i remembered i had a little post about how all the disabled characters in harry potter are only used as a spectacle and/or plot device but tumblrs being a bitch and when i search for it its saying i dont have a post like that so ig i’ll say it again

remus’ lycanthrophy is handled terribly i think we can all agree and his condition is used as a plot device to allow the marauders to be animagi and for peter to escape.

moody having a peg leg and a fake eye is only there to make him looked more grizzled and scary it has no bearing on his actual character he never has an issue with the hogwarts stairs nor with flying or dueling. his disabilities are only there to look at.

kettleburn teaches care of magical creatures before hagrid, retiring to, and i quote, “spend time with his remaining limbs”

hagrids impaired intelligence due to his giant genes are again something to laugh at. this had some real potential, his disability genuinely has an affect on his life, he cant spell he fucks up cooking he tells people things he shouldn’t but in the end they’re all thing we are supposed to look at and laugh.
