The sunâs heat blazes down on those who collect on the lawn in front of Holy Cross Parish, and even Aaronâs own shirt would cling to their back with sweat. The church had nothing more than fans standing at the ground, circulating what little cool air there was through the service, and even now stood outside where there was the slightest breeze- most still used their pamphlets to wave air in their faces.
But Aaron wouldnât let it bother him, with a sweat bead running down their forehead, and the ever precent beaming smile across their features. âThankyou for making it down today,â shaking the hand of some of the faces they were new to meet today. But honestly that had been just about everyone- after barley having been in town for a week now. But they were more than happy to assist the Pastor with the thanks, if not for the excuse to get to talk to more people. âIâm Aaron Lacey, Iâll be around helping the Pastor out for a little while if you ever need anything.â

Church had never really been his thing, heâd gone with his mother when he was a kid to appease her and had continued into adulthood and through his marriage because it was important to his wife that they set a foundation for the kids. The marriage might be ending, but Alex was pretty damn sure she was going to have continuing services for their kids on his weeks in the custody agreement, so he may as well stick to it. But the damn heat inside the church was stifling, and Alexander was more ready than most other Sundays to get this over and done with. Naturally, that would mean that Eloise would sneak away to meet one of her friends, and Alex sighed. He offered a tight smile to the man that introduced himself, and smiled. âAlex Hawkins, nice to meet you. In terms of needing things, you seen a ten-year-old around? Blue dress, dark hair, looks just like an older version of this one,â he said as he jerked his head towards his youngest daughter, holding tight to his hand.
