@oftimelines is in my way.
everything hurt. maybe they ought to have been used to this by now, but they stubbornly bit their tongue and wiped away the tears that betrayed them and threatened to spill down their cheeks. the robot had been a tougher fight than they’d anticipated. but now he’d been reduced to nothing but a useless pile of garbage.
a deep inhale, stepping into the long hallway. it filled them with determination. their journey through the underground was drawing to a close, just a little bit longer.
touching the scarf around their neck with a sick sense of pride upon realizing just who waited for them on the other side of the ‘ judgement hall ‘
they’d wondered when the comedian would show his face again. after the threat of fighting his brother he’d simply disappeared. and here they’d thought he’d gone wallowed in self pity and guilt for not stepping in sooner.
not that it mattered if he had. he’d be reduced to dust at some point.
calloused, dusty fingers reached into the sweatshirt pocket to retrieve the knife. they suspected the skeleton had a spiel to get through like the rest of them, but they didn’t care. this body wouldn’t hold out much longer, and they naively believed this fight wouldn’t be that bad.
they stepped forward, a grin touching their features. the casual walk broke into a run. they drew their arm back and swiped and -
Sans should have known it would come to this. His brother had disappeared, and soon others followed. He didn’t even need to check the human’s LV to know what they had done. Yet he stood there at the end of the hall, awaiting them.
He simply sidestepped the knife, and used his blue magic to throw the human backwards down the hall.
{SANS} —- “arent you going to let me speak first? jeez. what a rude kid.”
The skeleton’s expression seemed… Almost emotionless. Like he didn’t really care about everything that had happened. His eyesockets were dark, at least they used to be. Now a single blue glow was coming from the left eye. He gave the human a warning, and they didn’t listen. So now that meant that he had no choice now. The king was beyond him, and so was the recently revived Royal Scientist.
His job was to not let the human by.
So he won’t.
{SANS} —- “welp. dont say i didnt warn you, kid.”
Several bones would appear below them. If they dodged or not was another story.
anticipation for when metal met bone, for that awful noise it made and the expression the skeleton wore once everything had been said and done - never came. instead, it felt as though something grabbed hold of their heart - their very soul - as they flew backwards and hit the ground harder than expected. the wind knocked out of them, they gasped for air, clutching their chest and biting their tongue as the pain came back, but worse.
they hardly had time to recover, though, lifting their head to see bones materialize underneath them. a scream echoed throughout the judgement hall as the bones pierced the flesh, leaving them contorted and writhing. breath came heavily, and they tried not to show weakness and cry, but it hurt, it hurt, i t h u r t.
every move only made it worse. they’d died before, they’d die again, but they could always come back, again and again until every last horrible, ugly monster in the Underground was nothing more than a faint, forgettable memory.
fingers splayed as blood pooled underneath them, reaching for the r e s e t button that flickered before them. but they realized it wouldn’t be easy. they’d have to first rip their arm from the bone that held it there, no doubt shattering their own bone. how a child could manage through all the pain and trauma and come back for more, despite the fact that, at any moment, they could abandon this route and start anew, was beyond them.
they just wanted the satisfaction, knowing that the lives of these monsters was at their mercy, and they’d chosen to be malevolent instead.
another scream as they broke free, and their arm fell heavily to the ground. grit teeth, they tried to lift it, comforted by the fact that once they pushed the button none of this pain would matter. they’d be faster. stronger. they’d win.
do you want to reset?
yes.
all at once, everything disappeared. they were weightless for only a moment, before coming into being again - just outside the judgement hall. examining their body, they noticed the places the bones had gone through left only a faint scar, but they didn’t hurt. wonderful.
they stepped into the judgement hall again. screw you, sans, and your unnecessarily long-winded speech. they had something to prove, and you were in their way.
{SANS} ---- "that expression youre wearing..."
A chuckle left the skeleton. He knew exactly what he had done just a few minutes ago. Now he just had to repeat that until they give up.
{SANS} ---- "thats the look of somebody who's already died once. how about we repeat that, huh?"
Sans let out a sigh, and closed his eyes.
{SANS} ---- "its a beautiful day outside. birds are singing. flowers are blooming. on days like these... kids like you...
S h o u l d b e b u r n i n g i n h e l l."
Several bone attacks were sent towards Ash, and Sans pushed them to the ground with his blue magic. Several Gasterblasters appeared, firing at them. First in a T shape, then an X shape, until a massive laser took up the center of the hallway.
He would not grant them a moment a peace. A moment or chance to catch their breath. His job was simple.
Make.
Them.
Pay.
