sitting on the edge of the pool, his legs dangled slowly in the water. there was something calm about the area at night, a stillness that seemed to fall over the water. leaning back onto his palms, anthony gazed skywards for a moment before he heard the sound of footsteps. his attention was grabbed, and he called out a âthe waterâs pretty cold, just so you know.â but it wasnât long before his head was turning to meet the other. âplus side is, i donât think anyone else is around?â
late night swims? not really kaiâs idea of a good time. however, late night walks where he can breathe? oh yeah, heâs all about that. hands shoved deep in the pockets of his jacket, he kicks a rock that skids across the sidewalk, skipping under the gate surrounding the pool and alerting the one on the other side of the pool. itâs when he starts talking that kai realizes itâs probably rude to keep walking without engaging in at least a little small talk. âoh--,â his eyes go to the pool and then back to his clearly not dressed to swim self, âiâll just, uh, take your word for it.â then, because he doesnât want to seem rude continues, âat least thereâs that. you found the secret: go swimming when most people canât tolerate the cold.â
