31. How do you stay motivated?

I answered this one on Twitter, but I'll send my reply here too! I think being around other fanfic enjoyers/writers/artists is a big motivator, but I found that comments/reviews/little cheers keep me going, too. Someone tells me they like something/something made them happy, and that makes me want to do it more often.

7- what fic are you the proudest of?

Oh gosh, I can't pick just one. I think this is such a hard question, but Kitten Era is definitely one I am proud of because what do you mean I have shared roughly 73k words of kitty cats skk? I never knew I could make such a long fic like that, and it's not DONE. It keeps going lol. It's like a hydra growing five more heads each time 💀 But I also am proud and love Temporary Bliss because that fic had been in the works since 2024, and I FINALLY finished it. I felt comfortable with its ending, and even if it didn't receive many hits/kudos, I'm still so very proud of finishing it.

11- do you outline your fics before writing them?

Most of the time, yes! Especially for longer fics like Darling, Some Things Are Meant To Be, Kitten Era, Paradise Lost... All those are considered my long fics. I have a separate tab for the outlines because I want to make sure that I incorporate important scenes/information and don't forget about them.

14- what is something you really like about your fic(s)?

I think in some way, I like that I can't angst without fluff lol. I thank myself for that a lot. If I had to write just MCD, I would also MCD myself with my blorbos because I CAN'T DO THAT.

16- how do you write your fics? (Handwritten, Google Docs, word, etc)

I tried Google Docs, but it wasn't for me. Then I tried CRAFT, and it's nice! That's where I started KE, and the website function is fun! I loved being able to customize my pages and make the KE cards. But then it added extra AI implementation (you can opt out of it), and I figured it's the principle of it all. I couldn't be behind that. So, I switched to Ellipsus and use that instead. Occasionally, I move some things to the CRAFT website that I made on Ellipsus, but otherwise, I don't use CRAFT except to return to old, old, old drafts and pull out their file or update kitty cards.

17- Do you regularly discuss your fics, or do you keep most of the info to yourself before you start posting?

Well... A mix of both, I guess. A lot of the stories I've posted up until this year have been discussed with a few friends, but up until recently, most of the ideas just spawned out of the blue or because of a prompt week. I don't really talk about my ideas all that much anymore. Maybe one or two ideas I'll throw into the pond, and it will stick with people on Twitter. I'll discuss those, but otherwise, I just keep to myself. Like the other day, I saw a video about betta fish building a bubble nest, and I tweeted out "merchuu should build a bubble nest for captain dazai" and so many people loved the idea :) I added it to a list of WIP ideas I have coming up.

20- what made you start writing?

If this is about general writing, I began writing when I was in middle school. I have a creative writing and literature degree because I thought at some point I would want to be a creative writing teacher, inspiring others to read and write. But then, I kinda gave up writing after college for a while. Then I saw people writing fanfiction.

And I have a bit of a .... past... with FF because at the time when I was writing it, it was looked down on. But now, I come back as a full adult, and I write because I want to, and because the little people in my head dance and fluff, and they are happy. These characters, they make me happy. I write now because I'm happy; I write about things that make me happy, and that's how it's been.

21- what is something that no one has caught about one of your fics?

I try to incorporate some au's into my other aus, in some way, shape, or form :)

25- is there a scene you are dreading writing? (Want to share what it is?)

I don't think I have a scene that I dread writing. I actually get very frustrated when I can't immediately write a scene I want into a story because it has to follow the plot/build-up. It drives me BONKERS that I have to sit here and kick my feet about it until I get there 💀, and sometimes I'm my own impediment because I get stuck in edit loops.

27- what is a question that you never get asked about your fics that you really want to answer?

I don't think I ever really thought about it because I don't usually receive questions about my fics 💀

33- what is your favorite line from kitten era?

This one is going to hurt, but...

Verlaine smiles softly at Chuuya. "You're still so small, A2-5-8. You have a lot of catching up to do."

Like, wow, I really had the nerve to do that to myself lol. How dare I?
