Its was exhausting when i was actively listening to her music and had a more positive view on her, and its still exhausting now as an ex-fan who just wants people to treat her like a human being and actually discuss her shortcomings in a normal manner.

I truly can sympathize with you guys, and I completely understand how and why the fandom is the way it is, but that also isn't an excuse either.

I've seen first hand what can happen if you even try to question Taylor's actions, and its not pretty. Its actually one of the reasons why i cannot listen to her anymore. I think its a shame that Taylor has both encouraged this behavior in the past, and subsequently hasn't done enough to prevent it from getting out of control.

Taylor is a human who will make mistakes, do bad things, and have bad opinions. That's just something that a loud and parasocial portion of the fandom needs to come to terms with.

She isn't a saint, or untouchable, and you cannot blindly defend her questionable/problematic actions (or inactions) no matter what.

Of course you can defend her against genuinely insane and untrue claims but you cannot act like she has never done anything wrong either.

I think that's mostly the problem, there's too much of an all or nothing mentality surrounding Taylor Swift. Too many people think you either have to worship the ground she walks on, or think shes the devil incarnate. Both sides hold unhealthy mindsets, think too much in black and white and wont listen to reason.

It's a viscous cycle that I wish could just stop.

I think for most swifties their heart is in the right place. imo you should call out sexist and unhinged comments no matter if shes a billionaire or not, because allowing it just sets a bad president for people to think they can talk like that about any women they know.

An anti Taylor site posted a picture of a Steven J. Demetriou, who is about 30 years older than that and nowhere near MSG, and screamed that she invited the ICE contractor Executive Chair of Amentum Services.

Can you send a link to this exact article? I've genuinely been looking and cannot find a MSN article where they are debunking or retracting those statements.

All the articles I am seeing are saying that Republican Ohio representative Steven J. Demetriou Jr. IS in fact the son of Steven J. Demetriou, the Executive Chairman of Amentum Holdings, a contractor for an ICE facility. Even the MSN articles im skimming through are either saying he attended with his son or that his son was there alone. So if its so easy to verify you'd be able to send a link real quick xx

I’ve seen a few articles talking about them inviting the ICE contractor to their wedding some were saying it was him some were saying it wasn’t it was his son so I’m still not sure but yeah obviously people are gonna be defensive when you either A) only criticize Taylor for stuff and not other artists doing the same things B) body shame her (especially with her eating disorder thing though I don’t think it bothers her anymore at least according to Miss Americana it does sometimes but that was released in 2019/2020) or C) just spew sexist comments toward. Either way, it's insane to me to even want to be associated with anyone from that family, let alone being friends with them.

Why can y'all not comprehend that you can dislike Taylor Swift without being fucking weird about it, cause normal people who can just do that will just start despising you too.

You see someone say one thing that isn't complete and total hatred for Taylor and you immediately write them off as a fan, and won't even read through my post or watch the video where I criticize that Exact. Fucking. Point.

All I was saying was to not make up fake stories when there are real issues around Taylor that need to be discussed; like how she's a billionaire, has MAGA friends, how she waited till the last chance to speak up before the election, how she won't say anything about the white House using her music for ICE videos despite other artists that are at, or close to her level of popularity, have.

But y'all rather just say she looks ugly and body shame her for a picture that isn't even from her wedding.

Y'all will say whatever you can to ridicule her no matter if it's based in reality or not.

Taylor is not above criticism, there are genuine topics about her and her fandom's behavior that should be discussed. I also think her fandom needs to have a wakeup call about that too.

But also I completely understand why they are so defensive about her as well.

The amount of baseless body shaming, sexualizing, bullying and straight up sexism that Taylor's haters spew is actually insane.

I've made one (1) TikTok about her and the names I've been called and the blatant misogyny that I've had to read through is fucking vile.

Of course Swifties won't change their ways if this is a constant for them. Of course they feel the need to defend Taylor no matter if the situation warrants it or not.

Everything will feel like an attack no matter what when you deal with people who don't even care if what they're saying is the truth or not.
