“It’s not any better?” He questioned, still looking at her. Despite worrying, Teddy nodded and leaned down to kiss. “Go on and get all settled then. I’ll get the tea.” Teddy met Victoire in the living room a few minutes later, settling behind her on the couch after placing her mug on the coffee table. He pulled the blanket over both of them and moved his arms around her, resting a hand over her stomach without thinking. “You sure you’re okay?” Teddy asked again, carefully reaching for the remote so he wouldn’t move her. “Reassure me one more time and I’ll quit asking.”

♕ — “It comes and goes.” Reluctantly, Victoire moved away from the stove and let him finish making the tea for her. She settled down on the couch and picked out a movie from their collection. When he joined her, she simply scooted up a bit to give him room before she simply laid back against him. She rested the back of her head against his shoulder and placed her hands on top of his. “I’m okay,” she said as she looked back at him. “If it keeps up for another day, I promise I’ll go see a healer.”

“Dad’s keeping Iris another day. I told him you weren’t feeling good,” Teddy said as he walked into the kitchen. He flicked his wand in the direction of the tea kettle so she’d stop fussing with it and sat his wand, and his phone, on the counter so he could wrap his arms around her. He pressed a kiss to the side of her head. “Babe,” Teddy started, pulling back just enough to look at her. “Are you okay?” // @ofvictxry​

♕ — Victoire leaned back against her husband and closed her eyes for a moment as she felt his kiss against her temple. “I’m okay,” she replied not wanting him to worry over her though she knew that was unavoidable. “My stomach’s just upset. Tea will help,” she murmured and she tipped her head back to look at him. “And a movie marathon with my husband.”

“Yeah, yeah.” Teddy came in front of her to kiss her. “I don’t know why it’s taken us this long? I’m pretty sure our kid would live with my dad if I let her. There was no hesitation when I said she was staying with him tonight.” He smirked and pressed another kiss to her lips, before walking around her to grab his suit jacket. “I’ll be downstairs, Mrs. Potter. Come down when you’re ready.”

♕ — Victoire chuckled against his lips. “I don’t know about you, but I like having her around. She has her entertaining moments.” She watched as he grabbed his jacket before she simply stepped into the shoes that she had set aside for herself. “Won’t be too long,” she said and she was right. Once she had grabbed her jacket, she made her way down the stairs. “All ready to go.”

Teddy walked up the stairs to their bedroom to find his wife finishing up getting ready, and knocked on the door frame. “Hey,” Teddy smiled and walked over to kiss the side of her head. “Ready to head out?” He smirked and slid his arms around her, “I promise you can’t look anymore beautiful that you already do.”

♕ — “Hey,” Victoire smiled as she spotted her husband through the reflection of her mirror. As she finished placing in her earrings,  she chuckled softly and leaned back against him. “Why thank you, it’s been a little while since we had a night out just the two of us. Thought I’d put in a little effort.”

“Right? Breakfast with Dad, lunch at the Burrow, dinner at the Manor.” Teddy stepped up behind her and slid his arm around her waist. “We make everyone happy, neither one of us get killed by our grandmothers, and we can disappear and not talk to anyone for a week.” He kissed the side of Victoire’s head, just as their daughter sleepily walked into the kitchen. Teddy lowered his coffee mug and watched as Iris all but fell asleep again at the table within seconds. “I love watching her sugar crashes,” he teased. “It’s like watching a miniature drunk.”

♕ —– “Making it into the new year again without getting murdered by relatives, what a miracle,” Victoire hummed through her laughter before she too turned her attention to Iris who had joined them. She let out a soft snort and gently nudged him before she picked up Iris’ plate. She placed it down in front of their daughter and kissed the top of her head before she looked back at Teddy. “Are you going into the office today,” she asked curiously.

“Okay.” Teddy looked at his wife as he walked into the kitchen. “So I thought about it. If we did want to go see our families, we could do it on Christmas Eve.” He walked over to pour himself some coffee. “I’ll check with Dad to see what he’s doing, but we could go see him, then stop by the Burrow for a bit, and then do an hour tops around dinner at the Manor so my aunt and grandmother don’t kill me. We can be all packed up, and as soon as we leave, head to Shell Cottage until New Year’s.”

