Differents views from my hometown!

I did this oil painting of “Salome holding the head of st-john Baptist”, from a painting by Carlo Dolce (17th)... I had its picture on my computer and I though for a long time that it was a “Judith and Holopherne” subject..... I love to watch the differents ways painters made of this story troughout the centuries. The one by Artemisia is my favourite, I feel she’s the one who really understood all the strengh of this scene. I’m still a newbie in oil painting, it’s a very difficult medium to master, but I’m doing my best!!

From a small passage under the cathedral of Strasbourg, you may have an access to Elsass’s hell. You will enjoy their local specialities, like the flömmakuecha, the bäckaoffa or tiny teïfellanna. Those are only baked to celebrate the winter solstice. Life is sweet in this place and people are nice. Some centuries ago people used to throw supposed christian from the bridge of the dove to the ill, the river crossing through the city. If they drown, they are good pagans and will be remembered as such. But if they float... They are convinced Christians and will be burned. Everything has been forgiven since, and the inhabitants of this lovely city seem to live in peace with each other’s beliefs.
