(watchfuleyes: Yes, that is my OOC thing. Anyways, totally not working on a Team DAYY to counter NYTE. Nope. Definitely not...)
Vanessa looked at the note left by her teammate as she sat up from her infirmary bed after all that had happened the other night.
To My Friends, Â Â Â Â Â Please forgive me for what I am about to say. I'm afraid I must take leave for a while. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â I'm afraid you have seen something in me that I wish I had buried many years ago. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â I'm afraid... Of many things you may think of me. I'm sorry to worry you. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Please, don't look for me. Please know you three mean the world to me.
               Eternally Yours,                    Carmilla
She tightly gripped the note and cursed at herself. âDammit...â she crumpled the note more. âIâm such a damn fool... What kind of leader am I?â Vanessa stood herself up from the bed, gripping her side still, but oddly enough the wound wasnât bleeding anymore. She looked down to it and noticed it had been healed. Rather than question how it healed so fast, she got changed out of her hospital gown into her gear and decided she was going to look for Carmilla. They were teammates, she honestly could care less about what the other had done, she just wanted her back at Haven, safe. She left the infirmary.
They will remember this as the day they 'almost' caught Captain Victoria Tepes!
âAs your team leader, I demand that I be your captain.â
@nyte-mare @nyte-light @nyte-balter
ââŚâ she looked down from where she sat on her bed. Maybe she should have let her father kill her too. Everyone hated her now. At least thatâs what she felt.
~ { â } ~
Carmilla entered the room with a content sigh. A nice, warm shower after a chilly evening stroll was perhaps the best reward for the bat faunus. As she opened the door, she was still in her white bathrobe to find a distraught Vanessa.
âFunny, I thought the only expression you would wear would be haughty, Van.â call it an instinct, but the bat discontinued any further teasing, â⌠Whatâs the matter, mon ami? You look like youâve seen a ghost.â
Ha! Oh how Carmilla could relate, but true concern laced the faunusâs tone.
âIt was all a lieâŚâ she threw down her weapons and her razor. âMy father is just some sociopathic asshole.â she explained flatly. âI got mad at everyone disagreeing with me and I ran off to one of those late night FFFR meetings my parents barred me from going to. For good reason too. You know those attacks from the White Fang weâve been cleaning up after? FFFR.â she held her head. âI donât know what to believe, or whoâs right and whoâs wrong⌠All I know, is that my mother is now dead, my father wants me dead and that theyâre going to Lagune Street next.â
~ { â } ~
Carmilla was shocked witnessing her leader in such distress, but what Vanessa confessed was even more distressing. The bat moved to sit beside the girl, a look of pure concern on her face, hands on the otherâs shoulders.
âVanessa,â the young woman began in a serious tone of concern, âIf what youâre saying is true, then we need to act immediately. But before anything elseââ
Carmilla pulled the blonde into an embrace, âIâm sorry Vanessa. For everything; truly and deeplyâŚâ She parted, picking up Vanâs kataars and razor blade, ââBut we must do our job here. I believe what you said is true in all its entirety. We need to move forward. We need to fight and protect the people of Mistral.â
âYouâre right. But I canât let you and the others put yourselves in danger because of my stupidity.â she stood up. âDonât go after my father. He will not hesitate to kill any of you. In fact if he even knew you were my teammates, that would just paint a bigger target on your backs.â
Vanessa grit her teeth. âItâs my fight, and Iâm not letting you get hurt because of me.â she stated. âYou just do your job with the others, protect the citizens. Iâll deal with my father.â why did she suddenly care about them so much? The same people she spent day in and day out berating for their race or support of a race. She didnât know why, nor did she care. She was going to deal with her father or die trying.

Yang found herself beginning to question whether or not this girl as actually sane or not, the fact that she just did that was already making her a little bit skeptical. But soon enough she began to slowly look to the Faunus girls and then back to Vanessa.
âI meanâŚNot all Faunus are bad, I mean I know quite a few cool Faunus. If anything theyâre just kindaâŚdifferent, just because the White Fang is trying to do shit with a revolution doesnât mean every Faunus is going to be a part of itâ The blonde mused as she then began to make her way over to the large castle-looking building.
