "is he okay?" "what's yuu-chan doing at home?" and every time you brought him up, she always seems sad and always avoid the topic.
so, slowly, you stopped bringing him up. not because you forgot about him, but because you didn't want her to be sad. if she didn't want to talk about him, then you have no choice but to respect her wishes. although whenever you visit her, you can't help but linger in front of his bedroom door. sometimes you'll just sit there, back against the cold door.
slowly, you and her matured together. you've been through each other's thick and thin, dark and bright, high and lowest. eventually, with one single blink, you two are in college.
"i can't believe we're roommates! i hope the room is big, because i bought like, a lot of stuff. it barely fits in my car, you know! we all had to squeeze in as best as we could." she giggled.
you chuckled at her never ending enthusiasm. you grabbed the key in your pocket, inserting in the tiny hole. "okay, are you ready?" she nod eagerly. with a deep breath, you opened the door. the room wasn't that big, but it's not too small either. just decent.
"eh...it's fine i guess. could be bigger, but it'll do." she shrugged.
for about half an hour, both of you started to unpack your things. she took her sweet time with her things, unlike you who worked swiftly.
you were pretty much almost done—just need some proper arrangements, and you're good to go. meanwhile, she's still struggling whether to arrange her clothes or her books first.
you made your way to your friend. "need any help?" you were already reaching out for her luggage to help her before she even had a chance to answer.
suddenly, there was a knock on the door. the door opened, revealing a man holding countless of boxes. "sorry i'm late! this campus is so big, i got lost." he apologized, setting down the countless heavy boxes on her side of the room.
your eyes widened. was it who you really think it is? it can't be. you haven't seen him in a decade. that can't be him, no. but his face look so similar to...
"ah, there you are, niichan!" you snapped out of your thoughts once you heard you bestfriend's voice. so it is him. she then turned to look at your stunned face. "this is yuu-chan. do you remember him? i hope you do, hehe. or else it'll be weird. i know it's like, really awkward between you guys because you haven't seen each other in like a decade.." she said sheepishly, rubbing the back of her neck.
there was an awkward silence. she broke it. "anyways! i'm gonna go out to get some food. you guys should catch up or something. bye!" she waved her hand, before running off, leaving the two of you alone. she always do this. that little....
"um- ahem." you cough. "i'll, uh...help you."
he nod. "that'd be great, thank you." he answered.
you two worked silently; but you made sure to look at him secretly when he's not looking or is too focused. he's so much taller now. his hair looked so different than you remembered, but it really suits him. and his figure...you could see his muscles flexing when he picks up a really heavy box.
you started to pray in your mind to the higher beings. you sure hope they'll forgive you for drooling over him and imagining what he'd look like without his shirt on...
you were so deep in your thoughts that your back accidentally bumped against his. you panicked, turned around and immediately apologized. "im so sorry! i didn't see where i was going." you frantically apologized.
he just chuckled. "it's fine! no big deal!". oh, how can a man be so handsome by just chuckling?
you didn't want the conversation to just end there, so you mustered up the courage to make a small talk. "um..so..." you placed your strands of hair behind your ear. "...how are you?"
he smiled politely—a smile that could make you melt into a puddle. "i'm doing good, thank you for asking. what about you?"
you gulped. "i'm...i'm doing okay too! like, really okay. super okay." you laughed. you mentally cursed yourself. what a great answer. totally not a stupid one. you hesitated, before continuing, "um..you've changed a lot. i mean i barely even recognise you!" you laughed awkwardly.
he let out a light laugh, sort of mimicking you in a way. "a lot can happen in ten years. you've changed too. you're not so short now, i see."
you gasped loudly, taking full offense. "hey!" you instinctively hit his chest like you always do whenever somebody offended you. "that's so mean. i wasn't that short."
he let out a tiny grunt at your hit. "i wasn't trying to be mean." he pouted. "you were really cute and tiny back then. i remember thinking you were adorable."
you blushed at his words. cute? adorable? he thought you were cute AND adorable? did you hear him right or was it your ears deceiving you and trying to feed your delusions?
"r-really? cute? me?" you stuttered, face red.
he nod, confirming. looks like you were really not dreaming. "of course you were. why would i lie to you?"
gosh, how easy you were, it was embarrassing. you chuckled timidly, rubbing the back of your neck. "i mean, i didn't think you were lying! it's just- um-" you stammered, trying to find the right words. "uh...anyways, let's not waste any more time! these boxes won't move by itself, haha!"
as you took a step back, of course your clumsy self just had to trip on your own foot. a gasped left you. why must this happen when yuuta's around?!?
"be careful!" yuuta yelled, rushing to you, his arm on your back, preventing you from falling to the cold floor. "are you okay? you should really watch where you're going." he scolded gently.
his face was right in front of you. he seems so scared and worried for you. "i..uh..." you tried to talk, you really did, but you just can't because of how close his lips is. it's almost like those cringy, cheesy kdramas you always watch where the male lead catches the female lead from falling and their face were too close, they kissed. you used to cringe at them, but now it's happening to you.
you swear he was leaning closer. you could practically feel his breath. well, if this is how your first kiss with him go, then you don't mind!
your parted your lips just a little. then-
"im baaack! gosh, the line was like, so long. but i bought fried chicken for everyone!" you urgently pushed yuuta away, albeit aggressively.
your bestfriend tilted her head, confused. "is everything okay? you both seem weird."
you nod your head instantly. "yes! yes! we're fine, don't worry!" you smiled at her. inside, you were cursing at her. how dare she? cockblocker. fucking cockblocker. if she just came a minute later, maybe you and yuuta could've actually kissed like in those cringy kdramas.
nothing you can do about it now. all you can do is pray that you and yuuta will kiss the next time you two are alone..
