Like, one of the reasons New Vegas is just the superior "modern" Fallout is because it doesn't pretend actual modern bigotries somehow died out after the bombs. Homophobia is not a huge theme of NV but it is touched upon several times. Many of the characters you meet detail instances of homophobic bigotry, even the Legion is suffused in it. Fallout 3/4 doesn't even know how to talk about slavery, they had to rip off Bladerunner for their shitty allegory

The story of Corporal Betsy is leagues better than any of the schlock Bethesda (Pagliarulo) has crapped out in the past decade and that's a side quest that consists entirely of just talking to people. They want their games to be about war? Well war is a hell of a lot more than just guys and gals (and sometimes others if the writers feel like it that day) shooting each other.