Of course the blonde didnât really want to say that Vanessaâs views were wrong. There were Faunus that were terrible, but they were merely bad apples within a barrel of a race that was treated poorly by humans. It was technically humanityâs fault that organizations like the White Fang existed in the first place
âOh but they are, Yang.â she started to walk towards the building but then stopped. âFor years they would be outside my familyâs home threatening them and yelling at them. Of course my parents, being huntsmen did the logical think and defended themselves from those animals.â she looked back to Yang with a look of anger in her eyes.
âYou want to know why I hate the faunus so much?â she asked. âTheyâre nothing but a bunch of troublemakers. I donât know if you ever heard of this group Iâm in, but hereâs their card.â she handed Yang a card. It had a phone number and was labeled. âForces Fighting Faunus Rights.â âThey do peaceful protests and make petitions on a regular basis advocating for the separation of faunus from humans. They threaten us, try to kill us and helped destroy Beacon. I donât think we can trust their kind anymore.â she argued.
âNot that I ever trusted them to begin with. Though my parents still wonât let me show up to their late night meetings till Iâm a huntress. I still wonder what thatâs about.â Vanessa let out a sigh. âAnyways, thatâs our campus here, The dormitory buildings are west of the main office and to the east is the ballroom and classrooms.â
Yang merely pocketed the card and began to sigh, this really as going to be a hard experience considering she wasnât really any sort of extremist, âIâm not sure if this group is exactlyâŚthe most logical thing. I mean the cause if stupid to say the least and if anything itâs doing what the White Fang is trying to do. Or was trying to do.â The blonde state with a small grin on her face before eventually beginning to look over to the dormitory buildings and the classrooms.
Of course eventually Yang began to prepare some sort of talk to Vanessa, she wanted to tell her that this wasnât exactly the best kind of action and rather they needed to actually find a Faunus that wasnât going to attack someone that tries to take away their rights. Oh if only she saw Blake and Velvet
âWas trying to do? Those animals attacked my family long before they started to get more violent with things.â she hissed. âTheyâve made my life a living hell. Why should they get to be free and have all the rights they want including bullying me.â Vanessa felt ready to just about attack someone, but she knew better, no. Not this girl, not the same girl that had assaulted one of her peers.
âAll faunus are natural born trouble makers, take the well known scoundrel, Sun Wukong for instance. He steals food, money and illegally smuggles himself to other kingdoms like itâs nothing bad. Heâs a menace to society and I canât believe I go to a school that would hold someone like him in such high regards.â
âAlright, thatâs it Iâm gonna stop you there. Shut the fuck up about Sun, he is not a menace! Maybe thereâs a reason that he HAS to steal food, or money, maybe itâs because of people like you that claim heâs a menace. The guyâs a bit of a prankster sure, but heâs actually one of the nicest guys that assholes like you wouldnât ever get the chance to meet!â The blonde seemed offended that Vanessa would insult one of her friends. In fact she was prepared to attack her at this point.
âOne more comment on any of my friends and Iâm not holding back. I donât give a shit if your stupid team comes to kill me. You do not. I repeat. Do not! Insult my friends!â The blonde then pushed past Vanessa before briefly turning back.
âMaybe itâs people like you, that should be the ones segregated from the rest of us.â
Vanessa was taken aback by Yangâs harsh words. This girl was no better than them. Than the rest of her teammates. âYouâre no better than my teammates.â she stated flatly. âThey always tell me the same thing, and theyâre wrong!â she was ready to attack this girl at this point. She was ready to just take out either her crossbow or her katars to give this girl the beat down she deserved for being such an arrogant bimbo.
âYou donât know anything about me. The faunus theyâve made my life a living hell since I was toddler. You-You donât know how it feels to be ridiculed every day by a certain group of people just because you donât agree with them.â was she crying? There were tears running down her face. âMy parents came home every day to a group of those filthy animals following them. My father would take his rifle out and fire warning shots, which typically got them to back off.â she looked down to the razor in her hand.
âOne night though, they got really violent. They wouldnât leave and they started to go towards the house. Molotovs and other explosives in hand, ready to set our house ablaze. I saw what happened. All of it. My father shot through all of those filthy animals. Blew up their explosives in their hands. I saw every detail and I knew they were monstersâŚâ she looked up to Yang again.Â
âWe should be hunting their kind as much as we hunt Grimm!â she drew out her Katars and rushed at Yang, tears still streaming down her face as it was clear that she was in no mental state for a serious fight at all.
