Portrait study done in all round brush. I wanted to try some dramatic lighting and I'm pretty pleased with how this piece turned out!
Another portrait study. My first time really attempting drapery and I’m pretty satisfied with the result :)
One of my first plaster cast paintings from the beginning of this year.

Another charcoal & graphite portrait study. So please with how this turned out! The highlights are my favorite part.
Sometimes you just have to know when to let a painting go. Over-worked, stiff, and muddy... it would do me more good to start over but I know I can improve faster starting a new piece. Calling it a day on this one, will start fresh on something else.

Another portrait study I did back in May, originally in charcoal. Only meant to do a few touch ups and ended up re-working it altogether. It’s fun to see how much a painting can change when you see it with fresh eyes!

Portrait study from earlier this year— charcoal w/a bit of digital. Kicked myself into buckling down and studying values and facial anatomy.

Been a while... I’ve mainly been working on studies these days and neglected personal projects. This was a fun one ☺️

I haven’t fully finished a piece in years, so I’m super happy with how this turned out ☺️ I’m pushing myself to practice color and value, instead of just leaving things in their sketch phase
I got bored with only doing value studies and tried playing around with color. Eye from imagination. Sometimes the work I’m really happy with comes from experimenting and not expecting much.
It’s been a while since I’ve posted or really drawn. Been working full time, doing custom orders, and just enjoying the holidays. I still miss drawing though and want to get better in 2020!

I’ve gotten really into digital painting lately and have had a ton of fun with it-- which is saying a lot because I don’t remember the last time I had this much fun drawing in general. Super excited to draw faces when I get to that point and get over my fear of shading and hair. I’m following Istebrak tutorials on YouTube if anyone is wondering. She’s a terrific teacher!
Not comfortable doing digital, but not bad for an attempt?
