Why I hate Tianshan (And The Fans)

Liking the current plot, and to be honest even liking Tianshan, literally shows your care for the plot. Not despising what is happening to the plot in current 19 Days shows you have never cared for it before it turned into what it is today. Not feeling emotion for this change, I say with all the honesty in the world, makes you a fake fan of 19 Days. I canât be swayed on this opinion.
Fans who have been fans since the start know all the small details; all the hidden arts and comments. Through these arts and comments, we can see the concept of Jian Yi, and due to the times in which these things were made, itâs clear the plot points portrayed in them (even if tweaked a little) planned to have the story go a certain way. Let me show some logical assumptions. (We can talk about how newgen fans really do ruin a lot of fandom spaces another day):

As you can tell, through these arts, thereâs somewhat of a promise for some major development (mainly) in Jianâs story. A look into whatâs to come. (And OldXian has promised some of the concept stuff, but never delivered or built on it).
Itâs also important to remember 19 a days in its entirety is framed as a flashback from the future Zhanyi, after Jian comes back after being taken away; where his eyes seemed to turn black in a soulless manner, always shown in a sense of vulnerability through undress, a lot of time covered in water. He seems to either eventually hurt either himself or someone else, and from the pilot, he even gets into fights when he goes to high school.
Itâs likely he ended up with his grandfather, considering the âsuccessorâ part of it all, along with the mysterious promise his grandfather made with his mother, and the fact that even in recent years Jian seems to wear dark coats (resembling a gang/mafia member) in the future. Jian while heâs kidnapped seems to be lifeless, and itâs always been the case that heâs lived through other people (his whole deal with âhaving someone to protect would make life more joyfulâ after seeing Zhengxi and ZiXi, then his protectiveness over Mo which even Zhengxi calls out; saying Jian does things for Mo only his mother would do).
So, what does Jian do when he suddenly has nobody [to live by/for]?
Jian has lived his life unknowing that there is a darkness ahead of him. Heâs lonely unless heâs with Zhengxi who was the first to show him true love and care. I donât think itâd be wrong to say heâs a little dependant on that connection. And Zhengxi lets him lean on him, happy to lend that shoulder; but as the case goes, unless you actively step into somebodyâs loneliness and remove it from the core and stop being only a momentary ease of the pain, the person youâre helping will be gone before you can realise the error of that way; and I think that could be a really realistic plot point for Zhengxi.
Zhanyi, as the canon went at first, shows such an interest in a struggle on sexuality, something Zhengxi seems to still struggle with, ironically, within a manhwa that has to be censored in our real life; the reason theyâre scared of their feelings is so real!
The plot is nice and interesting like this, and as much as I, admittedly, hate Zhanyi from the pilot, they had something good going there. Something deep and thoughtful. All the things Iâve said so far are logical estimation from the information given to us by OldXian, it builds tension, it encourages reading onward, only to never receive a hint of the expected final product. It makes you feel like you were baited into thinking there was some bigger thing at the end of all this, but thereâs just nothing but regular BL slop.
And so, I ask, where did all this plot go? But we all know where, donât we.
In an awful world where the BL genre is a bland mess of đ˝ addiction, bad plot, age gaps, and frankly disgusting content, 19 a days seemed like some sort of blessing away from all of that. There was depth to these characters, to their future, to their struggles. Then it all went to shit for Tianshan, who (and Iâll tell you damn right) have f* all to them. Just a copy and paste from every other BL, that wormed its way in to something good because people are so satisfied reading the same story retold with âdifferentâ characters over and over again.
He Tian is a POS who lives for a reaction, hence why he gave up on Jian Yi for being âboringâ (ignoring his weird advances). He touches people without consent, and if theyâre not obedient, he wonât hesitate to physically hurt them (he even punched Mo into throwing up after Mo expressed distaste towards his harassment, and forced his tongue down Moâs throat to make him cry). Heâll make sure you owe him for anything good he does for you. Heâs one of those r*pet types that BL fans are notoriously known to love, and I really donât know how I didnât sooner realise this, and realise the infection.
