“Ah oui, yes. Hello,” Jerry started as he set down the Cuthbert’s pitchfork. A moment to break wouldn’t be bad. It wasn’t like he got to talk to many boys his age. Not that Jerry thought Gilbert was here for him or anything. “Anne isn’t home. She left for Diana’s.”

Winifred smiled down at her chest while she let him work through the words. “I do but tell me… Are you just as articulate in French as you are in English?” She always wondered if he was like this all the time or just with her? She would have to find that out one day.

“Because if so, you will be needing me as a translator.” She spared him a wink to tell him that she was only just teasing. As always. 

“   let  me  have  a  gander  at  this.   ”        anne  noses  into  the  cooker ,   reigning  around  the  kitchen  as  if  she  was  at  her  house ;     and  even  she  wasn’t  precisely  at  home ,   ever  since  mary’s  death ,   the  redhead  spent  as  much  time  at  the  blythe’s  farmstead  as  she  did  in  green  gables .        “   see ,   did  you  forget  the  saffron ?     i  mean ,   it’s  an  honest  mistake     ——     one  myself  make  all  the  bloody  time .     guess  we  still  aren’t  used  to  these  condiments  as  mary  was .   ”
