âSo would youâŚrather have been a soldier or an agent?â she asked with a bright smile. Hope was always curious about why her father and other people chose this path. It was dangerous and scary and it got her brother and mother killed.Â
"Well you wonât die with me!â she said, grinning. I may not be an agent, but I know karate and I also know how to use a gun if needed. Not that we would need any of that in this mansion."Â
"And I am sorry that you almost died. That must have been horrible.â She felt bad for Roxy, but at the same time she knew that was the risk that these people took everyday. She knew that from personal experience.
âOh I would go agent any day. Though I wonât share with you the details to bore you with. Being an Agent Iâve done more than being a soldier would have.â It was true, she had saved countless more lives, and it was completely fine by her that the public didnât need to know about them.
Roxy was flattered that the woman said that to her. Roxy knew that if Hope wanted she could easily become an agent should she want it and a position open up. âTrue, when the Statesmen helped us rebuild I insisted that better missile defenses should be added seeing as the last ones barely warned me in time to escape.â
âItâs fine I know that one day this job will probably kill me in one way or another. we serve our country and the world. Though Iâm glad I didnât die by that knob Charlie.â Roxy bit her tongue at the last statement. She really shouldnât have said that, it was ungentlemanlike.