♕ —– Victoire cracked an egg into the pan and glanced over at Teddy as he spoke. She slowly nodded as she listened to plan that he laid out for them before she looked back to the breakfast she was making for him. “It’s doable,” she agreed as she flipped the food in the pan. “And doesn’t sound as much as a relay race as last year was,” she added with a chuckle. “As long as we get Christmas to New Years at the Cottage, I’m happy. It’d be nice not to be bothered by the outside world for a whole week.”

“Yeah. I have an idea of why he does what he does, I guess. When everyone follows your every move and tears it apart. I get it. But I don’t know.” He sighed and slid his arms around her when she sat on his lap. “I guess it’s just making it worse because I’m pretty sure Jasper knows. So that’s two of the people I’m closest to knowing something that ended my parents’ relationship.” Teddy shook his head, deciding not to go back down that rabbit hole for the night, and rested his chin on her shoulder. He snorted and looked at her. “Grandmother will get over it. I told her we wouldn’t skip stuffy pure-blood Christmas this year, or at least visit for a little bit. Because I totally thought about not going. I only didn’t last year because I’m pretty sure Hugo thought my uncle was going to kill him, but now they’re like best friends and it’s weird.”

♕ —– Victoire leaned her head against the top of his head as she leaned back into him. “Just talk to him first,” she murmured, “He’s your friend and just listen to him. I’m sure things will be all cleared up once you guys talk to each other.” She brushed her hair out of her eyes before she rested them on top of his and chuckled. “It’s a good thing that I didn’t give my mother an answer when she asked if we wanted to head over there for Christmas,” she said teasingly. “But that’s fine as long as we still have our Christmas morning like we did last year.”

“Okay good. Because I already booked our hotel room for the rest of the week.” He smirked and slid his arm around her waist, bringing her against his side. Teddy nodded. “I think that’d be good. She’d have fun. And I think I need to talk to him to at least get his side of what’s going on because ignoring it won’t do anything.” He sat down on a bench in the gardens and held out his arm for her to sit with him. “Ignoring makes things a lot easier, though.” Teddy gave her a small smirk, before nodding towards where they’d come from. “Did I tell you I’m really glad we didn’t do all of this? Because I’m really glad we didn’t do all of this.”

♕ —– Victoire let out a chuckle when he said that he had already booked out their room for the rest of the week. It was a nice surprise and she was happy to take the time to relax a little longer after all this wedding stuff was over with. “Ignoring it will only make things more awkward and you more accept,” she agreed. When he settled down on the bench, she simply took a seat on his lap and wrapped her arms gently around his neck. “I think you’ve mentioned it,” she said with a nod. “I agree. We just only have to deal with my mum and your grandmother reminding us how sad they are for us eloping in the end for the rest of our lives. No big deal.”

Teddy kissed the back of her hand and walked out with her, snorting as they fell instep with each other. “We did. I’m sure she’ll stay with her cousin or Dad tonight, so maybe we won’t have to deal with it.” Teddy looked down at her and smiled, pressing a kiss to the side of her head. “We can. Maybe we can stay a few days over. It’d also give me a cushion before I have to go back and deal with everything.” He paused, before shaking his head. “I’m gonna try to talk to him in the morning. At least Jasper and work up to Dad. There must have been some reason for all of this.”

♕ —– “Maybe,” Victoire chuckled as she looked up at him. She eased into the kiss that he placed against the side of her head and closed her eyes for a brief moment. “I would like that. It’ll be nice to relax a bit before having to go back home.” At what he said next, she gave his hand a gentle squeeze and nodded. “I can distract Iris with going out to breakfast, if that’ll help.”

