This is why I admire Aliya do much because of how mentally healthy she is. In today's society if you criticise an adolescent girls weight they will develop insecurities and it could negatively affect them in the long run. But Aliya is like no I'm fine I know my body and I disregard your opinion.

I feel like she gets a lot of hate and criticism without considering all the factors. She is basically a B team gymnast who has made A teams her entire senior career. To me that is impressive in itself because no matter what potential talent from potential A team gymnasts like Kharenkova, Tutkhalyan, Komova and others, she has always put herself in a position where there is a valid reason to put her on a team even if it is just for bars and with the depth in Russia on that event, it’s impressive. International judges don’t like her style across other events but she is a world champion, European champion and Olympic medallist. You can’t say that about B team level gymnasts from other countries.

I think she does put in effort on other events but she simply isn't very good on them. For example I can't see her ever upgrading her vault ever. Her tumbles this year were a pleasant surprise but she still won't score very well. I think her capabilities are limited and as a gymnast without exception on anything, even considering her bars which aren't particularly special or unique she has had a very successful career and deserves credit where the credit is due.

I think the break in 2015 probably made up for anything she didn’t do after London and Aliya was in about the best form she could have hoped to have been in Rio. I mean… even if she wasn’t it really didn’t hamper her success very much did it lol

Aliya didn't have a break during the 2013-16 cycle. She had ankle surgery after Euros 2014, back surgery after worlds 2014, missed 2015 Euros because of the recovery and had knee injury at the end summer 2015 which prevented her from competing at worlds and had surgery in Winter. She literally had a few months to get herself together for Rio and she wasn't at her best. But Aliya is Aliya and not being at her best is a lot better than most gymnasts at their peak.

All of Asuka's tumbles are quite low incurring a deduction. Even if she stuck her routine cold, the lack of height from tumbles and leaps adds up especially when compared to someone like Larisa who gets a lot of height on both. As someone who has seen Asuka compete in person numerous times, the lack of height is very noticeable and an obvious deduction. The scores are fair.

She actually did have it after Euros only they didn't announce it in the media until much later. Eythora posted a photo on Instagram of her Ellie and Georgia Mae Fenton at a photo shoot in early May and you could see Ellie was in a cast. She deleted it and reposted the picture with the cast cut out afterwards.
