The practice of Chod is about cutting through the ego, offering up our conditioning, habits and limitations to be destroyed, and is similar to the worship of Smashan Tara by the Aghoris and other sects. 

Many Shamanic traditions include a dismemberment of the practitioner before he or she can travel further into the non-ordinary realms.

Dionysus was dismembered by the Titans as a child, and his maenads dismembered Orpheus after his return from the underworld. Osiris‘ body was also dismembered by Set, before being reconstructed by Isis.

These types of practices relate to the “Solve” part of the Alchemical maxim “Solve et Coagula” i.e. dissolving your existing conditioning to free up energy and then re-combining into new and more useful structures.

We start out in Satanic Panic territory, with an anonymous "ouija board victim" telling us about a ghost assaulting her after using it.

Anna Foster says it's a "dimensional doorway" and using a ouija board opens you up to being a "receiver station" for spirits - good or ill. Remember her, by the way.

A psychiatrist arrives to tell us about the ideomotor effect, without using the term itself, describing subconscious musculature movements...

Peter Moscow, who we last saw in season one, is dubious, saying many cases of the ouija board are just subconscious movement.

Psychic Shawn Randall, surprisingly, agrees, saying you see what you want to see - if you want to see something upsetting, predictions of doomsday, that's what you'll get from your own subconscious.

Then we take a turn.

On July 9th, 1990, six army intelligence officers deserted their post in Augsburg, Germany. The incident made global news, with the fugitives being treated as potential terrorists, potential Soviet defectors, or potentially abducted by the Soviet Union. ASK PERMISSION

Before cutting the branch of a tree or removing a flower, tell the spirit of the tree or plant what you are going to do, so that they can withdraw their energy from that place and not feel the cut so strong.

When you go to nature and want to take a stone that was in the river, ask the river keeper if he allows you to take one of his sacred stones.

If you have to climb a mountain or make a pilgrimage through the jungle, ask permission from the spirits and guardians of the place.

It is very important that you communicate even if you do not feel, do not listen or do not see.

Enter with respect to each place, since Nature listens to you, sees you and feels you. Every movement you make in the microcosm generates a great impact on the macrocosm.

When you approach an animal, give thanks for the medicine it has for you.