Yang was about to retort once again but soon turned around and saw Vanessa charging at her with her Katars. She was really going to fight her now? Yang could tell that this battle would be one sided, she also could tell that the story she was telling wasâŚindeed sad, but of course was also something that Weiss said way back in their first year at Beacon. The Faunus of the New White Fang would attack those that disagreed with them. But it was the case of many people that tried to segregate them, attack them, take away their rights.
âYouâre an idiot to think that we should be hunting creatures that should be our equals!â Yang then turned and brought up her fist to block the katars, but rather her metallic arm, the clanging sound that echoed throughout the courtyard was almost deafening as soon enough the blonde began to push back.
âYou see this you arrogant brat?! This was what happened when I attacked the leader of the White Fang. He is just like you think all Faunus are, a sociopath! But you know why he attacked me?! Because he wanted to get rid of everything my teammate knows and loves! She ran from him, sheâs been fighting for Faunus rights since the very beginning! The only reason you think Faunus are evil, is because youâre too dense to see the wider world!â
Yang then let out a yell as her arm began to extend out sideways into a small scythe blade as she then felt her eyes turning a powerful crimson as she spoke words that burnt like acid.
âIf it werenât for some Faunus. Youâd be dead where you stand. They fight with us, protect usâŚand what does humanity do? Nothing. Weâre all the reason that theyâre trying to do this! And we only have ourselves to blame!â
At this point a large group was forming around the two, teachers, studentsâŚeven other Faunus. Many were murmuring about what this blonde was saying, some were confused, some were scaredâŚbut many of them had the same ideaâŚthis girl was speaking the truthâŚsomewhat
Vanessa was shoved to the ground with relative ease despite putting all of her force into her attack and was pushed back with enough force that she caused a small crater.Â
She looked at Yang and dropped her weapons, this was a pointless fight and she knew it, yet everyone around her was looked at them and some people were yelling at her about how Yang was right. Her, the same girl that had assaulted one of their peers and students, she was right. She was more correct than Vanessa, a student that had been at Haven for 3 years.
ââŚâ she didnât know what to say or do. She merely stood up and looked in Yangâs direction, avoiding eye contact. âItâs your fault⌠All of this.â she looked Yang in the eyes. âYouâre the reason this whole mess started!â Vanessa had to distract the crowd somehow. She picked up her Katars and charged them up with electricity. âItâs your fault, Beacon fell to begin with!â she hissed as the students then turned their attention to her.
âIf you hadnât attacked one of our students, Beacon wouldnât have fallen! It was what started to send the Grimm into a frenzy around Vale and the rest of the world. Itâs YOUR fault.â she grit her teeth. âYou know nothing. Give any one of those faunus you know a chance, and theyâll be in the White Fang like the rest of them.â she then fired a shot into the ground with her Katars that launched her away from the crowd and Yang. Vanessa had made her decision, she was finally going to go to one of those late night meetings her parents were barring her from going, she wanted to help in any way she could..
Yang found herself trying to call out but nothing seemed to come out, eventually just walking into the main building, pushing past the crowd as eventually she was able to get herself situated within the dorm rooms. Having her own dorm room that was close to âTeam RNJRâ which turned out to be her sisterâs temporary team.
Of course once the day turned to evening, the blonde soon heard a loud gunshot ringing out from an odd building. Of course at this point she then remembered she had the card of this organization. But she wasnât really sure whether she should go crash this party.
Of course more gunshots rang out, but soon enough she began to try and settle down to sleep and get some sort of rest seeing as she had been practically awake twenty four seven for about the past couple of weeks
Vanessa was exhausted, she had just ran through the courtyard frantically after all that had happened... No one was in the courtyard. She looked around and let out a sigh. There was one person she figured she could go to. After asking around, she eventually did find out where Yang was staying.
There was a knocking heard on the door it sounded rather frantic judging by how hard the knocks were. âYang, please! Itâs me, Vanessa! Let me in!â she continued pounding on the door, hoping to get the blondeâs attention. âYou were right okay?! Is that what you wanna hear?!â
âDo you honestly think the police will take one personâs word for it, Julia?â Vanessa asked her. âBesides, he probably has enough cops under his belt to where that wonât even matter.â she shook her head. âMy father is probably going to come for me, and when he does, Iâll just join my mother I supposeâŚâ she looked at her weapons in her hands.
