Oh Yes, Lobst Works

So you’re thinking of sending something to me? Wonderful; thanks for your thoughtfulness! Insurance MIGHT be covering my SRS in 2017 (fingers crossed), so I figured this guide needed an update. If you’re in a giving mood and would like to send me stuff for the Winter holidays, here is a list of preferred methods.

Please don’t feel obligated to buy things for me, especially if you’re strapped for cash! I am relatively comfortable and in good health. The consumerist aspects of the holiday season are insidious in how thoroughly they pressure us all into buying unnecessary gifts. Your friendship with me is just as valid regardless of whether you choose to participate in this or not.

Gestures of platonic affection are amazing gifts; don’t let anyone attempt to convince you otherwise.

Another great gift idea: a recent receipt to a charity or organization that helps marginalized people, made in your name, forwarded to [email protected]. I of course refer to groups like the Southern Policy Law Center, the ACLU, and Planned Parenthood – but also organizations like Trans Relief Project, Direct Relief, and GiveDirectly.

“But Tarah, I’d like for you to specifically receive a material item I paid for!” Well, you’re in luck; I have an Amazon wishlist I’d gladly accept gifts from! (Make sure it’s ordered from smile.amazon.com, if possible!)

I have a Steam wishlist, but I only use that to keep track of sales for myself; I’d make it private, like my GOG and Humble lists, if the Steam store let me. If you’d still like to get me something from that for whatever reason, please limit your purchases to $15 or less, because I’m far more likely to play things on consoles than on my PC.
