This began life as a simple riff sketch, but I noticed something was deeper about itβ more powerful. I began to flesh it out, add layers, develop the song into something. It gained a ferocity, less a song to release and more a battle cry, a signal to the world that I still draw breath, I still share my work with the world, I'm still HERE. For this song, I decided to go all outβ I reached out to the amazing Ambasa for breathtaking artwork, AryaFord for gorgeous animation, and OrihimeVT for absolutely iconic logo design. I want this song to leave a permanent mark on the Eurobeat world and the others I inhabit, so I sought the best.
As for the video... in so many cases, I've turned to the unparalleled Jusagi and fantastic Emi for animation and editing respectively. But for this song, I wanted to test myself, see what I could create with my own vision and direction for the song. So, I decided to edit this video myself.
I must also noteβ while it was unintentional, I recognize that the bridge of this song is very similar to the bridge in DPR Ian's "Peanut Butter & Tears". This was not my plan, though the nature of that song doubtless influenced this production in ways beyond the obvious. If you like Don't Count Me Out, then I highly suggest you listen to DPR Ian's works as well.

What is the process in writing lyrics for your songs? Is the theme/feel first in mind or later?
When I'm at my best, the lyrics and vocal melody come first. More realistically, I'll get an idea for the riff, then I'll build around the feelings that arise from that, then choose words that emerge from those feelings. ^^;;;
