they're saying that this is AOC's first presidential speech, her impassioned denunciation of racism and xenophobia at zohran mamdani's get out the vote rally yesterday.

if you're new to AOC, it might feel that way. but to me, she only continues to ascend and build confidence. her message hasn't changed: courage, optimism, wisdom, an insistence that we care for all, not just some.

in these dark times, her words feel like a warm fire. and we need that.

i haven't posted in so long. it feels like everyday, a new horror is unleashed. it's terrifying to live in the U.S. it's terrifying to watch democracy be dismantled with surgical precision in a matter of months. i haven't given up hope, but i've been working on an escape plan. it is unlikely i'll be in the U.S. for much longer.

AOC gave a searing and honest speech on the house floor critiquing the ridiculous bill to create a day to honor charlie kirk. charlie kirk was a person who reflected an unrecognizable america: one where cruelty is lionized, marginalized groups are openly derogated, and the least qualified person is upheld as an expert. charlie kirk cheered on the present day horrors we see unfolding daily: ICE kidnapping and killing, the genocide of the palestinians, unfair and unjust firings of predominantly people of color, and the reign of a dictator. to celebrate his legacy is to celebrate the fall of a modern civilization.

a fascist administration has been installed in the U.S. government and this time, their goal is complete and total annihilation of all institutions provisioning any material protection for people of color, women, lgbtq+, immigrants, religious minorities and the like.

AOC hopped on live to denounce elon's nazi salute in no uncertain terms and how we must protect one another.

this fake presidency has shaken me to my core. i don't know if i will regularly update this page, but i will do my best.

after burrowing in denial that a fascist has been "elected", i needed to take a break. AOC went live on IG the day after to console everyone and talk about next steps. this is a person for the people and she needs protection, especially from what's coming.

i think this refers to the dozens of articles speculating that she'll run in 2024.

just posting this as a reminder for why i still support AOC, despite any criticism i may have of her. she puts in the work.

the detractors who call her a paid shill who's bent the knee to the democratic party will ignore the fact that she gets so much done for her *community*.

AOC is in rare form in this speech. she is measured, passionate, and convincing. i recall her sharing that she writes notes for speeches but often freestyles based on how she's feeling. when she's honest, she's at her best.

AOC went live on twitch yesterday to get out the vote.

first, she played stardew valley for about 10 minutes and then VP candidate tim walz joined for about an hour. they played NFL 2k and then crazy taxi. finally, they reacted to some clips, including the "floating garbage" comment from the trump rally at madison square garden.

after walz left came the best part:

AOC talked candidly about the election, the stakes, the difference between trump and harris (it's a joke to pretend they're even close to the same for the day-to-day conditions of US lives, starting with abortion!!!), and why it matters. this was the best part, as walz is clearly a nice guy (and very much a Dad), but tends to stick to the same talking points and just hammered in on trump and vance instead of laying out a vision for the future. AOC's ability to understand that a path forward is more important than just attacking critics is a unique strength.

the nice thing is the puerto rico comment seemed to inspire bad bunny, ricky martin, and other high profile puerto ricans to post messages to social media in support of kamala harris.

just a few days left - let's get this home. to the leftists who know harris isn't as progressive as we'd like, you'll have plenty to critique once she's in office, so let's help get her there.