Tianshan is a tale of Mo falling for a parallel to his abuser; She Li.
Both of them, He Tian and Mo, enabling their natures of being an abuser of power and being a victim to abuse of power. There is no chemistry between them, just a bong that was forced from He Tianâs want for somebody to annoy and harass, and Mo having no choice to leave without getting some pitiful face from He Tian (who always does something wrong first) until heâs given into again. And even Jian says it, He Tian doesnât change. And he doesnât.
19 Days would be SO GOOD if Mo was just friends with Zhanyi and He Tian was some ominous character in the background. Mind you, Jianâs care for Mo is actually genuine, he only calls upon He Tian to help to have a stronger hand against She Li. Tianshanâs romance is not necessary.
This isnât some bitterness, this is how Tianshan is whether they get in the way of Zhanyi or not. Theyâre a typical MLM gooner ship. Fan demands increased, more interest was put on them because theyâre so easy, and slowly, Zhanyi became the side piece, despite always being so much more than anything I have ever read while reading BL. I csnt stress enough, the bs the plot has become.
Itâs no longer a tale of Zhanyiâs growth, or a tale of friendship.
In the art book, thereâs a quote about how nice and feeeing friendship is; you endlessly want more of it, and there used to be a sense of that in every chapter, but what we have now is chapter after chapter of He Tianâs possessiveness drawing Mo away from his other friends, because Mo is âhisâ, akin to how She Li saw Mo as his dog.
Zhanyi are left to the side, dragged around helplessly following them, to the point even Jian is canonically tired of it, even to the future timeline, because even four/five years later, HE TIAN, DOESNT CHANGE! He will never change, everyone will always cater to how he is and work around him to suit his lifestyle, enabling him so he never even has to change. And if thatâs ever challenged then ooh⌠The poor little rich boy has to be comforted. No Mo and Jian, you canât be reasonably sad that heâs a little baby because youâll make him cry. Boo-f*cking-hoo.
I wonât sit here and deny his entire character, but he is just unforgivable. There is nothing interesting about a character who will never have growth. Iâm not even saying he hasnât cared for others before, that heâs never had a genuine moment, Iâm saying he makes sure the people heâs cared about suffer 10x harder than he ever helped them after.
And while weâre on the topic, letâs talk about the current future timeline. Why are we there? For Tianshan. Purely. And I wish I was joking, but no, after almost a DECADE of building up the tension between Zhengxi and Jian, we get to the future with them (where the entire plot originates from), we are here for stupid copy paste oneshots pf Tianshan and their ânoooo i dont like you teeheeâ BULL.
All those pictures I showed at the top, replace Jian to be how he is now. No qualms, seemingly no plot line to talk about since, while Tianshan gets âdrivenâ chapters, Zhanyiâs are left with joking chapters that go nowhere. Played for jokes.
Despite being gone for four years of being kidnapped, tied up, hurt, taken from everyone he loves, and coming back to see his disappearance didnât stop the world from spinning and everyone moved on without him (because how couldnât they), there isnât a trace of any of it. And I donât think pretty much any of his concept will make it to the final cut, and to cater to who?
If you think for a second, based on one of the future chaps, since Jian had only just seen ZiXi then, heâs clearly not been back for so long, so why is he completely fine.
Jian has become a cupid gag character. He plays cupid for Tianshan and has for years now, and all he gets in return is being interrupted whenever he and Zhengxi have a heartfelt moment, because how dare they do something unrelated to He Tian. Whenever they get cut off from a moment they have no choice but to not talk about it because the next chapter is another copy paste Tianshan chapter WHERE THEY DO THE LITERAL. EXACTLY. SAME. THING. LOOK AT IT.
Tianshan fans and OldXiaj took Jian and Zhengxi out back and boiled them all the way down.
