First of my glass animal mask series! This was so fun to paint, what other animals should I try? So far I'm thinking owl and deer for a woodland theme🦊🦉🦌

When I got into witchcraft, I wish someone I'd spoken to or one of the authors I read would have said just once, "None of the items or incantations in spells are necessary or powerful on their own. These words only work if they resonate within you, and this whole process is a symbolic ritual meant to get your mind to focus on your intention and to feel that it's being done, because YOU are the operant power!"

I'd always wondered why I needed to say something like "So mote it be" to end a spell, which meant nothing to me; or what I was supposed to feel when I read someone else's incantation, which never quite resonated; or follow what I consider to be silly rules about snuffing out candles versus blowing them out. I even read in one of those books written by a well-respected Wiccan author that it was an "insult to the element of fire to blow it out." I laughed out loud and discarded the book. (Btw, stop blowing out candles on your birthdays, you disrespectful jerks! 😹)

I felt like all the complications of spells and rituals that I found were distractions for me rather than aides. I forget which book it was in, but in the beginning it described a woman picking a blade of grass, thinking about her intent, and releasing the blade of grass into the air - and that was her whole spell. I'll always remember that as the moment when it clicked that I am the Power and need nothing outside of myself to create the circumstances I want if I can properly utilize my imagination, will and emotions.

When I discovered manifestation, it only further confirmed what I'd come to realize, and all the remnants of feeling I needed rituals or tools vanished. Now my imagination is my only tool.

Everyone should use whatever method is most effective to manifest/perform magic (they're the same thing in my opinion), and as long as it gets you to a point where you're focused and feel that your will is done, it's a good method.
