â SUMMARY
Tariq grew up in a strict household where curfews were enforced, chores must be completed, and infractions were punished. But for the most part Tariq didnât mind, he followed the rules without much question. Besides, his mother was the type to let things slide more so than his father, and neither of them were home that often to begin with. Instead he was often put under the care of his older cousins or family friends.
His father was the town sheriff when he was a boy and from a young age Tariq aspired to follow in those footsteps. Was it because from birth his father had impressed upon him a desire for that or because he actually wanted to beyond pleasing his fatherâs wish - that was up for debate.
A nurse at the local ER, Tariqâs mother was known for coming home with all sorts of tales that seemed too wild to be completely true. But sheâd seen it with her own two eyes, the injuries obtained in such mystical tales, illnesses that came on so quickly with no clear cause or reasoning... Tariq loved hearing her stories that she brought home from her shift every evening and wanted to believe that there was some truth to the mystical supernatural of their town. But a more logical part of himself wanted to lay true reason on top of it. It leaves him walking a line of interest but skepticism, a little bit of both his parents perspectives.
Tariq only left Fenrirâs Wood for four years of college. While he wouldnât give up that decision for anything, he returned home shortly after graduation because it was where he felt he belonged - among family.
Just before Tariq took up a position at the local police department and began training, his father had passed away due to a sudden and brutal illness. Heâd seen something similar happen to a friend of his when theyâd been in high school, only they made it through to the other side. Maybe the town thought they did a good job of keeping their secrets behind lock and key, but he wasnât that much of a fool. He dug. He asked questions, poked and prodded, stuck his nose where it didnât belong.
He married his long time partner and closest friend about a year ago. They have been discussing the possibility of adoption but havenât made a move to that next step just yet.
