Citing KTSM, an El Paso, Texas news outlet, the reason for the mysterious closure has finally been brought to light. It is unsure who delivered the reasoning to the news outlet, however it is being reported that a child pornography investigation, targeting a janitor at the facility was behind the closure. With the reason for such secrecy being that authorities didn’t want to alert the suspect to their investigation. We’ll keep you posted.

Citing a report from NPR, there are many who view Senator Warren as too “shrill” to be a candidate for President in 2020. I think there are much worse qualities that could’ve/should’ve/would’ve disqualified candidates in the past, yet they made it to the Oval Office. Read up on her, I’m curious what any of you think of a Warren/Sanders ticket for 2020, or perhaps even a Warren/Ron Paul ticket for 2020, either of those in 2016 would’ve had me drop my Marine loyalty to the office of President of the USA in a heart beat to actually go register and vote. But I must confess I would actually like to see more elections where the “popular vote” determined the outcome before I commit, but I’m right there. I’m seeking more perspectives and quite frankly, willing contributors for our outlet’s newly formed op-ed section, I prefer those I can fundamentally disagree with yet can articulate themselves. Think Hegel’s thesis, antithesis, synthesis pattern of operation.

Citing an article from RT, Is it such a bad idea that Jeff Bezos who reportedly earns the annual salary of the lowest paid Amazon workers ($28,000) every nine seconds, be forced to pay higher taxes or compensate the back bone of his company with higher wages? Bezos by the way is worth $160 billion dollars, twice that of Bill Gates last I checked. Yes he pledged billions to fight homelessness, which is commendable considering the wages he pays his employees keeps them a check plus overtime away from succumbing to homelessness themselves. But when one calls for “redistribution of wealth” they are conveniently labeled a “communist”, which in the western world, a 60 year Cold War can be thanked for that immediate connotation. I personally am a fan of the Japanese business practice in which the highest paid worker cannot be paid more than 20 times the lowest paid worker. Unfortunately for Bezos that would strip him of the “world’s richest man” title, however it would be replaced with “world’s most generous CEO”. We’ll keep you posted on Senator Sanders’ bill.

Citing a report from the Kansas City Star, Sunspot is set to reconvene operations later this week. There is still no word from any of the bureaucratic agencies involved with the closure and evacuation, as to what type of “criminal activity” may have occurred or is still occurring at the site. One fragment information was released that said criminal activity is alleged to have occurred in close proximity to the observatory, and the logistical issues posed with protecting employees at the observatory or post office would’ve proved difficult as it is a mountainous region. Which still poses more questions than answers. At least the FBI got back to some one. We’ll keep you posted best we can. What’s more dangerous, a conservative Supreme Court in an ever growing progressive society, or a vacant seat on perhaps one of the most pivotal elements of our systems of checks and balances? It is the Supreme Court who decides laws that shape our society and culture, or who will be the president during a dispute of an election outcome. Or perhaps moving forward with an impeachment. I think a lot of us are taking a knee for the country as it has fallen on hard times. We are divided, which can’t be denied. But, as any one who was old enough to remember 9/11 we are always an event away from standing and uniting together again. One of the things I love most about this country is its ideals. The constitution and bill of rights, the amendments. Our willingness to self correct in the wake of errors. So I ask for those of you that feel the flag is no longer worth standing for, for those that are taking a knee for our fallen fellow citizens, comrades, or the county itself. How do we stand together again? I don’t think we need to be as radical as to demand a revolution, but how about a renovation?

Citing KOB, an Albuquerque, New Mexico news outlet, the Sunspot observatory is set to reopen and reconvene operations on Monday. With still only a vague description as to what prompted the abrupt closure. With the only new information being that a “suspect in the investigation is no longer a threat”. Again, it is still unclear the nature of the security issue. AURA said that “They couldn’t risk spreading information that would potentially alert the suspect”. Again prompting more questions than answers as to the nature of the possible threat. We’ll keep you posted. At Objective News, we’re always ON.

As some of you may have noticed, the Sunspot story is gaining more and more national traction. Those in the know have only disclosed that “it’s not aliens”. The louder this story gets the more likely the powers that be will have to address it with a more tangible statement. If I can get an FBI press officer’s cell phone number, surely any of you can. This is how we diffuse the time of fake news. With Objective News. Reached out to FBI press officer Mr. Frank Fisher of the Albq. office again, still have yet to get through to any one who might have an answer. I’ve been asking both the FBI and AURA the nature of the “Security issue”, is it domestic? Foreign? Man made? Natural? Any thing would help to quell the theories that some around the internet are attempting to pass as certain facts. From alien contact to doomsday solar flares, any one concerned that it might be the latter should read my initial article and they will find my direct quote from Dr. McAteer himself, director of the facility and based at NMSU in Las Cruces, informing me that it has nothing to do with the solar flares.

The local sheriff’s office of Otero County, also confirmed that they were called to assist with evacuations and stand by with the FBI, although they were given no information and decided to leave, given that they saw no immediate threats in the area.

Sunspot Observatory

The mysterious closure of a New Mexico solar observatory on September 6th, has every one from conspiracy theorists to bonafide astronomers, curious as to what type of “Security issue” would prompt, AURA (Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy) as well as the FBI to shut down operations at the facility. As well as evacuate and cordon off the area. The observatory is located 17 miles from Cloudcroft, New Mexico, in the Sacramento mountains. Now add to that reports of military helicopters and the FBI perimeter, and the conspiracy theory blog/vlogosphere is brewing. I, Nicholas Iavecchia, an independent journalist based in Los Angeles, first became aware of the story from RT. Further research brought me to The Alamogordo News outlet, and an article written by Duane Barbati who deserves all due credit for breaking this story. He preferred not to speak with me when I reached out to him regarding his article. The FBI headquarters in Washington D.C. has also differed me to AURA’s spokeswoman Shari Lifson for which I have yet to hear back. AURA is an institution also based in Washington D.C. that essentially directs operations of observatories across the country. I also have calls into Frank Fisher, press officer for the FBI’s Albuquerque office, for which I have yet to hear back. So far I have been able to get ahold of David Elmore, a scientist with the National Solar Observatory, a separate entity who confirmed that the FBI facilitating a closure and evacuation of any observatory is not some thing he was aware of having ever happened in his entire career. I also contacted the Apache Point Observatory, located within walking distance of the Sunspot installation who informed me that they were fine and weren’t reporting any issues, and that they had been instructed to differ me to AURA’s press release. It should also be mentioned that a nearby Post Office was also evacuated. Employees of the observatory have not been able to be reached for comment. However, the director of the Sunspot observatory, Dr. James Mcateer based out of New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, said once he got the report from AURA he told his employees to log their data and evacuate. It is unclear whether AURA decided to issue the indefinite closure, before or after the arrival of the FBI on the scene. What Dr. Mcateer was able to tell me was that there is absolutely “no correlation” between the closure of the facility, and the stories /theories about massive solar flares. In fact furthering diffusing the craze of theories with the fact that “They happen all the time”. They would know as it is Dr. Mcateer’s and his employees at the Sunspot observatory’s specialty to monitor solar activity. “I will keep working to pay my mortgage”, he informed me. As well as complimenting me on asking a good science question. Some where my High School science teacher is spitting out his coffee. Dr. Mcateer also confirmed that the Sunspot observatory has been closed before due to a snow storm as it is located in a mountainous region, but that never before had the FBI been involved with a closure.