“Well. Jasper knows.” Teddy looked at her. “He’s been my best friend forever. One look at me, he knew. Which makes me think he knew before I did.” He let out a breath, glancing over to make sure Iris was still with the other girls. He followed Victoire’s lead and stood up, taking her hand in his. “Sounds good to me – hold on.” Teddy led her over to where Iris was and nodded for her to come over. “We’ll be back in a little bit. Don’t leave without Pop Pop, okay?” She nodded and he smiled, ruffling her curls, before watching her run off again. “Okay.” he turned his attention back to his wife and lead her out. “Oddly, I’m glad we did decide to come, though. Even though I’ve been avoiding stuff, it’s been a nice distraction.” He pressed a kiss to the back of her hand. “Sucks we couldn’t get away from Iris being pumped full of sugar, though.”

♕ —– Victoire’s fingers weaved their way between his as she followed beside him as they made their way to Iris. Once their little girl was settled, Victoire rested her cheek against his arm as they walked. “We both knew that she was going to end up full of sugar either way, so at least we’re prepared for later until she hits that crash,” she offered with a soft chuckle. “I’m always happy to travel somewhere with you and Iris. I much rather be somewhere else than in England.” Yes, she had family back home but with that came all the attention. She understood why her own parents stayed away. “We can check Italy off our travel to-do list at least.”

“Still glad me and you are more low-key,” he tossed her a half-smirk, bringing his arm back around her so she was more settled against him. Teddy’s gaze went to the crowd, scanning it to look for their daughter. “If you say so, darling,” he finally said, when he caught sight of her neon pink curls, twirling around on the dance floor with Ilsa and Ava. “I feel like I’m walking around with a sign over my head or something. The fact that he’s walking around like everything is pissing me off, but whatever.” He looked back at his wife, taking her hand. “Come on. Let’s go step out for a bit. I think she’s fine in here with the other girls.”

♕ —– Vic only let out a soft snort as she leaned against Teddy and rested her head back against his shoulder. “Only because you’re stressed and still, justifiably, upset about everything.” She turned her head slightly to look up at him. She didn’t like that he was hurt by all of this and she didn’t like that uncle Harry was the cause. This just wasn’t something the man she looked up to for all her life would do, at least in her mind, and she still had to deal with that fact. At Teddy’s suggestion, Victoire nodded her head and pulled back gently only to hold out her hand for him to take. “A breath of fresh air would be nice,” she said as she carefully stood up and smoothed out the skirt of her dress with her other hand.

“I’m sure I’ll except any of those.” Teddy looked at her with a smile, knowing what she was doing, but that only calmed him down more. He leaned over to kiss her. “Thank you.” Teddy didn’t feel the need to keep it a secret anymore from people he was closest too, so he told his cousin and let her know they might be leaving early. He made it through helping make sure Iris didn’t run off before the ceremony and get her dress ruined, to actually getting through the ceremony without bumping into Jasper, his dad, or anyone he didn’t feel like talking to at the moment, but he wasn’t sure how long he’d be able to avoid it. “It hasn’t been that bad,” he mused, finding his wife at a nearby table. Teddy handed the drink over to her. “Maybe it’s because it’s not a Weasley or Potter wedding.” He sat down beside her. “I’m not being obvious in my avoiding them, am I?”

♕ —– Victoire was rather proud of herself for not getting overwhelmed by the amount of people who had come to celebrate Dylan and Emmett’s union. Then again, she had spent most of it busy helping Teddy with Iris and was far too distracted to even remember that she was required to small talk with those she didn’t know very well. Victoire had settled in a seat to rest her feet when she was joined by her husband and she smiled when he presented her with a drink. “Not bad at all. A wedding in Italy can never be bad,” she said as she took her glass and had a sip. “And no,” she replied to his question. “We’ve been trying to keep up with Iris and everyone else has been busy helping Dylan.”

“I know.” Teddy put his head back on her, thinking over it slightly. “I don’t think she’d mind going with them. But still. I mean, what am I gonna do? Avoid my Dad at every function until I get over this? And Jasper’s my best friend. He can literally read me like a book. If I miss his brother’s wedding, he’ll know something’s up and then I’ll have to talk about it because I can’t block the big, blond asshole out of my head.” He huffed out a breath. “What if we go. Take Iris. If it gets too much, I’ll give an excuse and we leave her with Cassie and Hugo.” He looked back at his wife and shrugged. “If my Dad figures out what it really is, I don’t care.”

