We know there have been a lot of questions surrounding the movies on Friday and Saturday night at PhileFest. We wanted to wait until we had a complete response to this, but we realize that we need to address this now.

When the SAG-AFTRA strike began, we were all thrown for a loop because no one knew exactly what could or couldn’t be done. In an abundance of caution, we removed items from the website until we knew what the guidelines were. Getting this information took longer than we wanted or expected it to.

In the end, one of the biggest stipulations was that nothing could be done that profited any of the corporations that were being struck. This included paying the licensing fees to Disney for the rights to show both of the movies. We had two options: keep the movies and lose most of our guests, or lose the movies and keep our guests. We opted to keep our guests.

That being said, we have been working very hard to find fun and exciting replacements for our evening events.

Friday night: in addition to The Enigma’s wild one-man carnival show, we will now have an acoustic concert by the one-and-only Bree Sharp!

Saturday night: in addition to Dean Haglund’s hilarious stand-up comedy, we will also be having an after hours mixer.

While it might not be as we originally planned, we are still excited that PhileFest will continue, and that all of you Philes will get to celebrate the 30th anniversary together!

An update for all attending:

We regret to inform our attendees and guests that writer and creative John Shiban will no longer be present at Philefest. While his presence will be missed at our event, join us in wishing the best for Mr. Shiban and his future endeavors.

In regards to the ongoing strikes: As of right now nothing has changed for Philefest. We have only had a few hours to process things ourselves and no one, agents included, has concrete answers on what is fully going on. We are doing everything we can to find out and staying informed, including remaining in contact with SAG-AFTRA. We will keep everyone informed as we find out further information ourselves.
