“ believe me , i won’t my my girl getting a little rough. “ smirking at he took his next shot to the head with ease. “maybe if i had one i wouldn’t feel the need to get into the ring so much.” his dark eyes scanned the room for a minute before he spot the guy he had just faced not earlier. currently licking his wounds and giving theo a death glare. to which, theo offered up a cocky wink as he leaned closer towards the woman voice low. “ pretty sure i pissed him off, don’t think he appreciates me taking his title as undefeated. his gaze shifting towards her, lingering a little too long on her lips before shifting his eye to the three new shots placed in front of him. “guessing this bar is good a place as any to do that. you need some help taking your mind off things. i wouldn’t mind messing with that guy a little more till the next match.”
He was quick to deny being tied down and Kala couldn’t help but assume that it was because he wanted her to know just how available he was. It wasn’t a leap, and her theory was quickly confirmed by the way his eyes lingered on her. “Oh, so you just needed to blow off a little steam, is that it?” she asked, playful taunting in her tone. Her eyes followed his as surveyed the other patrons and she rolled her eyes at the exchange between the man in front of her and his opponent. “Well, if he didn’t have it in him, that’s not really your fault now is it?” she asked, her volume matching his, the low tone making her voice that sultry kind of husky. “And just how are you going to take my mind off of things?” Kala challenged, taking a half step towards him, brown hues looking up at him through her eyelashes.

“Would you believe there are far worse places to pick things up?” For all fights were frowned up Ansel would rather pick something up from being apart of it then being a bystander, or it not being a fight at all and just cruelty onto another. Fights for all their bad name, didn’t necessarily deserve it. Though they didn’t have very much a good one either. A smile slipped onto his features at her response, a nod of his head. “Staying busy is good, I feel often the same.” Staying busy was healthy for his mind in this new world that they lived. “Commentary isn’t always a criticism though, not when it’s constructive.” Ansel mused. “Most often I find a small thing changed helps someone grow further then they could have without the knowledge.” He chuckled, taping at the stronger dent he’d left with her advice. “Case in point.”
“I’m older than I look, you’d be surprised at the number of outlandish things that I’d believe,” she answered with a light laugh. There wasn’t much in the world that was capable of surprising her anymore. She had learned to expect the worst from people, to prepare for agony and heartache rather than hope for joy and fulfillment. Those moments were few and far between, and Kala wasn’t naive enough to continue to hold onto optimism. “And what is it that you’re staying busy with? Besides the training of course.” Kala had to admit the truth in his words; she had just seen the proof of it. “Well, I think that you might just be a really good listener. Most people, men especially, wouldn’t dare to take advice from a stranger. Much less one that inserted themselves without being asked. You should really just assume that I’m completely devoid of manners,” she teased, grin on her lips making it obvious that she was teasing.

kris let out a long whistle. “ i don’t know, i mean sarcastic quips and banter i pass those out like candy. but my pizza. ma'am i hardly know you.” he jested food was serious business he didn’t just share with anyone still considering she didn’t seem half as broody as some people hes run into in the last few months .that alone was a worthy of a thanks… for not being a little shit. chuckling, he moved the box of pizza towards her, “ i’m not sharing my drink.” he grinned humming in satisfaction as he took another bite of his slice. “ no dying and nothing blowing up. sounds like i came back at the worst time.”
She liked him already. He seemed like a kindred spirit, someone that was willing to not take life quite so seriously and that was hard to find in the supernatural community. She had no idea if he actually was part of that circle, but in a place like this teeming with magic, it was safer to assume he was clued in than clueless. “Mm, well let me just keep hoping that my pretty face will play on those heartstrings, get you feeling generous,” she answered, flashing him a grin. The second that the pizza box was pushed towards her, that grin widened and she happily grabbed a slice. “I got a feeling we’re not interested in the same kind of beverages,” she answered, referring to the fact that she didn’t sense any vampirism from him. A chuckle escapes just as she bites into her slice, chewing and swallowing before answering. “Oh yeah? Were you hoping for chaos, all that serenity got you bored?”
jackson briefly laughed off the name he had somehow made for himself. she wasn't too far off. he liked to think he had a talent for woodwork and the general outdoors. rubbing calloused palms together, he began to reminisce on these so called opportunities to travel the world. " you could say i've traveled a lot, yeah. had no choice but to always be on our feet back then. " all four of them, to be exact, but he omitted that part for the sake of normalcy. now ? well, now he wished that all of his pack was in one place. that way, he wouldn't have to leave any of them behind. turning to her, he tilted his head. " i'm jackson, " he introduced himself. " i'm guessing you got someone important staying in town ? "
“Better to be on your feet than have someone knocking them out from under you,” she answered with a shrug. That was how Kala ended a lot of her encounters. She had speed and strength on her side and she was excellent at her job but that didn’t mean that she wasn’t capable of getting caught off guard. Even now, she knew in the back of her mind that she was allowing herself to get too comfortable; this sleepy little town was lulling her into a false sense of security. Comfortable was the most dangerous place someone in her field could be. “I’m Kala,” she answered, playful glint in her eyes. “Is that your none too subtle way of trying to find out if I have a boyfriend, Jackson?” she asked, raising an eyebrow in question. “I’m here for my best friend. He just got hired at the hospital. I’ll stay to spend as much time with him as I can before the next large gust of wind comes by and I let myself get blown right out of town. It won’t be long. It never is.”

