“I dunno, Lucy. That doesn’t SOUND like a very good idea to me.”

“Oh thank you, Your Majesty. Teach you? Of course I can, it’s better than having to deal with all the politics your siblings have to take care of, hm?” The faun mentioned as his nose scrunched and a hand rose, drawing the tip of a finger down the bridge of her nose lightly. “Here, let me show. You just place your fingers over theses holes –” Tumnus instructed as he scooted over on the floor of the warm room, now at her side as he wiped off the mouthpiece with a bit of his muffler.

     better than politics, yes --- queen she may be, but her youth prevents her from being able to actively participate in some noble duties. her cleverness and perception was nothing to underestimate, of course ; it was undeniable the child still held her power and reigned just as well as her elder siblings. yet with an eight year old’s limited knowledge and experience, and only a couple of school years tucked away under her belt, she couldn’t very well play the diplomat as her brother and sisters did yet.

     a hobby would at least give her something to do in the meantime.

       ‘ I’m CERTAIN they would. ( a pause where he crouches down to her level, arm going around her ) HEY, it’s going to be okay. we’ll see them again someday, i’m sure, i just don’t think it’ll be soon. but they wouldn’t want you to be sad, Lu, they would want you to enjoy being here and they’d be so PROUD of you. ‘

     the child remains silent. lips slipping minutely further into a pouted frown.  the amendment of never to someday only provides limited relief to the young queen --- there’s still something terrible and miserable that infects her mood about the uncertainty of it all, and the overwhelming emotional instinct of being parentless, relatively speaking, is enough to bring a tremble to her lower lip. 

        ‘ I think if we asked nicely we could get some fauns to make you a teddybear…. but, no lu, we’re not going back anytime soon. actually, I don’t think we’ll be going back at all  ;  we’re to stay, I think, fulfill the prophecy and rule Narnia. ’

  ❛ SUSAN TOLD ME YOU WERE BUSY. said i shouldn’t bother you. but I reckon, just ‘cause you’re busy doesn’t mean you should have to be without company, right ?

   ❛ YOU PLAY SO BEAUTIFULLY, Mr Tumnus. it was a wonderful song, too --- reminds of springtime, somehow. perhaps because it sounded so light and happy, and springtime always makes me feel light and happy.