âIf ya tell âem ya witnessed a fuckinâ murder, hell yeah!  Is kinda their job.â
Brown eyes followed her teammateâs to the blades in her hand.  âNessie, donât go doinâ somethinâ stupid.  Hell, we ainât never got along, butâŚgoddamn i never wanted ya to fuckinâ die.â  She stood and approached her leader, arms wrapping around her shoulders.  âNessieâŚâ
âThey wonât. Besides, any cops not with him are against him. Heâll probably have them all killed like everyone else heâs going to kill.â she grit her teeth. âIâm going to Lagune street. Donât follow me.â she warned. âNo one else should have to die for me.â
âI donât believe Iâve seen you around Haven that much..â she seemed a bit suspicious of this girlâs presence. âBut, Havenâs a big school, so I suppose I just havenât seen you around.â she rolled her eyes. âI think the dormitories are east of here.â
âI havenât seen you much around either, so why donât we throw that up to chance.â Cinder smiled keeping her facade, it was too close to be spotted now. âWhy donât we go there together? I see no real reason to split up.â
âAlright sure.â Vanessa smiled as she walked along side this girl. âSo, youâre here to participate in the tournament, right? I am, but with how my teammates are I doubt weâll even get passed round one without me carrying the match for my them.â
âUm, you do know that Iâm Haven too? Donât you?â she crossed her arms. âIâm actually looking for them myself. Maybe we both can try to find them.â she suggested. âVanessa Nilla, Team NYTE.â she held her hand out.
âI do, but I hoped you have more of a sense them my lack of direction.â Cinder chuckled taking the girls hand gently, âCinder of team CEMN. Itâs a pleasure to meet you Vanessa.â
âI donât believe Iâve seen you around Haven that much..â she seemed a bit suspicious of this girlâs presence. âBut, Havenâs a big school, so I suppose I just havenât seen you around.â she rolled her eyes. âI think the dormitories are east of here.â
âJulia⌠What would you do if you found out a cause you dedicated yourself to was nothing more than a lie?â Vanessa asked her. âThe FFFR. Theyâre liars. I watched as my father killed my Mother trying to get to me.â she bit her lip. âI donât know what to believe anymore. I donât have a home anymore. And Theyâre going to Lagune street next to pillage it and blame it on the White Fang.â
Julia couldnât believe what she was hearing. Her expression wide and in shock, she tried her hardest to process exactly what Vanessa was saying. âN..Nessie? Ya ainât bullshittinâ me? IâŚgoddamnâŚNessie IâmâŚIâm sorry to hearâŚâ She pondered the risk of approaching her partner. She wanted, for the first time in her entire life, to hold her close in comfort. âDidâŚdid ya call the cops? I mean, he canât just..get away with fuckin murder!â
âDo you honestly think the police will take one personâs word for it, Julia?â Vanessa asked her. âBesides, he probably has enough cops under his belt to where that wonât even matter.â she shook her head. âMy father is probably going to come for me, and when he does, Iâll just join my mother I suppose...â she looked at her weapons in her hands.

Something was up. As Julia entered the dorm, she could tell her leader had something on her mind that was far too much to bear on her own. The brunette extinguished her cigarette in the ashtray beside her bed and looked across the room. Â
    âSomethinâ on yer mind, Nessie?â
âJulia... What would you do if you found out a cause you dedicated yourself to was nothing more than a lie?â Vanessa asked her. âThe FFFR. Theyâre liars. ââŚâ Vanessa looked at the mysterious woman that had approached her. âHello?â she looked at her. She was wearing a Haven uniform, yet she felt as if she had never seen this girl before. Her amber eyes seemed almost hypnotic to look at.
âAh Excuse my rudeness.â Cinder said politely, âBut Beacon hasnât truly sat well with me lately, might you know where the student dorms are?â In truth, Cinder was scouting out where she needed to go, but this girl didnât need to know that.

The sickening truth(drabble)
Vanessa was outraged, how dare people make accusations against her views. She knew in the very least there was one group she could trust, there were people out there like her that shared her views on faunus, that they were all troublemakers that had to be separated from them.
Vanessa approached the outside of the building the FFFR would typically hold their meetings in. Her parents had always barred her from going to these late night meetings, but no more, she was entering this meeting whether her parents wanted her to or not. She watched as people were let in, they all wore animal masks. She remembered why they did this, it was purely to make their argument that the faunus were nothing more than animals. She slipped on a wolf mask and snuck her way in.