Otto smirked in response. “I promise I won’t go beyond my register.” The phoenix reassured. “No girl group songs tonight.” He reassured. “Maybe I’ll sing a ballad or two.” He joked as he saw her take another swig. “That alcholol must be top tier.” He said with a smirk. “I’m guessing Karoake night isn’t your reason for being here?” Otto asked nonchantly.
Kala smirked at his answer, rolling her eyes at the response. “I’m going to choose to believe you,” she answered dryly. This really wasn’t her thing, she didn’t do small talk with strangers well but she was here and she was trying her best. “Mm, the alcohol is cheap but it beats being sober.” She shook her head at his question, smiling gently. “I don’t really like people in general. I like people that think they can sing and then do it loudly and poorly even less.”
Gia knew how it felt to just want to drink away everything. Hell, at the moment she wanted to do just that but she still didn’t know how well that would go over with her new life and what not. The woman was still learning to put her two feet down on this new realm she had just been introduced to. Her hands came up, mid air as a sign of no judgement at all, “Trust me, I am the last person that could ever pass judgement on you.” Besides she had enough things to juggle on her own, she didn’t need to add anything else. “Rough day at work?” She figured that would be a safe place to start the conversation at.
Kala nodded at the answer, happy to have be near someone that seemed to at least get her perspective. She was run down and tired but still standing and at the end of the day, isn’t that what mattered? “Woman after my own heart,” Kala answered, sly smile on her rosy red lips. She couldn’t explain it but she felt an immediate kinship with the woman next to her and it softened the brunette in a way that she rarely let happen. That soft side was typically reserved to Ezra and Ezra alone. “Mm, work is just a wee bit complicated right now,” she admits. Complicated was an understatement but she wasn’t exactly going to advertise the fact that she was in town for nefarious reasons. “What about you? Drowning your sorrows?”

a lighthearted scoff pushed past his lips at her words. “ do you not recall the time i found you on that small corner bakery in paris ? or the time we bumped into each other by chance in tokyo ? ” in other words, if she had been here long before him — he would’ve been the first to know. his job might’ve kept him preoccupied nine times out of ten but he had eyes and ears in most corners of the world. a precautionary measure that ezra had put into place to ensure her safety … at all times. whether or not she knew of this, he wasn’t quite sure ( and not that he cared much whether or not she approved ) he had every right to be overprotective especially if he were to take her rather sporadic behavior into consideration. “ i’d never take you for granted, ” he admitted, grabbing a hold of the bottle now to take a generous swig from it. the liquor burned down his throat and eventually settled at the pit of his stomach. a hundred more of those and he’d actually start to feel something. ezra lifted his free hand, fingers reaching over to brush a loose strand of hair away from her face. “ i’m already aware i’m the luckiest man alive to have you by my side. ” his hand returns back down to rest on the counter. “ a friend like that only comes once or twice in a lifetime. ”
Kala grins at the memories, shaking her head at the mention of Tokyo. “I still maintain that you stalked me to Japan. There was no way that you just happened to show up there at the same time I got sent to kill a foreign operative. You check up on me, you big softie. I know it.” A few centuries ago, the fact that he kept such a close eye on her might have been insulting but Kala had grown to love that part of Ezra. She was strong and most people assumed that strength meant that she didn’t have anything that she feared or simply forgot that she might be suffering. Her career put her in constant danger but Kala was an adrenaline junkie that loved the uncertainty of how a mission would end. Getting into sticky situations was half the fun, after all. The other half was watching the horror on Ezra’s face when she regaled him with tales of her narrowest escapes once she was safe and sound. “Mm, I don’t know, E. I feel a little unappreciated. I guess you better find a way to make it up to me...” Her eyes met his as he reached out to brush a raven lock back from her face, the skin of her cheek tingling where his fingers trailed. Teeth sank into her bottom lip, an eyebrow raised in question. “I think that we’re both pretty lucky,” she answered, her voice quiet with sincerity. Was this the moment? After 500 years together, was she finally going to break down and cross that line in some random bar in small town Virginia? No, she couldn’t. It seemed rather anti-climatic after all. “Mm. the best of friends, that’s us. Unbreakable bond and all.” She cringed at her own word choice, choosing to bite the bullet and just get into the thick of it. “Speaking of the ties that bind...let’s talk about these sireline disputes, shall we?”
becomingfractured:
cameron knew that she had an eternity ahead of her ( perks of being a demigod ) and perhaps that was why she had decided to cut back on her studies at whitmore. spending most of her time raising the little ones just felt right. she couldn’t help the chuckle that fell from the other as she noted it being a long couple of years, she could say that again. ‘ i’d say it’s been a long lifetime. ’ she was young, but she had certainly lived through more tragedies in her twenty-two years of life, than many did in their lifetimes. ‘ things are looking up though, ’ she muses with a tilt of her head. bringing her hand up before her, fingers crossing as if to will it to be.
A long lifetime. That was a sentiment that Kala could understand. There had been moments of joy and flashes of rage and certainly agony but most of all Kala just felt tired. She had gotten herself into a sticky situation a few months back and now she owed a debt. It was debt that she wasn’t willing to pay, one that she was desperate to avoid, and for now she would remain in McKinley acting as if she was working on her mission. It was the only way to appease both sides of her life. “I’ll drink to that,” she joked, taking another drink before sliding the bottle over to the woman next to her. “Glad things are looking up for you. Savor it. You never know how long it will last.” Because for Kala? Well, things still seemed fairly grim if she was being totally honest.
