SP. Brando’s Digitized Face. Listen to Me Marlon (2015)

These visuals were constructed by the filmmakers from a series of scans of Brando’s head that were made around 20 years ago. (1994-1995)

Brando was interested in the potential to preserve actors and their performances digitally.

It’s a concept that was explored in the 2014 Ari Folman film “The Congress.” Brando had a friend in the world of visual effects named Scott Billups, who worked with the actor to scan different expressions in the hopes that they could be used in the future.

The director Stevan Riley gained access to these scans through Brando’s estate, and collaborated with the producer Alex Webster, who supervised the project of turning those scans into 3-D animation, via a software platform that allowed animators to manipulate the scan data.

Science isn’t about WHY. It’s about WHY NOT. Why is so much of our science dangerous? Why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won’t hit you on the butt on the way out, because you are fired. Not you, test subject, you’re doing fine. Yes, you. Fired. Box. Your stuff. Out the front door. Parking lot. Car. Goodbye.