We might not even explore it at this rate, but even if we do it could take YEARS to see Jianâs struggle with causing harm to someone while he has been so fixated on being a good person, because he needs a reason to live (reference to him asking He Tian, if thereâs nothing he wants to do, what is there to live for?).
And we can kiss goodbye the promise of their band, itâs Jianâs solo dream now. I want to think the angst of this could be explored, but itâs been 8 years since OldXian promised romantic development between Zhanyi, and Tianshan fans wonder why actual fans are bitter.
We all know Zhanyi eventually got together, and thatâs all good and well, but because some people arenât simpletons and enjoy depth, they want to know HOW they got together. Every icky twist and turn. Because what do you mean that Zhengxi in the future is the one that drives Zhanyiâs physical contact? Being how he is right now it seems crazy. OldXian just says they get together later and leaves you to figure out the rest on your own after leasing you all the way on, when itâs her job to tell a f*cking story.
I truly donât care how many silly goofy chapters we get, that have no plot, that are just âcuteâ, there is nothing worth anything to be found in these chapters anymore unless you are just as worthless. Through other posts Iâve made discussing these issues Iâve had, Iâve been called jealous and bitter, and I ask you wtf would you feel if you found ONE good thing and watched it slowly fall apart for a decade, to cater for people who donât even truly care for it.
Iâm a human being with emotions regarding what I read, the arcs Iâm reading, and the characters emotions I am trying to understand. Iâm not a bot who only cares about seeing two âhot guysâ (MINORS BEE TEE DUBS) snog each others faces off.
Jian is the most complex character in the series, and he will always be the face of 19 Days. HE is the one that brings everyone together, HE is the one that is a mix of all the characters into one character, HE is the core of the friendship they have, he is the reason 19 Days exists. He invites everyone out. He is the cheer in the group. Heâs the one who gave them all a dream. Heâs the one who stands up for them all for no gain, heâs the one who lets himself get hurt so they can be okay. Heâs the genuine nice guy that struggles, and everyone gives him shit, not acknowledging him OR Zhengxi. And by the by, Zhengxi ignorance in this fandom is insane when he is the most mysterious,
So why do I hate Tianshan fans? They donât know what theyâre talking about because again, theyâre here to watch two boys kiss and thatâs it. Not caring about Jian and Zhengxi being sidelined is evidence you donât care about the plot, and you only care for your ship. Zhanyi is not just about the ship, itâs about the heartache and yearning, and the wholesome friendship, because they would never leave Tianshan FOR SOME DUMB SHIT LIKE TIANSHAN WOULD DO TO THEM. No Tianshan fans are good fans, there is not one exception, I donât want even one Tianshan fan to see this and think theyâre one of the good ones, there are no good ones.
And actually, I am going to bring this to light since Iâm here so everyone can understand this anger is from several deep rooted things.
As an AroAce-spec person, society repeating the same old take of romance is tiring to see. Not that this is inherently an Aro-Ace thing, finally seeing a ship that doesnât seem to work like every other relationship is pleasing on a rep level too. Like so many people agree Zhengxi might be part of the spectrum, but again, relationships that arenât like all the others, crazy sx obsessed, are pushed to the side to make way for the same old stories time and time again.

As much as i hope Iâm wrong, as much as I want to be proven wrong, as much as Iâm betting on OldXian rushing the Tianshan out so she can finally get back to Zhanyi, itâs just delusion at this point point. I am even saying all of this under the assumption that she will somehow prove me wrong in everything Iâm saying about abandoning her day 1âs for money like a money hungry lunatic. No matter what I feel right now though, and no matter what changes, the truth is simply that, she would let Zhanyi slide for Tianshan because they take in the BL zombies.
She couldâve done so much more with Jianâs injuries from She Li with Zhengxi, and the angst of his mother after, but she let it go again, to âbuildâ Tianshan.

OldXian watched and ignored countless ZhanYiâs who made her career BEG for content, BEG for development, and she laughed in their faces until they gave up hope. Just look at zhanxixis blog. Thatâs all Zhanyi fans are fated to do. Give up.