♕ —– Teddy made valid points, she couldn’t argue with them. There wasn’t a right solution to it and that wasn’t either of their faults. They weren’t the ones who made everything so unnecessarily complicated. It was why she believed in telling the truth, no matter how hard it was. “I can think of any number of excuses to leave early,” she said and added in hopes to make him chuckle, even if a little bit, “we both know I don’t mind skipping out on a party early.” She looked over at him and reached up to brush a strand out of his eyes. “Whatever will help make this a little easier.”

“She’s 7. There’s no good way to phrase any of this.” Teddy stared at the ceiling, even when she laid down beside him. “And Jasper’s a legilimens. I’m sure someone let their guard down around him over the past thirty years. Which is cool. More people hiding stuff from me. Like, the fact Dad thought it was okay to hide it? I get why Mum’s upset. They weren’t even together at the time and it shouldn’t have been a big deal, but now it is,” Teddy sighed. “Dad doesn’t think about how he’s actually hurting other people when he pulls this shit. I mean, I get it. I know he’s been through actual hell and back, but still. Ignoring something or not talking about it doesn’t make it go away.” He turned his head to look at her. “It would have been a really good weekend to pull the full moon card.”

♕ —– “I just meant, give yourself time to sit with it before we talk to Iris.” She knew that he was hurting and she knew that Iris was only going to react to that. She fell silent as she listened to Teddy. After all the years they had known Jasper, she knew that he wouldn’t keep something like this from Teddy. Others maybe, but not Teddy. “We can pretend I’m sick if you really don’t want to go and have Iris go with your cousin,” she murmured as she looked over at him. “I don’t mind curling up here for the holiday. Merlin knows something dramatic is bound to happen at that Carnival or somewhere else.”

“Oh. Would I? Because I thought that about my dad, too. But I dunno. He gave Jasper the Deputy Head position. Maybe he’s the one he tells everything to.” Teddy closed his eyes and took a deep breath, letting her hand in his hair ground him for a minute. Teddy lifted his head, leaning into the kiss to his temple. “Probably. Honestly, I’m about to see if Hugo and Cassie can just take Iris with them to the wedding because I don’t feel like seeing my dad, but she’s excited and I don’t want to do that to her.” He laid back on the bed and looked at Victoire. “What do I even tell her? She’s attached to Dad’s hip and she’s way too smart for her own good. She’s going to figure out something’s wrong.”

♕ —– Vic remained silent knowing that the news of it all and the hurt he felt from it were what was ruling his thoughts. She knew, despite all of it, that uncle Harry cared for Teddy and she was sure Harry had his reasons for this secret, even if she couldn’t think of what those reasons could be. She knew that Teddy would come around and understand, Harry was his father after all. She let him rest back and she moved to lay down next to him. “I’m not sure,” she replied, “but I think any sort of explanation can come when your head isn’t spinning from it all.” She reached for his hand. “We’ll figure something out. We always do in the end.”

“That’s why he was acting weird at the wedding.” Teddy wordlessly rested his head against her when he felt her wrap her arms around him. He wasn’t sure what hurt worse; the obvious lie, or the fact that the image he had of his dad had shattered. “It was Jasper’s sister,” he finally said, after a moment. “I knew Dad was close to his mum, but I don’t know. And she knew.” But he felt bad for being mad at his best friend’s sister since she wasn’t even there for him to be bad at anymore, which made him feel worse. Teddy lifted his head, shaking it. “God, I swear if Jasper knew, too…” He looked at his wife after a beat passed. “I’m sorry. I’ve just been trying to hold this in for the past hour.”

♕ —– Her fingers stroked through his hair as her brows rose up in surprise. Like Teddy, she was aware that his father and Jasper’s mum had been close but she hadn’t realized that it was that close. She really couldn’t wrap her mind around it. “Jasper wouldn’t keep that from you,” she murmured as she hugged him a little tighter. “You always know when he’s keeping something from you.’ She gave him a small smile and hoped that it was a comforting one. “You don’t need to apologize, Teddy, you can’t keep how you’re feeling all to yourself.” She leaned down a bit and kissed his temple. “Maybe we should have stayed at our beach getaway.”
